Do you have a credible source for these translations?
Even if they did, and the Bible offered absolutely no condemnation of homosexual behavior, it wouldn’t matter. Unless, of course, you adhere to sola scriptura.

Protestants sects which embrace homosexuality are yet another product of that perverted doctrine.

Because one is comparing apples to oranges…one has nothing whatsoever to do with the other…two separate issues, it’s like comparing "gay marriage’ to “marrying one’s dog”…it has nothing to do with each other…it’s like saying…“Well if one allows gay marriage, next thing we know we’ll have to allow dogs getting drivers license!!!”

The arguements were used decades ago when interracial marriage was against the law. “If we allow blacks to marry whites next thing you know we’ll have to make pedophilia lawful.”

HUH???
No! It all starts with accepting orientation as the basis for behavior.

I guess this is where we diverge with one another…a person’s unchangeable sexual orientation IS a good reason for accepting them as whole human beings. We live in a world that has a much greater knowlege of sexual orientation than it did 4000-6000 years ago and surrounded by cultural taboos that many religious people see as normative…I do not…but I am not ‘conservative’ in my religious belief…and we are making determinations with peoples lives based on religious belief…not empirical psychological and scientific evidence…and yes I do realize that the scientific is far from conclusive as to the cause of homosexuality, but I’d rather trust “where the evidence is leading” than a 6000 year old superstitious view of sexuality.

I know you do not agree, but that is the beauty of our world…we don’t have to agree…

We do not have to agree but only one of us is right.

This is today’s great deception - that all opinions are equal.

I have an orientation that likes to get drunk all the time, I like to drink and the feeling of being drunk. But that doesn’t mean I should run with it and feel justified to drink, I have to work hard to avoid alcohol. It’s the same with gays. Maybe they can’t help how they feel, but it may not be good to act on it.

Yes, only one of us is right…and should it be me, then I will be grateful that I err on the side of grace, love and mercy…and if I’m wrong, then I will place myself to God’s judgement…I have no fear of that.

If drinking causes you or anyone else no damage whatsoever, then drinking isn’t an issue. A gay person having a committed loving stable relationship with another gay person does not effect you nor anyone else in any way…it is their choice…and it causes no harm to them nor anyone else.

Again, you compare apples to oranges…your drinking problem has no bearing whatsover on two consenting loving adults having a mutual loving relaionship.

You come upon the scene of a bad accident.

Their is a paramedic and you (not trained). THe paramedic says the driver needs to go to the hospital. You say it is not necessary.

Who is right and why?

What does a traffic accident have to do with my 'erring" on the side of love, grace and mercy toward gay people…strange strange strange comparisons you make.

For you to characterize the numerous logical, scientific, moral, and sociological arguments against the acceptance of homosexual behavior as simply “a 6000 year old superstitious view of sexuality” is to display a profound ignorance of the entire issue. When you do this it fatally damages your credibility. That’s how name calling contests get started, and rational discussions melt down.

To claim that 6000 year old bedouins have a better grasp on human sexuality than modern science and psychaiatry is dabbling in superstition…it’s not my intention to begin name calling…it is an opinion…don’t be threatend by my opinion, I am not threatened by yours.

I’m pretty sure all gays feel guilty about what they do, and that guilt is just another brick in the wall to keep God out. Is it no surprise that so many gays are atheist and mock Jesus? So it does hurt in the long run.

That is you projecting your beliefs upon gay people…you might be “sure” they feel guilty, but that is just your feeling on the matter…whether gay people feel “guilty” for being gay is a whole different issue…many of the gay people I know and who worship along with me each First Day do not share in your “projected guilt”…I have had the privilege of serving with a Clerk of the Meeting who was one of the finest Christian women I have ever met…she and her partner had been together 35 years…she did not feel your “projected guilt”…I know of no gay people who “mock Jesus”…I have met many self professed Christians who darken his name however…but that doesn’t prove anything about Christians…just about those people who behave badly…so a person being gay who behaves in the same matter as a “bad Christian” proves nothing about gay people…except that they are “people.”

It is proven that people are born being homosexual. It is not a choice just as being hetrosexual is not a choice.
Genevieve,

Please don’t ignore my reply to your initial post. I am very curious as to how and with what proof you will answer. Especially, the statement which you made above. Go back to the only other Tietjen message (<—clickable here) and take a few minutes to reply. It’s not really asking much.

I won’t bother you anymore should you decide not to respond. I’ll simply know that you were lying and were simply seeking attention.

God bless.

I live in one of the gay capitals of the world and most I know reject Jesus so I’m speaking from actual knowledge. How do those gay Christians reconcile what is defined as fornication, being sex outside of marriage between man and woman?

1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

So you know they feel guilty?

I do not dispute that there are gay people who have the values you claim they have…those values are shared by the majority of straight people…but those gay I am acquainted with live their Christian faith, whether you believe they do or not.

How they “reconcile” the 5-6 passages in scripture which appear at first glance to condemn gay relaionships is easy enough…“Is the Homosexual My Neighbor” a good book to begin to see their view.

“Fornication” as defined as “sex outside of the benefit of marriage” is easy enough to reconcile…the gay Christians I know were “married after the manner of Friends” under the care of the Meeting of which they belong.
