Food better than sex? wow…you must be a very talented Chef
😛

There are many pleasures in life. Like taking a hot bath, reading a good book in a nice comfy bed, talking to someone you love, hanging out with friends. The amount of pleasure depends on the person.
🙂

…This whole thread is BLASPHEMY!
😃

I will not believe that any form of food is better than sex!!

If that’s true, then my life has lost all meaning.

😛

…I stopped blushing, BTW…👍

I am a single Man, so I will need to hear from the married couples to proove my theory.

Sex is often made to look like the ultimate pleasure, but I have logic that refutes this claim.

My conclusion is that food is better
then sex with all drawbacks being considerd.
Erm… 😃

Ok, I have a feeling your opinion would change if you did indeed get married. But, not being married myself, my reasons are:

A - Sex is not just about having an ‘orgasm’. If it were, no one would use prostitutes. Sex binds two people in a way that nothing else on earth can. It is very very intense, and the greatest likeness to something ‘supernatural’ we can experience.

B - Sex is also about the gift of oneself to your spouse. From where I stand, the prospect that someone would love you to that extent (i.e absolute total giving) is in fact what makes the physical act enjoyable at all. It is this union with another being made in the image of God Himself that to me, is what is attractive.

C - From sex can come the creation of a new soul, and procreation of the human race. What better gift can you give someone than life itself? Food, on the other hand, just gets mushed up and dumped into the toilet when we’re done with it. 🤷 Even the ‘pleasure’ you get from it is just so fleeting and earthly if you really think about it.

No comparison 😉

And WG, I totally agree that comparing sex to food can def. devalue it, or reduce analysis to the physical pleasure level alone. :dts:

I am single but my parents have divorced a number of times, so I have seen marriages fail.

It seems to me that food is just as good if not better then sex.
I have not read in the bible that God ever said sex was the ultimate
pleasure.

Think about your favorite food, and washing it down with your favorite drink…Ahhhhhh!!!
Pure pleasure!!!

Sex on the other hand, I hear is not always good. I hear that sometimes people are not very sexualy compatible…but they don’t
know it because they canot have sex prior to the marriage.

This is not a problem with food and drink. Tast something you don’t like??? Well you get something different.

Sex canot be the ultimate pleasure
because if it was, divorce would be ilogical. Despite problems you would have access to the greatest pleasure on the planet, that would make remaining married better then divorce. But that is not the case.

Food never gets old!!!
I love my favorite foods, just as much as I did 10 years ago.

I magine being at a reasturant, you have a steaming hot delicious
plate in front of you.
And yet you can still look at the persons plate that’s sitting next to you and yet you do not sin.

Food may be something God created DIRECTLY to be pleasure. Sex was not created for pure pleasure because the purpose is to have children.

Now the bible dose say to be intoxicated by your mate…to be in an extasy constantly…to rejoice with the wife of your youth. But this is poetic and possibly not literally meaning what it says.

My conclusion is that food is better
then sex with all drawbacks being considerd.
My dear friend in Christ,

You make a strong case:eek:

Please don’t tell my wife (we both like sex) if she thinks there is something better, she’ll make me buy it for her😃

Heck, what do we know, we have only been married 41 years, and it keeps getting better.I can truthfully share that I love my wife more today than the day we were married! (God has a great deal to do with this.)

Food and married sex, are both good, but in moderation my friend.
In marriage, sexual intimancy is the “cement” that holds it togeather.

But marriage is not for everyone, and can only stay togeather if your both walking with God!

Until death do us part can be a long time. No life is perfect, no life is without crosses to bear. So don’t expect life to be a picnic, its not, and its not supposed to be.👍

What’s for supper?

God bless you my friend!

Funny how most people compare sex to food or drink. Not that I want to downplay the pleasure to be had from a seriously good cup of coffee or bowl of choc-toffee icecream, mind you.

But for me, I think spending quality time with parents, siblings, nieces and nephews hits the same areas of brain and psyche.

Why is it that we hear of people who are married, not having sex in months?

If it was better then the great taste of sandwich, it would be ilogical for anyone to stop.

Food is better then sex if your not having sex.

Many marriages end because one
or the other has sex with someone
who is not there mate, why would that happen???
there are many reasons, but aparently one or the other is not satisfied.

Now if that happens with say a nice plate of spagetti, you can just switch to chicken wings…no harm to anyone.

Not having sex in months?

Don’t write such awful things!!!

