That is pretty unsettling. I’ve never heard of anyone experience what you described.

Consider posting this in another forum - Spirituality > Things that go bump in the night

I would recommend beginning with the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Dear Friend in Christ:
You’re exactly right. In “Story of a Soul,” St Thérèse, wrote, "A soul in a state of grace has nothing to fear of demons who are cowards.” I should have remembered that quote. I apologize.

The saint that saw a grotesque figure in her room was St Teresa of Avila I think. when she realised it was Satan she said “Oh, I thought it was someone that could hurt me” and went back to sleep. There are a few variations on the story but all saying the same thing.

The fly thing is somewhat common in demonic infestations. I think it has something to do with the devil being known as the Lord of the Flies.

All of the advice has been good. Additionally, I recommend that you bless your home and use the Prayer Against Malefice found here:https://stpeterslist.com/5-prayers-recommended-by-an-exorcist-to-combat-evil

Remember that by virtue of Baptism, you are a priest. You have the authority to command demons. Be confident.

Laughing at the demons?..that’s like agreeing with them!.. not a good idea. Being watchful and praying even while demons lurk for prey is ideal.

To Nap66:
Never have I experienced that before, but I will pray for you & your sister anyways. However, I live in my parents basement and twice have I heard someone knocking/banging on the small window with no one there (& getting a bit scared do I then pray mentally for Jesus to protect me) & then it goes away… that happened about a year ago or so, during two nights before going to bed. I’ve had odd/twisted dreams before of my faith being tested, such as my sister & I being in a store and then sent to hell to meet the devil disguised as a bad woman trying to persuade us into remaining in hell- in that dream, I defended God and my faith while my sister didn’t and remained there… that dream was scary & oddly it kinda felt real, despite it only being a dream… in fact, I had committed some bad sins before that dream occurred, so in a sense dreaming that was like a consequence reminder of what would happen if I did keep sinning & making bad choices. Another dream was when I was in a college class and a guy had a gun to my face and asked if I was Catholic & I said yes and he shot me- that really felt real & when I woke up, I had to think about it a bit to realize that it was just a dream…that was like a lifeline for me b/c it made me realize that it could happen presently. Aside from all of that, 3 years ago (Nov 2014), I had a dream with Mary- before bed I was contemplating which Vocation that God was calling me to: married life or single life while a thought abruptly came to mind of thinking about religious life (then I started crying- I didn’t want to be a NUN). I kissed my Miraculous Medal necklace and went to bed… I dreamed of actually being in a chapel [quite similar to one of St. Catherine Laboures’ apparitions] with a huge cement Miraculous Medal above me, I was kneeling and praying with my head down & eyes closed, when Mary covered my hands (warm/neutral touch) and said that, “everything’s going to be okay” (Mary, Nov 2014)…I woke up from that dream with lasting peace, joy, & fearlessness in knowing that no matter what happens in this life, with Jesus & Mary presently with each of us, I have no fear for what the future holds because “everything’s going to be okay” (Mary, Nov 2014) when we devote our lives to Jesus & Mary. That night encouraged me to pray the Rosary more often and become devoted to Mary through the Miraculous Medal necklace and praying the Rosary now daily- it definitely promotes peace and grace no matter the storm. If you don’t have a Miraculous Medal to then put around your neck as a necklace, I highly recommend it- with Mary’s mantle of protection, nothing will overpower Her. The biggest thing that the devil hates is Mary, so when you’re hearing those demons/devil, pray out loud to Mary (Hail Mary prayer) for help~ ask for Their intercession or a Saint’s intercession who already experienced demons/devil in their earthly lives (such as St. Padre Pio, etc). Hope that helps. Praying for both you & your sister. Kudos to both of you for devoting yourselves to the Rosary anyways, despite what those demons/devil tries to do- it just means that you’re doing something right if they can’t stand what you’re doing.

i think that saying the rosary is the best defense against demons

satan and his demon angels are terrified of the blessed virgin mary

satan tempted jesus

he never went anywhere near Mary

Well we have blessed the house, hung crucifixes and sprinkled holy water throughout the rooms. All is quiet on the western front so far except for those damn flies! (time for a bug bomb). We still say the Rosary every day and no matter what the peace it brings will always overshadow any demonic interference.

Now that I know that others have had similar experiences I don’t feel so crazy. Spiritual warfare is real and happens to everyone, every day.
