I am starting this new thread. In Manny’s thread about the Ten Commandments we started talking about Grace. We are saved by Grace through Faith.
This subject matter was not really going off topic from Manny’s thread because by obeying the Ten Commandments we receive more Grace. But we could actually start a whole new thread on GRACE.
I was replying to simbagizmo in the other thread and that’s when I decided to start this new thread on GRACE. Here is my reply to simbagizmo;
The Holy Spirit makes it possible for me to receive Sanctifying Grace. I can “kill” that grace by sinning and not repenting. When that happens, the Holy Spirit departs from me and I die. I no longer have life in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said “he who eats this bread and drinks this cup will have eternal life.” That bread is the Body & Blood of Jesus Christ. In order to receive Him I must be free from mortal sin. Which is why I should go to confession before receiving Jesus. I confess my veniel sins because I could use all the Grace I can get. With that, I can then receive Jesus and have LIFE.

I stated that I received Sanctifying Grace at baptism. Having Faith is, I guess you could say, a process. I’m being converted every day. It’s not just a one time thing. I have to keep doing something in order to keep receiving more Grace. I do that by showing my Faith. But initially I did nothing to receive SANCTIFYING Grace; that was at my baptism. That was God’s free gift to me. Free because I did nothing to deserve it.OK, you have confused me with your statments. Please help. You stated that you received the gift of salvation at baptism by Grace, and you did nothing. I assume by this you were baptized as an infant. Then you agreed that you receive the free gift of salvation through Faith.
