Does anyone watch this show?
There are a few issues with premarital sex but aside from that (not that the previous is okay) I found the writing of the show to be really good.
Your thoughts?

I’ve seen a few episodes. Like you, I find the personal lives of many of the characters disturbing, but I like the way the show handles many of the professional dilemmas. I think the characters’ conflicts of conscience are portrayed in a fairly honest way. Never having been to medical school, I have no clue how realistic it is, though.

I sure thought it was interesting that they had an actual DOCTOR – and a good one, not the town joker – say “an epidural increases the liklihood of a c-section!” as she refused one…I almost fell off the couch!!! I like the show – it’s pretty mild by today’s low standards (which admitedly, are pretty darn low) but I think it’s doing a good job of fixing my “ER” wants since I don’t want to even bother watchign that anymore

I don’t understand something…watching a show where premarital sex is rampant…multiple partners are rampant…is “tolerable” yet, a movie like “Brokeback Mountain” is to be condemned?? Hmmmm …I don’t get it.

I tuned in to “GA” one evening and everyone was in bed with everyone else most of the time

Good point, Katie.

In my opinion, it’s one of the three best shows on TV. The other two being Lost and 24.

Anyway, last night’s episode was absolutely riveting. This week won’t go by fast enough for me. I can’t wait to see the conclusion next Sunday.

I think it stongly depends on the individual, some might think “Its all harmless entertainment” while other think deeper, about how these things actually influence society, and the fact that tv and movies are such a huge part of everyones lives. Did you know that after “Will & Grace” came on the air, many teens said that it was easier to come out of the closet? Because the show became so popular and a lot of people seen it as the norm now. When before a network wouldn’t even dare show a gay kiss on television.

As for Brokeback Mountain, many people don’t want to give their money to a movie that is just another stepping stone to the gay right’s movement. This movie was a big leap because where have you seen a movie before about 2 gay cowboys? and since this movie did so well, big production companies aren’t going to shy away from homosexual lead storylines, knowing that it brought in the dough. And I for one wouldn’t put my hard earned money into a movie that supports the idea of a homosexual relationship is “of the norm”, but then again you have other people who think “It’s just a harmless movie”, so it is purely up to the individual.

I would never spend a dime supporting a move like Brokeback Mountain.

I think there is a difference between TV and going to the movies. If something is objectionable on TV, I shut it off. Like last night, there was a part of GA that wasn’t appropriate so we just switched stations until it was off.

I do like the characters, but don’t condone the immoral acts.
I would much rather watch something like GA which has other plots, such as having parents who are aging and sick, childbirth, the struggle to know who you are, etc. as opposed to Will and Grace which is obvious propaganda.

When in doubt my husband and I always turn to each other to keep each other in check of what we are watching.

I thought last nights episode was incredibly interesting, it really showed the limits of human emotions in the face of crisis.

All time favorite show, cant wait for the DVD release! I love George he is so cute and Kristina is my hero! haha! I love her attitude about life and work, my husband teases me and says i can be Kristina-ish sometimes, like last nights episode where she is trying to get Meridith out of bed, I have been in that scene a hundred times with my sisters and friends! " get up out of the bed life goes on now move move move!" My heart was racing by the end of last nights episode! it was one hit after the other after the other. It was an amazing episode but this show has never disappointed me. its this show, Desperate Housewives and Commander and Chief that my hubby and I can agree on and enjoy watching together.

NO WAY! the other two are Commander and Chief and Survivor! 😉

:nope: Just because it’s better than a lot of other shows out there doesn’t mean that we should watch such indecent things. It’s not good for our souls, and anyone who disagrees needs to watch a few Mother Angelica Classic episodes 🙂

Remember that money that goes to the same studio or distributor for other movies eventually ends up finanvcing movies like Brokeback.

There are some people who object to Mother Angelica coming into their living rooms. I figure if they don’t like her they can just use the remote.

Unfortunately I have seen an episode and a half of the first season :(. I wouldn’t be making judgements about it if I hadn’t. What exactly is so wonderful about this garbage? I haven’t wasted any time watching the second season, though–so did it make a drastic improvement morally speaking in season 2?

Mother Angelica is welcome in our home any time 🙂 Now *that * is something worth watching!

You know for some people it is just a TV show, I love the show I think the story lines are wonderful and exciting, My best friend is a resident right now and he said the work load and problems on that show are pretty realistic. I am mature enough and reasonable enough to know what is drama and what is real life. I love the show, never miss it and I cant wait for it to come out on DVD when i for sure will be buying it. now if some people cant watch stuff like this without realizing its TV and not all situations are morally healthy then they shouldnt watch the show, but for the rest of us who can just enjoy a good drama/comedy theres nothing wrong with it. I liked Lord of the Rings too but I dont believe their are hobbits running around my back yard or that dropping a ring in a volcano is a good idea.

And I am mature enough to stay away from trash on TV 😉 . I’ve never been one to “eat up” promiscuous story lines. I’ve never been into romance novels–never cracked one open. But I guess from your reply that Grey’s Anatomy has continued in the same moral stink-hole in which it began.

Hmmm… what about virtual pornography (where the pictures are purely computer-generated)? That’s not “real life” either… I wonder if you are mature and reasonable enough to enjoy that too?

I’m going to call a spade a spade, and Grey’s Anatomy *is * indecent entertainment.

I often am surprised at how different people see the same TV show and focus on very different things. Some people seem to home right in on anything having to do with sex. Others hardly notice that and home in on the comedy, violence, story line, or costumes.

I think the experience of watching a TV show is much like looking in a mirror. We see what we like and ignore the rest.
