I’ve been involved in class action lawsuits, mostly without my knowledge. The most I’ve received out of my settlement were gift cards.

With a class action lawsuit, the attorneys get 1/3 of the settlement, and the plaintiffs, I assume all those who have used google, share the rest.

So if successful, we might get a few dollars.

Yeah, someone asked me to explain this to them yesterday.

InCognito mode (Chrome, Chromium), Private Mode (Safari), and (name removed by moderator)rivate Browsing (Edge) were never meant to make someone annonymous. They prevent information from one’s browser session from being save to the local device. For shared computers once the Incognito sessions are closed the next person that uses the computer can’t go into the browsing history to see what sites were vieited.

It does not make someone annonymous. It doesn’t prevent servers from keeping their own records on a visit. It doesn’t prevent employers from seeing what sites are being visited. It only prevents history and cookies from being saved locally. If someone signs into an account then that opens up the opportunity for lots of tracking to occur.

Some states on the misconceptions people have on InCognito mode:
