Group threatens al Qaeda attacks on Rome
DUBAI (Reuters) - A group claiming links to al Qaeda threatened to attack Rome to punish Italy for supporting the United States, and praised the bomb blasts in London, a Web statement said on Friday.
The statement did not appear on Web sites normally used by Islamist militants loyal to al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

“We warn Rome, the capital of infidels, that the lions of Jihad in Europe are ready to launch strong strikes against the collaborating government with the crusaders, the Americans, the enemies of God, the Prophet and Muslims,” it said.
 
More from the religion of peace. If the Islamofacists attack Rome, what would be the appropriate response? Should we bomb Mecca and Medina ? This is just too sad for words. I

Doesn’t it seem as if - they are declaring war on the Catholic Church itself? - The “Capital of the infidels” quote bothers me.

Or am I reading to much into it?

That is exactly what I got from the article. It seems like these radicals are now declaring war against the Church!

I also read this as being a threat to the Catholic Church directly.

I have to admit - in a bizarre way - I was (am), upon reading this post, extremely prould to be Catholic. As somebody else just posted - it makes me want to join the Swiss Guard.

Let’s be honest. You do not want to piss off the Catholics. It’s been hundreds of years since our last crusade, but this time we have quite the upper hand.

These Muslim terrorists have always had war declared on Rome. All infidels are in Dar al-Harb (the House of War). Yawn This is news?

The terrorists don’t want to get us Catholics p****'d. Secular governments are doing the PC dance. P****'d Catholics might not be so PC’ish.
 
They DO NOT want to start p*****g us Catholics off. I will PERSONALLY pick up a gun and go on a crusade against ANYONE who tries to hurt the Church. We will not sit and wait like the secular governments. They do not want to get on the wrong side of Catholics.
