Ran across this video which this woman shares her reasons for attending the TLM over the NO. Very insightful.
Excuse my denseness–it’s late and I’ve been at work for 14 hours straight with only a few breaks (that included checking out CAF).It’s possible some Catholics believe there is an enemy within our ranks to be weeded out, and blindly holding hands to sing kumbaya to the world is something we can do but only after the crack in the temple letting in satan’s smoke is fixed.
It was a serious a comment, apologies for the confusion. It was meant to address the divide you mentioned among Catholics regarding preferred forms of Mass. For example I personally see it as Catholics debating objectively better ways to practice the Faith, assuming as the Pope did after V2 concluded that some malicious spirit entered the temple through a crack. The debate is constructive even if it appears to lack unity. Is this a serious comment, or are you being facetious?
So…if the malicious spirit entered the temple through a crack, what happened when the windows of the Church were opened wide?It was a serious a comment, apologies for the confusion. Yeah. I agree.I know for myself I can definitely sympathize with the video and I think there are certain aspects of the TLM that draw many people to it. Naturally, when asked why a person prefers the TLM, many of the reasons that are given are unintentionally taken as a derogatory claim against the NO.
I think many people share a similar belief to the woman in the video. However, this line of reasoning isn’t generally received well. Because I’ve often heard the claim that others make and it usually sounds something like “…well the Church in its wisdom has allowed for it now…”
So the issue then is no longer about what is reverent and proper, but what is permissible. Which aren’t the same thing.
