I want to tell everyone where it is. But I won’t. But trust me, they can afford the things they want.
My objection to the picture, isn’t a question concerning cost. I’ve seen masses on the battle field where the altar was the hood of a jeep.

That picture as you say, is the main church, not a temporary site. Is it supposed to be A Catholic Church?

So why is the location a secret?

The clerics there are very humble and efficient. it is by a college campus. so what if its modern. it serves its purpose. if you dont like it just look at the cathedral. dont get me wrong I love it but it looks like a prison out of a scifi movie(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) This was the original pic. I cropped the crucifix because that would give it away. Sorry for being sneaky

I understand how doing so might render this whole thing self-fulfilling, but the crucifix isn’t even in the center.

I was baptized there, btw.

catholic or protestant?

Catholic. The star on the front of the church reminds me of one of Mary’s titles: “Star of the Sea” … and is that a Communion rail? I suppose that could mean it is Episcopalian. Also there is that bell outside which is like the Spanish Missions.

partially correct. it is episcopalian. I think it is rather old. I’m pretty sure it is considered a historical site. It is st Nicholas Episcopal. they also have shrines to the blessed virgin that are quite antiquated and lovely.

I suppose so. I didnt mean to offend anyone. I thought this was an interesting thread. I love church architecture. even non christian places of worship are very beautiful as well. I just like the photos.

I would have guessed Protestant. I thought I read once that a crucifix is required over any Catholic altar.

This is our diocesan Cathedral. It elicits strong emotions for sure. Many just call it “the barn.” (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

To clear a few things up –

This is the main church, not a temporary site. This main church building has been in place for decades and there is no construction anywhere in the vicinity.

This particular…
OK well it was kind of an interesting guessing game until you posted this long post.
If it’s your parish, talk to the pastor.
If it’s in your diocese, or even if it isn’t, write to the bishop.
The people who worship there, and their pastor, and their bishop, are the ones to be concerned with how their church looks. Some people like super-plain churches for a variety of reasons. If it’s not your own church, then your opinion about it isn’t very relevant.

Some people like super-plain churches
And for those whose parish this is? It’s not changing any time soon and if they want an experience other than sitting in a sterilized room?

EDIT: sorry I forgot my opinion isn’t “really relevant”…

So, do you attend this church and/or know people who go there? If it’s the latter, have a number of these people expressed to you their unhappiness with the “experience” their church provides?

I’m asking because as 1ke said, it’s not constructive to have a thread for posting pictures of some church you have little or no connection to, but don’t like, for the purpose of trying to get others to agree with you how awful it is.
