I do not want to single out spartan_cop. I’m taking advantage of the statement below, because it is a commonly held misconception about the purpose of TC forum.
The whole point for the traditional section was for those who enjoyed traditional practices to come together and chat
CLARIFICATION
TC forum is a place where anyone can discuss Catholic traditions and customs that do not fit into one of the other forums.
It must be clearly understood that it is not a traditionalist only forum, nor an EF only forum. The Ordinary Form of the mass is as much part of Catholic tradition as are the other forms and rites. Throughout history, there have always been elements in Catholicism that were new once-upon-a- time. That does not make them any less a part of our faith tradition given time. We expect people to refer to it and to those who attend the OF with respect. We also expect those who are not attracted to the Extraordinary Form of the mass to speak of it and those who are attracted to it with respect and kindness. This also goes for the other rites in the Latin and Eastern Churches.
There are other subjects that are equally important to Catholicism and form part of our rich heritage such as:
- different schools of spirituality,
- forms of prayer and devotions,
- religious communities,
- Church history,
- saints,
- Church law,
- Judeo-Christian history and traditions,
- great works of Catholic writing and much more.
I have been closing threads on veiling, because if one does a search, there are many threads on this subject and dress codes throughout our forums. Those threads have answers to questions that people may have.
Remember, TC forum is for the purpose of education. Discussions should lead to knowledge. It should be a place where people help each other to find answers, not a place to complain about the Church, bishops, Vatican II, the liturgy, pope or anything else that we dislike.
If I allow this, very quickly we lose those people who come seeking answers. These good people usually have had enough complaining and conflicts in their current situations and are looking to the Church and to us for a safe haven.
Everyone, please keep this in mind.
Thank you
