"God loves you" can't be a source of comfort

The damned, by definition, love this world more than God. If they truly loved God, they would:
  1. Deny themselves
  2. Take up their cross daily
  3. Follow Christ - God in the Flesh.
I’m just a simpleton, but in many things, the simpler the better. God is paramount in His utter simplicity. It is the devil - the evil one - who introduces complexity and ushers in destruction of the human person.

He is the first to call God a liar, when he gave Adam and Eve the choice (complexity) to follow God or follow themselves. We live in an age of rampant complexity and over-thinking.

The Lord: I AM utter simplicity. My love is simple, unconditional and infinite.
The devil: Not so! There are at least 50 shades of gray in what you claim…

Exactly -

We encounter many examples of these false attitudes in every walk of life
  • including from some who post in Catholic Forums -
in their - must fail - efforts to DeBunk Jesus the Christ.

The Love of God is no source of comfort to the damned even though it still exists. It is rational to believe large quantities of people are going to hell. To believe with certainty that someone else
(not me and my Family)
is going to hell is dangerous. Trying to comfort Catholics with calming songs about the reckless love of God is not beneficial since God’s Love only feels good if you get to Heaven.
No comforting from Jesus.

John 8
42 Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded and came. For I came not of myself: but he sent me. 43 Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil: and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning: and he stood not in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. 45 But if I say the truth, you believe me not. 46 Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me: 47 He that is of God heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.

It’s an explanation. If God didn’t love us then He would not have given us a path to have our sins forgiven and to avoid Hell, let alone one which required Him to suffer and die. He might not have even given us free will and would instead have forced us to only do what He wanted like organic robots.

People who are in Hell don’t want to go to Heaven.
Exactly.

Imagine being Scholar-Like Knowledgeable about the Text of Scriptures
yet still lacking Understanding to the point of behavioral Opposition
  • Via a Lack of Faith which by then… should have been there!
Imagine - seeing Jesus Speak and Act in Person. And tossing the Death Sentence upon Him

Imagine - having been in Heaven knowing God. and Jesus…
AND Fully and never-endingly try to UpStage God … and Tempt Jesus into Sinning…

At Judgement - we shall Know whom is allowed into God’s Kingdom… .

Those who Love Thy Neighbor in Action - evidence Loving LOVE…

I personally am always comforted by the love of God/ Jesus.

This thread is like somebody just said they don’t care if their mother loves them or not, all they care about is whether she leaves them a million dollars in her will, because if she loves them but they end up poor and broke in the gutter, her love isn’t comforting and means nothing.

If all you ever think about is whether you’re going to Heaven or Hell, you’re doing it wrong and have a stunted relationship with the Almighty.

Actually, the guy who wrote the song Reckless Love, Cory Asbury, is part of the Bethel Music Collaborative, which is part of Bethel Church. The head pastor of said church, Bill Johnson, has actually denied the deity of Jesus when He became a fully-fleshed human, which is the heresy of Arianism.
Here’s an example:
“Jesus had no supernatural capabilities in Himself. Everything He did, He did as a man, completely dependant on the Holy Spirit. He emphasized this point by saying, “The Son can do nothing of Himself.” 1 While He is 100 percent God, He chose to live with the same limitations and restrictions that man would face once he was redeemed. He made that point over and over again. If He performed miracles as God, I am still impressed, but not compelled to follow.
Shifting Shadows of Supernatural Experiences, page 185, emphasis added.
The most frustrating part is that they use Bethel’s music for Life Teen, but that’s another topic for another thread (which I’ll start if anyone is interested!) That’s my two cents on that song.
