You’re probably aware that Fr. Barron had a weekly show which aired in the Chicago area via WGN-TV and broadcast nationally on WGN America. Sadly, the funding for that show ran out after 6 months. However, the videos of parts of the shows are still available for viewing online:

Father Robert Barron is great! He is the kind of evangelization the Church needs: intellegent, eloquent, cosmopolitan, and clear. 🙂

He doesn’t come at you like a runaway train like some . . . . ahem. . . . recently controversial Catholic apologists.

His radio show ran between about 1930 until 1951 when he began his popular TV series “Life Is Worth Living” which ran until 1957, and “The Fulton Sheen Program,” from 1961 to 1968. i have seen some of Bishop Fulton Sheen’s shows on EWTN. yes, i was born in 1952,
but i don’t remember any of his shows. i remember the original Mickey Mouse Club and I
Love Lucy. i was baptized in the Episcopal Church because my father was Catholic and my mother was Lutheran (both non-practicing), but i finally found my way to the Catholic Church, thankfully. i would love to have been able to listen to Bishop Sheen on the radio or see his tv programs if i would have been Catholic back then. i am sure he had quite a following. and i am sure he was a benefit to the Catholics of his day in understaning more deeply their Catholic faith.

wow, thanks for that great preview! i can’t wait either. it says September 2011, so i would expect that we would be seeing announcements about it soon.
this is a great way to evangelize and show those who are curious about the Catholic faith and want to know more about it as well as a good program for Catholics.
it looks like Father Barron has travelled around the world to show how the Catholic faith is touching lives across the globe.
i think they plan on using this in RCIA classes also.

He gave the most brilliant talk I ever heard on Marxist nonsense.

Explaining the concept of truth and the difference between how Communism and Western thought arrive at it, he posed the question, “Where are your sox?” Western thought turns to REALITY – you look for them in your dresser. Communism answers by stating, “Wherever the Party says they are!”
 
The trailer was great!

I linked to it on my facebook for the, maybe vain, hope that a friend or two would watch it and be intrigued.

Nevertheless I will definitely tune in. 👍

Fr. Barron is such a great representative for the faith.

sounds like really scary nonsense to me! i don’t think i want any part of marxism. :eek:
 
Any chance of it being aired in Europe - I would love to see it! The price for the DVD’s are way beyond anything I can afford! 😦

Too expensive for me too! I believe they were meant to be purchased by the parishes, with the approval of the pastors, and then to be shown to the parishioners, and/or RCIA candidates.

I also was born in 1952. Somehow, I can remember Bishop Sheen on TV and I recall him being transferred to Syracuse or Rochester in upstate NY. My father, who was not born Catholic, liked his show, particularly the insight on the difference between someone who is an alcoholic and someone who is merely a drunk.

I have a strong suspicion here that any TV show about Catholicism which is not universally positive will be panned on this forum.

I have watched this priest and he should do a fine job. His talks show a breadth of thought sometimes lacking in CAF discourse. He periodically brings up Gandhi and the Dalai Lama. He has spoken about the falacy of biblical literalism. He really loves the works of Aquinas but jokes about some of the more “colorful” things this Doctor of the Church wrote. And yet with his depth of thought and cosmopolitan presentation he is solidly orthodox. 👍

He is as different from Corapi as night and day.

I really have high hopes for this program.