The very thought–

Ok, now I need to call my husband at work. Maybe he can come home early. . . 😊

Married sex can be the ultimate pleasure only when it is combined with the following:
  1. Absolute trust:slapfight:
  2. Strawberry cheesecake:cake:
  3. Mutual interest in video games like “Call of Duty”:manvspc:
  4. Regular workouts like chasing the kids:onpatrol:
  5. Clean kitchens:juggle:
  6. Tag-teaming CCD class as teachers:grouphug:
and…
  1. Willingness to look like an idiot for the family’s well-being:stretcher:

Ok, I’m am going to be serious about this…

Food can be very enjoyable. For some, food may be more enjoyable than sex. For others, sex will be more enjoyable.

Obviously, people who believe food is more enjoyable are in the minority.

But this is just in terms of the pleasure that each thing gives a particular type of person.

The majority will prefer the pleasure that comes from sex, the minority will enjoy that from foods.

Now, I think I understand the OP’s point on food being more enjoyable for unmarried people. And I’ll actually agree to that.

After all, which is better for your soul? Enjoying a chocolate cake, or sleeping with someone you aren’t married to?

Also, which one would you feel less guilty about afterwards? Sure, the cake probably won’t help you if you’re on a diet. But I’m certain having sex before marriage (Especially when you have a well-formed conscience) will also make you feel more guilt.

But I must also point out that it CAN be demeaning to compare a beautiful act, like married sex, with something so commonplace as food. In this culture, sex is both glorified, and diminshed at the same time. The physical aspect is made out to be the Holy Grail, while the spiritual side is demeaned (Often times by the act itself) and ignored. Sex becomes recreation, instead of procreation.

Obviously the OP didn’t mean it that way.
And judging from the responses the married forumers have been giving…I also believe that he’ll probably change his mind once he gets married!

Heck, I’m looking forward to it all. And I’ve never even KISSED a girl!

I’ve got final exams today! I’ll get there when I get there…

Months!!!
You are hanging around the wrong couples.
In all honesty, the last time it was even a month was while I was on bed rest before the birth of my son.

There was a joke after leg surgery during PT. If you have enough pillows, anything is possible.

We use NFP, and we COUNT the DAYS!!! Months??? Now, that said, if for some reason, health or the like, that caused us to wait, we could. But it wouldn’t be fun.

Actually what you are talking about with food is “technically” a mortal sin 😦 If you look back at the meanings of the 7 deadly sins, gluttony isn’t just overeating. In fact that was kind of a rare thing in the ancient world. It was more so demanding that your food be prepared a cetain way and taking extreme pleasure in eating…

I’m not sure that’s the case anymore though… 👍 But that’s why the monks use to eat soup with little or no spices so that they wouldn’t focus on the enjoyment of eating so much.

Considering I’m overweight please take what I say as informative and not judgmental. Just passing along information because I’m sure some people look at me and just KNOW I overeat whether I do or not 🙂

In regards to sex though, the coming together of a man and a woman in a Sacramental union mimicks the Trinity in that the Spirit is produced from the Love of the Father and Son. In that same sense the coming together of man and woman can produce life… can’t really get much more ultimate than that 😃

Joe

I must respectfully disagree.
*P.S. And I’m sorry - Americans just have not got it yet. You must use water that has only just stopped boiling to make a pot of tea. You make it in a pot and then you pour the tea into a cup or mug with milk. You do not give someone a pot of hot water and a tea bag to put in their cup. I’ve been travelling regularly to the US for 15 years now and I have almost given up trying to get a proper cup of tea.
come on over. What kind of tea is your favorite?

well done my young friend, your princess will be so very lucky!!..but you shouldn’t be on this thread…I’m telling:p

Now that I think about it I can’t think of any food even close to being better than sex, maybe I’m eating at the wrong places?
😛

But Video games are almost as good…if it’s SMB 3, FFX, or Half Life 2 good…well not really, but that’s still the thing that’s probably closest!

Sorry Joe…don’t agree. Someone can eat dry toast and tea (not prepared the English way 😃 ), take extreme pleasure in it because he/she is grateful for the food. My Grandmother enjoyed every meal she ate, even if it was a slice of bread and a tomato… And she fasted every Friday for her entire life (lived to be 103)

As for the question…I’m Italian and my Mom was an excellent cook…and I learned a lot from her. I love to cook, I love to eat, I enjoy my food.

But…I love my husband much more than I could love any food (even Godiva Chocolates) So being with him is significantly more pleasurable than food. Plus, my three children are gifts from God…that came from being with DH.

Food is just a fleeting pleasure.

The only way food can even come close is when you are putting in the effort to cook a really nice meal for someone you love.

But while food can be an expression of love, it can never involve the total giving of your self. Well perhaps sacrificial fasting might come close, but I gather that is not what you are talking about.

AHH!

I swear I didn’t mean to!..I mean, I did…but I didn’t know what I was getting myself into…lol

And BTW I will definitely be the lucky one.
