Faithful 2 Rome:
Dude…
Get over yourself with questioning my name and if I am a true Catholic cause I may think someone who is a Christian but not a Catholic just may have something truthful to say…YAWN…

I dont wrap myself up in worry that just cause someone isnt Catholic, they arent CHRISTIAN…is the author CHRISTIAN? YEP…Well…then I think the man may have something to say worthwhile. I sure hope you dont equate with being a “true” catholic as being ONLY a Republican Conservative…cause I got news for ya…except for the abortion and gay marriage issue…the Democrats stance on just about every other issue more closely reflects that of what Jesus’ teachings are.
Please, let’s not trot out that tired old canard. We’ve discussed this extensively. I’ve noticed that those who bring this up are quick to accuse others of putting the Republican party ahead of the Catholic Church.

Funny how you dont defend my faith being questioned, but are quick to “canard” the political aspect of what I wrote…funny indeed…

BUt nevertheless…before YOU mentioned it, I DID choose to change my original post…beofre you jumped all over it making sure to address the “canard” aspect. 😉

I changed it cause I felt the posters toneswas going that way, but since I only had a hunch and the poster didnt come out in that direction, I edited it out so I wouldnt be so “canard” with the political aspect…but hey…thanks anyway. 👍

Sorry, Faithful. The edit button is a double-edged sword.

But being rich can make you conservative!!!😃

Hence, the Church’s teaching on a living wage, to be guaranteed by the social order either by collective bargaining or government action.
Perhaps you need to poll employess of the Church - some interesting stories I’m sure.

Brad:
So how do you explain that the majority of Bishops were wrong during the Arian heresy?
And I hate to mention it, but there were those English bishops during Henry VIII’s season of marital discontent.

YEP…Well…then I think the man may have something to say worthwhile… if YOU are too fragile in your faith to read nothing BUT Catholic material in regards to Christianity, more power to ya… I however am open to ALL Christians perspectives in regards to the political issues… I’m secure in my faith that way.
From Liberalism is a Sin

Chapter 27 How to Avoid Liberalism
  1. Good journals: Choose from among good journals that which is best, the one best adapted to the needs and the intelligence of the people who surround you. Read it; but not content with that, give it to others to read; explain it; comment on it, let it be your basis of operations. Busy yourself in securing subscriptions for it. Encourage the reluctant to take it; make it easy for those to whom it seems troublesome to send in their subscriptions. Place it in the hands of young people who are beginning their careers. Impress on them the necessity of reading it; show them its merits and its value. They will begin by tasting the sauce and will at last eat the fish. This is the way the advocates of Liberalism and impiety work for their journals; so then ought we to work for ours. A good Catholic journal is a peremptory or imperative necessity in our day. Whatever be its defects or inconveniences, its advantages and its benefits will outweigh them a thousandfold. The Holy Father has said that “a Catholic paper is a perpetual mission in every parish.” It is ever an antidote to the false journalism that meets you on every side. In general, do all in your power to further the circulation of Catholic literature, be it in the shape of book, brochure, lecture, sermon or pastoral letter. The weapon of the crusader of our times is the printed word.

Wow. I’m fragile eh?

I enjoy quite a bit of non-Catholic but Christian Biblical teaching and filter out the non-Catholic part of it. There is a whole mess of good non-Catholic Christians out there.

The issue here is that this author is off base and you were willing to accept whatever he said just because of the title.

By, the way, being “open to all Christian perspective in regards to the political issues” may be a convenient way of finding someone who claims to be Christian and supports your viewpoint but it is not very conducive to being “faithful to Rome”, which requires religous assent to the teachings of the Church. Frequently, those claiming to be Christian are in opposition to the Church.

Tolerance is not a Christian virtue. Faithfulness is. Perhaps you could change your screen name to “Tolerance of Rome”, if you so desired.

What widsom.

I suggest:

“First Things” (whoops, I think there’s some non-Catholics on this one - shhhhh)

“Homiletic and Pastoral Review”

“New Oxford Review”

“This Rock”

“Catholic Standard & Times” - newspaper - Philadelphia

I’ve seen many posters quote approvingly from the writing of Dr. Felix Sarda y Salvany. He seems to be a respected authority in the mind of some. May I assume that those who post quotes of his so approvingly also concur with his worldview in general? Can I assume that they are also open to this gentleman’s thinking about what we used to call "the Jewish question? "

Everytime you do not agree with a referenced post you find some issue to try and discredit it.

Are you saying Dr. Felix Sarda y Salvany’s views on the Jews are a discredit? I simply made a inquiry.

StJeanneDArc:
I heard Jim Wallis debate the inestimable Fr. Robert Sirico on the Laura Ingraham show a couple of months ago. For a while Fr. Sirico had the MP3 file on his website: www.acton.org, but it’s no longer there, perhaps someone could find it archived somewhere.

Anyway, the debate was fascinating because it demonstrated that Jim Wallis really just wants to enact “social justice” by forceful redistribution of wealth. Wallis also makes the faulty assumption that conservatives don’t perform (or barely perform) any acts of mercy or charity–it’s maddening to see this again and again.

Wallis did another thing thing that I found really curious: he repeatedly referred to Martin Luther King, Jr. as Martin King. He did this again when I saw him on O’Reilly’s show a few weeks back. Whenever he did that, my brain had to do a little double-take to recall who he was naming. This is the first person I’ve ever heard not use Martin Luther King’s middle name. I’ve wondered why–Wallis is a protestant, so Luther should not be a dirty word to him.

I also want to note that Wallis is serving in some kind of capacity for the Democratic Party–advising them on religion and politics or something.
Regarding Dr. Martin Luther King jr, please read the excellent book: THE MARTIN LUTHER KING jr PLAGIARISM STORY by Theodore Pappas.
  1. Dr. Martin Luther King jr. committed massive plagiarism in his 1955 doctoral thesis at Boston University (B.U.); his PhD was quiety revoked!
  2. Martin Luther King jr. never legally changed his name from Michael to Martin.
  3. Michael King jr was a blatant communist sympathizer and was a willing dupe of C.P.U.S.A. and the communist management of the civil rights movement down South.
  4. Mike King jr. was a chronic adulterer, prefering white prostitutes, and was witnessed by Rev. Ralph Abernathy as to slamming white prostitutes up against a wall in his hotel room moments before he stepped out and was assassinated.
Exactly why in the world do we have a holiday for this guy?

Could you elaborate on this, particularly King’s connection with the Jewish-Bolshevik conspriacy, Catholic dissenters and Freemasonry?

Wasn’t King also known to support liberal, big government, social engineering programs like Fluoridated water?

Of course. And those that can’t walk and chew gum at the same time should devote themselves to that mission. The more able might actually be able to take on multiple tasks.
To be sure, such as those who promote nebulous ideas about “social justice” and forced wealth redistribution cloaked as Catholic teaching. If only the rest of the Church would aspire to your level of intellectual achievement…

Don’t know about your personal conspiracy theory issues, but what I had listed about Mike King jr. is all documented in the very good book: THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PLAGIARISM STORY by Theodore Pappas. You can order this book from amazon.com, I checked it out of the Boston Public Library.

Don’t you know that amazon.com was founded by two lesbians and they use the profits to promote vegitarianism and the castration of rapists?
