Where can I find TV show reviews that will let me know which shows are not a danger to my faith?

This aspect of our modern society is odd imo…we all know how immoral society is these days, sex and violence are the norm, but when it comes to network TV, they seem to be living back the 50s, if you watch any primetime tv on pretty much any network, even cable (only exception would be pay channels, like HBO), it is common for them ‘bleep’ out very very tame curse words, Ive even heard them censor out the 3 letter word for a persons butt…this is going a bit too far imo, but, who am I to say? LOL

Ive noticed this for awhile now, it seem like the rest of the world is getting less and less moral, but when it comes to TV, they are the only ones I can think of that are sticking to very high morals and ethics, which is strange in itself, as this is the entertainment industry, Hollywood, …???

Its not just what they choose to censor out either, Ive noticed some tv shows, like the Simpsons, which used to be known for pushing the envelope, is now, fairly ethical, the characters, given the opportunity to do something immoral or unethical, like cheat on a spouse, take drugs, etc, will ALWAYS do the ‘right’ thing, this is really strange to me, I dont understand it…I thought Hollywood was pushing their agenda???.

How can this one area be immune to the rest of society? Especially when most people debate how immoral the entertainment industry has become…if big screen movies are in line with society, why would tv be any different?

I was hoping to find some ratings on Netflix shows. Breaking Bad did not have a lot of sex but Dexter did. Orange is the New Black had a lot of sex and I am disappointed I will not be able to watch the next seaon.

Hi!

You are doing the right thing!
Jesus said in the bible; “The eye is the light of the body, so if your eye is full of light then you are filled with all manner of good things, but if your eye is full of darkness, how great is that darkness!”

“If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out, for it is better to go into heaven missing one eye, than with the whole body be cast into hell!”

I see you are doing some plucking my brother,

What I do is;

Google “parental review of ______” (mention film or programme)
Also Use the imdb website or app,
Type in the film and click “parents guide” and it will tell you all the content in the film unsuited to children such as specific impurity or cursing (and WE are children of God),

Generally films age 12 and especially 15 age films have impurity and terrible language.

Please avoid impure tv / films! And confess if you have watched impure content. Its in the confession book guidelines, and priests giving a general walk through the commandments will ask, “Have you watched impure content on tv or magazines.”

Pornography has almost been desensitized on tv

Society may support things, but Jesus message is unchanging

You will also have to be.courageous.against otherstgat you watch.tv.with, or go to cinema with.
Make judgements of what you will not watch.and be.firm.
Look up the film online.before hand as mentioned.
You can tell them, “I would not like the film.” or if God wants.you to evangelise you could tell them why

Be careful, “Cast not your pearls on swine.”
People may not want to hear that its a sin to indulge in deliberate watching of impure content content

The rating system is not bad, at least in the US.

It may not tell you whether or not something is morally good, but it will tell you if there is objectionable material (the letters under the age rating). I don’t watch any MA-rated programs and only a few 14-rated, if I feel they have artistic merit or value even if the content is questionable a few times. It’s been my experience that anything MA-rated is there primarily for shock value or “because we can” (a la HBO). But not always for 14.

For the most part the Turner Classic Movie ( TCM ) channel has great movies that are morally acceptable. Mainly the movies from the '40s & '50s.

If this is true, then, why does every single tv network shy away from showing even the slightest amount of nudity, they dont even show such things late at night, like after 10pm!!

I’m speaking about over here in ireland

Very bad situation with tv, time of day is not always respected with what is put on tv here
