There is such a thing as evil in this world and such a thing as good. It is simply not true that all is relative and similar. Beheading Iraqi civilians with a saw on the Internet is absolutely evil. Helping children in Mosul get pure water is absolute good. Sending homicide bombers to blow up elementary schools at a kibbutz is evil. Treating the children of your enemies in the finest hospitals in Israel is good.

In Europe and Asia and South America and in much of North America, this idea is unknown. All is relative and the only point is to get away another day without having the evil ones attack you. Appeasing the terrorists, ignoring them and their instigators, pretending that the good guys are the bad guys – all of these are now standard practice in the capitals of the world, and in the academies of America and in the Democratic Party at high levels.

There is one great man standing between us and this capitulation to evil: that man is George Bush, and he has two great allies, Tony Blair and John Howard. If we did not have George Bush at the helm, if we had a moral relativist like Kerry or Gore, we would even now be playing the same appeasing games as Chamberlain played with Hitler, and which France and Germany, Spain and Italy, Norway and Belgium, tragically, even Canada, play with the enemies of the human spirit.

By a great providence, we were sent George Bush. In his mind, there is such a thing as evil. Terrorism is evil. Racism is evil. The murder of unborn babies is evil. Torturing a totally innocent Terri Schiavo to death is evil. He sees it, acts on it, actively works not just to get along day by day, but to keep evil at bay and to overcome it where it can be overcome. As time goes by, I come to realize that George Bush, with all of his faults, is the spiritual heir to Abraham Lincoln, to Martin Luther King, Jr., to Winston Churchill, to the late Pope John Paul II. How unbelievably lucky we are to have him, and how grateful we should be.

The terrifying part is that he will be gone from power in less than three years. Then what? The evil will remain in men’s souls, and who will be there to fight it? We have to start thinking right now of who sees and recognizes the difference between good and evil and start energizing ourselves to make that man or woman President. George Bush’s shoes will be terrifyingly difficult to fill.

Heaven help us, now I’ve heard everything. George Bush being groomed for sainthood!!!

Now I know the end of the world is nigh.:bigyikes:

p.s. if George is so good, why did Terry Shiavo die and why is there still abortion in America?

if you’re so good why did Terry Shiavo die and why is there still abortion in America? and why aren’t you the president?

Because by the grace of God and the brilliance of my parents I don’t live in America.
p.s. Nobody has decided I should be a saint either!!!😃

Thanks for the post gilliam…but my tummy hurts from laughing so hard.

Bush a great man being sent by a great providence… :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bush takes pride in being resolute, decisive, and
consistent, and up to a point these can be good
qualities. Bad news doesn’t unnerve or discourage him. He
will “stay the course,” as Richard Nixon did in Vietnam.
The question, of course, is whether he can recognize when
it’s time to cut his – and the country’s – losses.

He has hardly varied his approach since the 9/11
attacks. He immediately announced a “war on terror,”
beginning with the Taliban in Afghanistan and soon adding
Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq. Both were quickly
toppled, but both wars have continued, yet he still
insists on talking as if the enemy hasn’t changed. His
recent speech explicitly connected the current Iraq war to
September 11, yet made no mention of Osama bin Laden,
al-Qaeda, or the actual perpetrators of those attacks.

I’m reminded of the novel, Moby Dick, where Moby Dick is the manifestation of evil incarnate. A previous encounter with Moby Dick has left Captain Ahab with one leg only (the other having been chewed off by Moby Dick). Ahab knows the Bible instructs us all to escheweth evil (stay away from it), but he can’t leave it alone and by hubris is driven to seek it out and attempt to eliminate this thing, evil incarnate, from the World. The result is complete disaster. Why? Because it is not possible to go after and eliminate evil incarnate. It is a many headed monster that will always return.

Making the World safe for democracy is crackpot politics. Does Bush know how to cut his losses?

Did you have a comment regarding the article? Nothing you wrote above has anything to do with it. Please stay on topic as it makes these discussions interesting.

  • As FDR did in WWII when people were telling him we lost and need an exit plan
  • As Churchill did during the Blitz when people were telling him they lost and need an exit plan
  • As Pope JPII did with communism when people were telling him we lost and need an exit plan
  • As Regan did with communism when people were telling him we lost and need an exit plan
  • As George Washington did in the American Revolution when people were telling him we lost and need an exit plan
  • As Patton did in the war to liberate Europe when people were telling him we lost and need an exit plan
I could go on like this all day.

Two answers.
  1. Because the president doesn’t have absolute power. Decades of immoral politicians, and corrupt judges (who seem to think they do have absolute power) have created laws (and written laws from the bench) that no president can overturn by himself.
  2. People keep electing pro-abortion and pro-death politicians. Perhaps people like you (if you’ve voted for any democrats, then you’ve done a lot to keep abortion legal), and certainly far too many christians and catholics.

Is dropping a bomb on Baghdad, recognizing that innocent civilians will be killed, a good thing or an evil thing?

You brought this up. Why don’t you answer it?

By the way, your history is wrong. Richard Nixon came into office intending to find an exit strategy in Vietnam.

…“By the way, your history is wrong. Richard Nixon came into office intending to find an exit strategy in Vietnam.”

President Nixon came into office with “a secret plan to end the war.” He planned to threaten to do nasty things like Ike threatened to do to stop Korea. When that failed, he switched to the “Vietnamization” plan and “peace with honor.” Afterall, our responsibility attenuates with time.

Wow! GREAT ANALOGY using Moby Dick!

From now on if I can remember, I will address Bush as “Captain Ahab”! 👍

Better spend more time on history Gilliam instead of all the links you hunt out in support of a war the Church has spoken against… 😉

Nixon (Tricky Dick) lied about his intentions for Vietnam in order to get elected… Just like Bush and Cheney threatened mushroom clouds and similar disasters if we didnt go to war with Iraq or reelect Captain Ahab for a second term…

Its called LYING to get what ya want. :tiphat:

No you didnt… 👍

This reminds me of a previous poster who basically spelled out the true path to salvation as long as one followed thusly…

George Washington
The Pope
George Bush

:rotfl:

If “Divine Providence” put this crazy man in office, its not to bless the nation, its to CHASTISE IT.

And Chastisement we have…

The poor are crying out due to unfair trade and labor laws…
We have lies and deciet
We have war and more rumors of wars

All under the guise of someone who drips the name Christ off his lips and does things contrary to his teachings.

Vietnamization was the exit plan he went with. And you know, it worked. Vietnam stood on its own. The problems occured when the US Congress didn’t act as the North broke every treaty they signed and re-invaded the South that the South was lost. The US promised the South protection and the US Congress reniged on that promise. Funny how we forget that part…
