I am concerned about the soul of a loved one.

He is a non-married catholic who is now engaged to a divorced non-catholic. He was engaged to someone else when they met (a 3 year relationship). They started seeing each other and he was lying to both females. He seems to think that it was God’s will that he met this other woman. He has only known her a short time and became engaged to her 2 months after he became unengaged to the first woman.

He did not tell the first woman himself, the other woman contacted her.

It worries me that he believes that this other woman was God’s will. I am confused and need clarification on how to determine if something is God’s will or if it is just temptations to keep us from doing God’s will.

Please, any advice would be helpful. He is currently deployed and I am so afraid what would happen to his soul if he died suddenly.

God’s will always involves truth. The lies generated by your friend can never be from God. Does God want him to have this second woman? Perhaps only time will tell. But God only wills good and truth. Satan and sin involve lies. Apart from just knowing this we must leave the judgment of your friend’s soul in the mercy of God. We cannot judge a person’s soul since God knows them better than they know themselves…teachccd

Thank you teachccd. I think I already assumed what you said about satan being involved in the lies and sins. I have just recently started doing a lot of soul searching myself. I have not led the life that I need to in order for me to have a relationship with God. I just recently “woke up” and realized a lot of things. God is patient and so wonderful.

I want to be able to give my friend concrete “evidence” for why his thinking is impossible, but I dont want to sound like a hypocrite. That is one of many reasons I came to this site.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to respond.

You are more than welcome. And welcome to this forum!! You will be in my prayers. I am also glad that our God is so patient with me. We must always persevere in saying what is right. We may sound like hypocrites since nobody is perfect. We are all in this together helping one another as we go. God bless you and message me with anything and I will do my best to help… peace…teachccd
