What a beautiful reflection! Thank you for sharing it!
If that–age-- is your only hesitation about this community, I wouldn’t let that stand in your way. This gives me a bit more hope about the monastery I visited this weekend. The youngest monk there is 51 years old right now, which makes me a little worried about the idea of joining that particular community.
I understand what you mean because the Carmelite monastery that I was seriously discerning with hadn’t had a postulant in 20 years, so they were hurting for vocations. I didn’t want their age to stand in my way, and I decided that if God was truly calling me there, He would make it my “home.” Well, I discerned that it was not my community, and I ended communication with them for the time being. I found out, through the Prioress, before then that they got 2 new postulants! So I am rejoicing that the community is finally getting vocations! Even if they are from Kenya…This gives me a bit more hope about the monastery I visited this weekend. The youngest monk there is 51 years old right now, which makes me a little worried about the idea of joining that particular community.
