How funny was Dr. Bailey’s comment to George:

“O’Malley, stop looking at my vajayjay!”

…All I am saying is that with respect to people on this forum I think we need to give a little credit for personal discernment about what is appropriate and inappropriate.
And this, too, should apply to movies like “Brokeback Mountain”

Now, see, you couldn’t pay me enough to see that. No matter how “artistic” it is supposed to be, that is way beyond my limits. 😉

Oh, for folks who call GA trash and Desperate housewives “okay”, I guess the scene where Gabby was nearly naked in lingerie didn’t offend?

Well, Listener had this to say about why Desperate Housewives is better than Grey’s Anatomy (I don’t recall them actually calling either show a “good quality show” though):

*“The people on Desperate Housewives just can’t get away with a thing (including illicit sex) without some negative consequence happening. When Bree’s whacko pharmacist boyfriend wanted her to sleep with him, she broke out in hives! When the “gofer” employee on Desperate Housewives had sex with the boss, she ended up getting fired!” *

Listener went on to say that on Grey’s Anatomy, people live immoral lifestyles without any negative consequences portrayed.

But since I no longer waste my time watching either of these **morally offensive ** shows, I have no business sharing my opinion on the matter. I was just answering your question, LynnieLew. You said, “I think we need to give a little credit for personal discernment about what is appropriate and inappropriate,” but it seems that you’re only willing to give credit to those who see nothing wrong with watching these immoral shows.

Oh, and does that mean *you * see nothing wrong with a nearly-naked Gabby plastered all over your television set on Sunday evenings?

I never said I left it on.

Okay, we watched this two-parter, but it was the first and will be the last. Way not enough medical stuff, way too much other stuff.

I’ve never been into romance novels–never cracked one open.
Never read a romance novel?
I highly recommend Jane Eyre – it’s very Christian and uplifting. But maybe you consider that a classic and not a romance novel?

I’ve never seen the show under discussion, but sounds like it portrays all the medical staff as hopping in and out of bed with each other. As a nurse, I find that offensive, especially since nurses are usually picked on in the media as sex objects. Hospital staff are much too busy to be doin’ that stuff, and probably too exhausted after work too.

I just watched the second-parter of GA (had it DVR’d), and I agree that it doesn’t have enough medical stuff, and more to do with the personal lives of the characters.

Which begs the questions (for those who have seen it and may want to start another thread on this): What would you do if you knew that you were going to die today?

Frankly, having pre-marital sex does not rank high on my list!

Overall, GA is entertaining, but it’s a show I can do without.

I made that point earlier. I agree with you.

Last night’s show was FANTASTIC! I seriously think this is the best show on television right now. I just LOVE it!!!

I read an interview with Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) and she said that one of the interns is leaving the internship program. Now, she didn’t word it so that it dounded like this person was leaving the show, but I would hate to lose any of the characters. I think the group dynamic is so great. Sandra Oh (Cristina) and T.R. Knight (George) are definitely my favorites.

Last night’s show? Let’s see if I can recall. The redheaded doc’s former lover shows up; he wants her back. Meanwhile her husband isn’t sure whether he wants his wife or Meredith, and the wife appears to at least consider the former lover’s offer. Meredith’s mother reminisces happily about her past affair. Actually, she thinks it is still ongoing. The blonde intern expresses her eagerness for sex throughout the program, and ends up getting it on with the other intern. A woman patient suffers from multiple orgasms. The show ends with Meredith preparing for sex with George.

Was there a patient in there? Oh yes. He died, but at least he *looked better * dead.

I’m sorry. I thought it was a medical drama. Turns it it’s just a sex drama.

And if they were going to name it after the book, why isn’t it Gray’s Anatomy?

This is EXACTLY why I think some here are hypocritical when it comes to labeling trash. It seems that premarital/promiscuous sex is tolerable and “FANTASTIC” …yet a movie like “Brokeback Mountain” needs to be banned. Tell me, why the double standard?? Apparently so long as sex is between members of the opposite sex, it is ok.

Well, I can’t be pointing a finger at anybody else, since I was obviously watching it myself. Still, it seems to me that it’s gone steadily downhill. Can the writers focus on anything other than the character’s sex lives? Admitedly, it’s easier to write that way; but it might as well be a daytime soap.

I would watch Grey’s Anatomy before Brokeback Mountain because the $12 that I would spend on “Brokeback” could easily go into my church’s collection plate, and not go to support Hollywoods gay agenda. And when watching Grey’s Anatomy you aren’t putting your money toward supporting something not so wholesome.

I’m not saying that the morals (or lack of therefore) in Greys is any better than brokeback. But simply put, I don’t want to watch 2 men have sex. and at least in Grey’s when that part comes up you can turn the channel, and wait till it gets back to the medical drama. I’ve just watched 2 episodes of Greys that had nothing to do with premarital sex, but with brokeback the whole focus of the movie is 2 gay cowboys who fall in love.

:rotfl: :rotfl: You pay your cable/satellite bill don’t you? Then you are supporting “something not so wholesome” And , :rotfl: how many people do you know who flip through the so called “good parts”??? You are just trying to justify a double standard.

I’m not justifying a double standard… and paying my cable bill isn’t supporting the “not so wholesome tv shows”… Now if I had a neilson ratings box then maybe I would be supporting them.

Paying my cable bill, pays for my internet for school, and pays for plenty of tv shows that have good morals. You saying that by me paying my cable bill is supporting these immorral shows is like saying that by paying to go see “Passion of the Christ” in theatres or on dvd is supporting the rest of the garbage in the cinema. Or not shopping at a convienience or grocery store because they might sell… say condoms or these “immoral movies”. If you continue thinking the way you are, there’s always going to be something immorral attached.

So Kathy next time you want to bring a loved one to see a nice family movie, or let your kids watch cartoons, remember how your money is supporting these “evil people”. For that matter, be careful when you go buy light bulbs and make sure you don’t buy the “ge” brand because thats a sister company to NBC which is funding shows like Will & Grace, and Book of Danial. THROW OUT YOUR LIGHTBULBS AND PROTEST!

Personally, I was really disappointed with Sunday’s show.

It seems like it has been getting worse and worse, in terms of content. Maybe it is just me.

And George? He always seemed like the innocent lamb of the show. The ending was disappointing.

I think I may take a break from TV in general. Might be a good thing for Lent. 😉 All I know is that the last 2 weeks I have gone to bed way too late, and only because I have been watching television shows.
