Note, the box below says 7 Apr 20 but this did happen today, July 4th, the story even talks about the 4th of July and fireworks there.

Group of demonstrators enter Stone Mountain Park

Author: Michael King (11ALIVE)

The north and west gates of the park were closed after the group entered, park police said.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — A group of demonstrators marched into Stone Mountain Park on Saturday afternoon, according to park authorities.

The group was comprised of about 100 to 200 people, all dressed in black, according to John Bankhead with the Stone Mountain Park Police.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Bankhead said the group was allowed to come into the park and entered from the West Gate. They then headed toward the lawn area of the park, where the large Confederate carving of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson on the north face of the mountain can be viewed.
See link, these people were carrying arms but apparently, the situation ended with no incidences would be my understanding. Very little news coverage of this actually.

Georgia has an open carry, no permit required, for long guns.

No problem here.

It still appeared like a situation with the potential to get out of hand.

But it was legal, as it was begun and as it ended. Good.

I’m fond of legal/constitutional. Esp with respect to the 2nd amendment.

There have been some legal barriers put up to keep the state of GA from considering removing the carving on the mountain. I don’t see much traction being made with their goal this year.

Pennsylvania must have something similar because I was at the Gettysburg military national park there yesterday and I saw not a few paramilitary types carrying large guns. Not sure if it was a regular occurrence there but I found it odd.

And intimidation in speech…

Newsweek article…July 5
“I don’t see no white militia, the boogie [boogaloo] boys, the three percenters and all the rest of these scared-a** rednecks. We here, where the **** you at? We’re in your house,” one protester [said during speech.

I think it’s because southerners regard them as brave and honorable men, not ‘losers.’

I am not aware of anyone saying it was illegal. Perhaps, you could address your post to them.

This group who carried arms made it clear they were ready for a confrontation with the Klan. Law enforcement keep law and order. Good.

I’m fond of law and order. Esp with respect to the officers who put their lives on the line to protect us.

If there wasn’t trouble, it’s because they kept these groups from confronting each other. Good.

I’m fond of law and order under those circumstances, too. Have had law enforcement in my family. Perhaps no confrontation was in the minds of anyone. Just demonstration.

My point still stands. I like law and order and protection of my 2nd amendment rights. Absent any evidence to the contrary, of unlawful intent, those rights are per the governing agency’s constraints and are available to all who abide by those requirements.

They need to blow these figures off the mountainside.

An embarrassment.
In a compromise to get the Confederate Flag removed from the state flag of Georgia, the state also passed a law to protect Confederate monuments.
4) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, or other entity acting without authority to mutilate, deface, defile, abuse contemptuously, relocate, remove, conceal, or obscure any privately owned monument, plaque, marker, or memorial which is dedicated to, honors, or recounts the military service of any past or present military personnel of this state, the United States of America or the several states thereof, or the Confederate States of America or the several states thereof. Any person or entity who suffers injury or damages as a result of a violation of this paragraph may bring an action individually or in a representative capacity against the person or persons committing such violations to seek injunctive relief and to recover general and exemplary damages sustained as a result of such person’s or persons’ unlawful actions.

(c) Any other provision of law notwithstanding, the memorial to the heroes of the Confederate States of America graven upon the face of Stone Mountain shall never be altered, removed, concealed, or obscured in any fashion and shall be preserved and protected for all time as a tribute to the bravery and heroism of the citizens of this state who suffered and died in their cause.

Now, I saw on twitter where it was reported that some of these armed persons went up to a person’s car and demanded reparations. To me, that’d be pretty scary and I’d hardly say that is good. I’ll have to check for more news coverage.

See, they challenged white nationalists “reportedly”, numbering a 1,000.

From what I understand police were on the scene although I couldn’t tell from the video. The guy in the car said something like ‘what’d I do to you?’ and they said ‘it’s what your ancestors did’. He just waved them off with a laugh. The guy’s ancestors could very well have fought and died for the Union. lol

Thing is, if they vote for the left’s political ideology thinking they will get reparations they will lose that second amendment right that they enjoyed that day and sign on for more black lives to be aborted.

I think we may soon see the inevitable intersection between open carry and protesting, that is when two groups who despise each other are both protesting with firearms. I just hope it happens where there are no bystanders, including police, so that no innocents get caught in the crossfire.

Open carry was designed for defense, not for protesting, and not for a show of strength. Just like liquor can result in behavior one would not consider when sober, so can mob mentality. Then, just like guns are banned in bars, I think we will see the too-late legislation that limits them during protests.

They were punked by someone of social media saying there would be a flag burning on July fourth at the national park.

They all showed up to get in an armed confrontation with whomever was burning the flag.

That there might be some sort of legislation, to modify whatever carry laws are in effect, generally, is not out of bounds. I’d prefer it to be carefully crafted, with respect to the Constitution, by hands and minds not adverse to the 2nd. But “Fire” in a theater is a reasonable standard. I’m not blind to the potential possibilities. In this case, the law states what is permissible, and if permissible, is permitted to all, absence any other theoretical circumstances that might necessitate a suspension/modification of the laws. As in open rebellion, civil disturbance, unlawful assembly, imposition of martial law, riots, or gang warfare.

In this case, it appears that the system worked.
