Guardian Angels?

I realize that is probably more of just a matter of semantics, but it’s more casual

I will say this and it’s been a real fruitful experience for me… I pray the chaplet to St Michael and the Holy Angels consistantly. (meaning not necessarily daily but very often)

I have found that the formal interessions that are part of the prayer (asking for the true charity, hearty obedience, humility, etc etc) have grown in me.

And trust me, knowing me, this isnt something I have developed on my own. But I have no doubt that they are the results of the angels interession on my behalf for these graces.

Wow, after looking this up it looks like something I may be interested in doing, but there is a LOT of info to memorize. Do you have to whole chaplet memorized? Is it ok to just read it? I’m doubtful I would be able to ever memorize this, I am learning the Apostle’s Creed and it’s taking me forever to memorize (and that is way shorter in comparison!)

Hi Erin!

I have it taped off of EWTN’s daily showing at 7:00AM eastern time. (Mother Angelica leads it, and it’s quite beautifully done with stained glass windows and the like)

I also know you can get a copy of it thru the EWTN religious Catalogue.

I just follow along. 🙂

What a beautiful and inspiring thread. I would like to add another prayer.

A Prayer To The Guardian Angel
Angel of Christ, holy guardian and protector of my soul and body,forgive me every transgression which I have committed this day, and deliver me from every craft of my enemy and adversary. May I not anger my God by any sin. Pray for me, His sinful and unworthy servant, that you may declare me worthy of the grace and mercy of the all-holy Trinity and of the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ and of all the saints.
Amen

It would be okay to read it. You are not required to memorize the chaplet, though if you do it long enough and frequent enough you will soon find out that you are memorizing it with no effort.

I still do not have the Nicene Creed memorized, so do not worry.

One aspect of guardian angels is protecting the person, that they are assigned to;

Here is one of my personal testimonies:

**Protection in a dangerous situation **
I was walking my children home from school. We stopped at the corner of the street in order to cross the road. There was a car stopped there waiting for the traffic to clear in order to make a turn. I deliberately made eye contact with the driver to make sure that she could see me. The lady appeared to be looking at us and acknowledging our presence. We then confidently proceeded to cross the road. Unfortunately despite this she had not seen us. The vehicle started to move and accelerated towards us as we began to cross the road. The car was almost upon us when at the last second she managed to slam on her brakes missing us by a tiny amount. The lady got out and started to shake and cry uncontrollably, because she realised that if we had been killed, that it would have been her fault for not paying enough attention to the situation. My obviously pregnant state would have added to her distress. I thought very little of the incident at that time, and casually remarked to her “It’s okay, I pray to the guardian angels for protection, everyday." A lady who witnessed this incident told me the next day that, she was absolutely convinced that the children and I were going to be killed.
