Going back to the church after years away I was visited by a demon - is there anyone out there with a similar experience? Can someone explain it?

Gittles, very fascinating and thank you for sharing.

Just curious, what is the state of the Church in Sweden currently? Are any parishes offering the Latin Mass after Moto Proprio?

Thanks for asking. Well, we’re a tiny minority and almost all Swedish catholics are either converts or born in some other country than Sweden (central Europe, Latin America and, increasingly common, Africa). I’m a rare born and bred.
I don’t think I can speak for all of Sweden when it comes to the extraordinary form but in my town there are two “old” masses to choose from every Sunday. One silent and one cantata. Eight o clock in the morning and noon.
Of course, Sweden is a horrible country in many ways and it effects the catholics as well, but those who remain in the church has a tendency towards traditionalism. When I go abroad I’m often struck by the guitar-and-handclap-approach to mass music for example. I was raised with Missa de Angelis on most feast days and I sing Palestrina in the church choir. These traditional leanings among Swedish catholics are best explained by our littleness. This is a reformed-secularized-hedonized country. And we desperately need to feel our connection to Rome. We don’t want our masses to feel like the services in the Swedish lutheran church and so we love our gregorian chants.
The old mass, consequently, wasn’t that much of a leap for us, and most people don’t think it’s very important which form of the roman rite they attend. I happen to really enjoy the old form, but usually end up going to the new simply because I want to go to mass with my family.
During the time the Motu Proprio was published, though, I was in Italy and I got a chance to see what an infected subject this is to a lot of catholics …

We can pray. Fortunately, some demons are cast out only through prayer (Mark 9:29). Until we get an exorcist, we can only pray.
I see your point and I would not have you stop praying. But every diocese is supposed to have an exorcist. Not to mention archdioceses. And you can complain. Not just because of what happened to you - but because there’s probably others in great need of help. Let Rome know, I say. But do it humbly. And let your archbishop know what your doing.

I’d just like to slip in a little apology here… I just realised the impact my comment has had on some people here and I’m very sorry that some people were so offended.

I typed it not thinking… it wasn’t meant as an insult, and I apologise.

We all make mistakes, and need forgiveness. Please consider, you need not be anti-Catholic just because you are Protestant. That simply means we share a high percentage of beliefs, but differ on others. We disagree on church authority and the Sacraments, but share so much more.

Also, recall that demons exist to divide where there is unity. They are negative in nature and seek only to destroy. It is the Holy Spirit Who unites. Let us work toward unity and brotherly love, as Christ admonished us, since the evil one divides without sleeping.

The peace of Christ always be with you.

It’s all forgotten by now 🙂
And, as I’ve already written, it did show some real conviction. You’re certainly not luke-warm!

this shows how easy it is to do the devil’s work and not even really mean to… or, sometimes people make rude remarks because they are really angry/frustrated or what have you over something else… In any case, it is just another thing that shows our need for all the power Jesus Christ has to offer… and my life story is testimony to the fact that only the Church He founded has that power… (too bad everyone in the Church doesn’t utilize that power, but it IS there…)…

what do you expect from someone who… (fill in the blanks) ______

… cares enough about other people to warn them they are heading the wrong way?

If in your mind you knew I was going to hell, would you not do anything you could to wake me out of my slumber?

Or would you apply cruel kindness and let me be? That’s my heart for all Catholics… I’ve been where you are, and I’ve found something amazing that I want to share with you. If I get overzealous, I apologise… but I won’t apologise for trying to share Jesus with you all. If I’m right, would you thank me for standing back and doing nothing? I think not.

My brother (or sister) in Christ, this may absolutely shock you, but we have Christ in the Flesh. We have seven Sacraments established by Christ. We have hands-on Apostolic authority passed down from the Twelve. We have devotions sufficient for the entire earth. We have even more time-tested scripture, authorized and canonized by the same authority which gave you your KJV! In short, the Catholic church, the oldest organization in the world, has more of everything than all other churches. We will leave it for NOTHING!

Now, those who are lukewarm and poorly catechized you will carry away. But, rest assured that they have walked away from Christ in the Flesh, settling for less than they had. We invite YOU! Christ in the Flesh! Imagine if Jesus in His human body was preaching in the Catholic church. You would go to see, correct? Well, He is there, but you must have faith to believe this - more faith than other traditions, because what appears as bread and wine is Christ. All churches have some truth in them. Some a little, some a lot, but all have some. The Catholic church is the one, the only that has the fulness of truth, guarded by the Hand of God! There is everything you could ever hope for.

When you are tired of endless bible interpretations that disagree, tired of searching for more, weary from this world attacking you due to your love of Christ, come home! His Body and Blood will nourish your spirit and body. You will, for the first time in your life, be in the presence of Christ. You will carry him with you and in you, just as He promised. You may preach and teach all you want, but we hear less than what we already have! That is not persuasive. We invite all who love Christ to partake of Him. Eternal life is worth nothing less!

Christ’s peace be always with you.

How can a real relationship with Jesus Himself be better than taking communion and just feeling peaceful for a while about it? You can stir yourself up at how awesome it is all you like… I’ve BEEN there! For the last 32 years of my life I have been participating in that communion with you… the last year of my life however has been the most amazing thing, talking and communing with God’s holy spirit in me. I know I probably won’t change your minds, but I realised that Christ’s sacrifice was DONE. Meaning God’s grace is a free gift, I could be forgiven of all my sin in the blink of an eye and that’s it! Yes, in this world nothing can be given for free… we all ask… what’s the catch? Surely God would want something in return for this amazing gift, but He doesn’t. God’s grace is a free gift that He alone gives when you trust Him by faith to give it to you. (Eph 2: 4)

I pray you too find this grace one day.

Started a new thread to discuss what you wrote, since it is off topic of this thread:

Eucharist & Relationship with Jesus

Anyone seeking reliable Catholic information on evil spirits, Satan, Satanism see this post and other related subjects…and in the same thread, for Catholic information on ghosts and hauntings see this post

I agree with everything you have said. It sounds like you were attending mass in the Catholic church. If so, I know not why you have departed, seeking perceived joy. Christ was present right where you were! What spirit has lead you away from Christ toward apparent joy elsewhere? This sounds painfully like a husband finding temporary joy in the arms of another. But, the day comes.

How and why do you believe that only you have this? Can’t you tell from the fervency of Catholic responses that we have this joy, we have this perfect, one-on-one relationship with Christ? Being filled with the Holy Spirit, Who does all good things on earth, we partake of the original and only Lord’s supper. We have nowhere else to go. Every other promise we have seen and heard is empty. It is a facade being put forth by the father of lies. The joy is only permanent, only eternal when it is the Body, Bloood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ that we carry in us through the Eucharist. Nothing else satisfies.

May the Lord allow you a good, long and productive life as He gently and lovingly guides you to all truth. Amen.

How do you dare presume where i am eternally destined?? Are you God??
That’s my heart for all Catholics… I’ve been where you are,
If you have not studied Catholicism in an official, orthodox RCIA class… and not been Catholic for many, many years, do not presume to know “where I’ve been”… do you know how presumptous you sound??
I’ve found something amazing that I want to share with you. If I get overzealous, I apologise… but I won’t apologise for trying to share Jesus with you all. If I’m right, would you thank me for standing back and doing nothing? I think not.
If you are trying to save souls… that is great… all the more power to you… but i think you should be spending your time trying to convert non-believers… If you had ever taken the time take the aformentioned RCiA classes, you would find out that we are not in that category…

Martin Luther already divided the Church… Why do Christians fight one another and divide it even further?? Makes no sense… it is very un-Christian…

Yes, please move this discussion someplace else. Partly because it is off topic, and partly because I don’t like the way it’s starting to sound …
