Look Ruzz,
Donāt put me down because you donāt even know what āChurch Militantā means, although the Catholics on here mostly do, especially those who have been around any length of time. Look it up, Iām not gonna waste time explaining it to ya.
Sorry brother⦠I didnāt mean anything derogatory about it. Just that your tone seemed a bit agressive. I did not know there was another meaning. My applogies.
My point is that I do understand you and your religion and I know what most of you are all about.
Hey, wait a minute. You donāt know me or my religion. Isnāt this the very attitude that you detest in n-C religions? They tell YOU what YOU beleive.
Isnāt this the kind of Rhetoric that we all dislike? Words like āI know what most of you are all aboutā make a lot of assumptions. If I was to say this to you, I would expect you to be offended.
I feel pretty much the same way about n-C religions as you do about ours, the difference being that I donāt go to n-C forums and spout rhetoric.
Again, you donāt know what I feel about you or your religion. What about my posts is rhetoric. Iām merely stating that a person can visit a Temple/Mosque or n-C church to visit and learn. Ok, youāve been there and done that. But Iāve never been to Moscow, but Iād love to go and visit. That doesnāt make me un-American. Visiting a n-C church wonāt make you any less Catholic in my opinion. Thatās my point.
I think if people tried harder to understand each other, there would be a lot fewer debates and more respect. Personally, Iāve learned a HUGE amount from visiting forums and finding out directly from believers rather than relying on long lived stereotypes and websites with real rhetoric.
I donāt attend n-C churches because they have no message for me and most times itās something contrary in some way to Catholic teaching. (Not the least of which is that most all of them preach Sola Scriptura. Since I disagree with that I find it almost useless to listen to their messages. In the end they offer an easy path to sakvation that I think disagrees with the Bible that they claim is their sole source of authority.
I would not suggest that ANYone visit a n-C church or Mosque or Temple regularly. MY only point was out of curiosity, I see nothing wrong with a field trip to learn about other religions.
I might find more in common with a Moslem or an Orthodox Jew since they at least make no effort to convert me and our discussions go from there based on mutual respect.
It sounds like you have had some poor experiences. I can understand your feelings.
One thing that I apppreciate about them is that they donāt attempt to tell me what I supposedly
believe as a Catholic whereas it seems that every prot/n-C poster in here thinks he knows more about what we believe than we do.and will not listen even when shown by one of us that they do not.
I agree. This is a huge problem. I think a lot of it stems from what it ālooksā like and not what it is. The world has many prejudices to overcome.
I make no effort to convert prots so long as they do not attempt to evangelize me or those that I love. Once they cross that lineā¦I reserve the right to return their evangelism in kind and if they donāt like itā¦too bad.
I agree with this. However, many people feel the need follow the command to tell āthe good newsā. Catholics donāt seem to be very āpushyā in their faith. I appreciate that. Much better than the extremes we find in many Islamic countries where you convert/pay tax or die.
Most of the folks on this forum are wonderful people. But Iām really getting tired of walking on eggshells when I post. If I make anything that is not a glorious praise of Rome, I can be sure that eventually someone will come down on me. Iāve been āstalkedā to see what Iāll post next.
I come here to learn. Catholics complain that non-Catholics donāt undertstand them. Thatās what Iām trying to do.
I post in the ānon-catholic religionsā forum where I thought it was safe for a non-Catholic to post without harrassment.
Hey, I have NOTHING against the RCC. I have great respect for people who follow this religion. I was baptized and confirmed there. My entire family is there and I donāt evangelize them. However, if I see someone making an assumption about non-Cats or something that I donāt understand I will attempt to chime in.
Pax Vobiscum
