Thank God for making babies cute
And then maybe it is the stresses of this world that made us not as cute when we grow up? Haha! Just throwing it out there.
Nicely put. where i am iāve only ever heard window to the soul. The only parts of our body that donāt grow are our eyeballs. Your eyes at birth are the same size as they are when you are an adult, which is why babies have such big adorable eyes, and part of why they look so cute. We place a lot of value on looking at other peopleās eyes because we value sight, but also because they are so important to non-vocal communication - as the saying goes, the eyes are the mirror of the soul.
I donāt know if other species also maintain the size of the eyeball throughout life, or if it is true to the same extent. If so, that could have been part of Godās plan to help us bond with our children, and all children as a group, and to help protect babies - it is harder to harm someone you find cute. It could also be true of primates as a whole (chimp and orangutan babies also have big eyes), but I suspect that if God used the natural process of selection to gradually create and shape the human form before endowing it with a soul, then our closest relatives will of course share many of our characteristics.
There are babies who are born with severe deformities for a variety of reasons. So, itās not a given that God made babies cute.Explain why.
Could we love them so much if they are not? Explain why or why not?
Theyāre still cute in their own way because babies and their innocence is enough to make them cute. There are babies who are born with severe deformities for a variety of reasons. So, itās not a given that God made babies cute.
:clapping:Babies are cute so that we will nurture them and care for them.
Adolescents are obnoxious so we will kick them out of the nest.![]()
Donāt worry, theyāll probably be forced by economic necessity to move back in.:clapping:
Definitely!
For myself it is not necessarily the actual appearance of infants, nor their innocence, that trigger the ācuteā response in me. Itās also their movements and sounds. Thankfully my hubby was in full agreement. We spent hours simply enjoying watching the kids when they were little - much better entertainment than whatever was on TV. Loved to see them figure out how to grab something, how to move, etc.
Now with 2 children āfully wingedā as it were, and 2 more starting āflight trainingā,** I think Iām going to miss it when the nest is completely empty**. But Iād much rather have it empty than have them still perched here once they leave toddlerhood! Mine arenāt deliberately obnoxious, but being that age, they just canāt seem to help it!![]()
Some babies look mega ugly.Explain why.
Could we love them so much if they are not? Explain why or why not?
LOL! Nope - thatās against our family rules! Thereās a reason we have a small home with only one bathroom. They are much more likely to find work and/or roommates to sustain themselves than ever go back to the strict bathroom regulations we have hereDonāt worry, theyāll probably be forced by economic necessity to move back in.
Mirror, window - look, Iām old and I get confused sometimesā¦Nicely put. where i am iāve only ever heard window to the soul.![]()
Never your own, though. Some babies look mega ugly.
He also made ugly babies.Explain why.

Haha. We got a downstairs loo recently, it is fantastic.LOL! Nope - thatās against our family rules! Thereās a reason we have a small home with only one bathroom. Of course, if the situation should arise, I wouldnāt leave them entirely homeless. Thereās always room for one more at dinner. Also, we have camping equipment and Iād be willing to let them use our backyard.
Seriously - I am thankful the oldest was able to get her masters and a job that paid for her to become fully certified in her field and so now she makes more than we do. God is good.
I forgive youMirror, window - look, Iām old and I get confused sometimesā¦![]()
Actually, a babyās eyeballs grow from approximately 18 mm in diameter at birth to approximately 24 mm at adulthood. Not a lot of growth, though, compared to other body parts. The only parts of our body that donāt grow are our eyeballs. This is very amusing.Explain why.
