No rebuke at all. That’s a common belief and it’s true in a way. For us christians. Let’s take a bible study for example. I don’t know how much you know about judaism but you should be pretty proficent with it to understand even how the bible’s written. For example after the flood common belief is that there were 8 people left. Incest is a sin so how did the elect keep from sinning.
That has been explained countless times by Christians before. I would suggest researching their responses, especially in regards to Adam and Eve and their offspring.
The high priests and Abraham communicated with god through divination. Yet it’s a mortal sin in my faith.
I am not aware of them talking to God through divination, therefore I’m uncertain what you’re talking about.
Onan was struck dead by god for spilling his seed on the ground. This happens all the time and he’s the only person I’ve ever heard of being struck dead.
I would suggest a study of that story a bit closer. For one, Onan did it a couple of times, not just once (Gen 38:9). Also, his sin was not so much the fact he spilled his seed, but that he rejected his father’s advice to “go in to your brother’s wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother” (Gen 38:8) for selfish reasons. The incident also had long-term effects: Tamar was sent away by Judah for the next brother to Er and Onan would die, Judah and Tamar met and conceived of children, from whose lineage came Christ (Mt 1:3).
Scriptures are written in allegory even moreso than literally.
Jesus and the apostles did not think so. They often quoted scripture as fact. Can you give an example where Christ and the apostles said or treated the scriptures as simply allegory?
Also, that you can’t explain certain contradictions isn’t evidence something is automatically allegory.
Before you can understand comparative religion you must understand your own.
With all due respect, from our conversation, which displayed you haven’t really read into what Christians have said about certain problems and issues, as well as your constant refusal to go to scripture, as well as your inability to respond to simple accusations like “How have I misused Acts 4:12”, I think the person who doesn’t really understand the faith they claim to belong to is yourself. You should not be running and finding truth in other religions when you do not even grasp the truth that is in Christ. Again, before you respond or attempt to defend yourself, I ask you to consider your salvation with all seriousness.
