Sort of like political opinions. Dangerous things, when unregulated.they must be heavily regulated and closely tracked by the government.

That’s why I suggested the OP go to the nearest range, take classes, practice. Sooner or later his wife will join him. I’ve seen it happen that way many times.Sneaking a gun without your wife consent and by breaking the law, would be sinful indeed to do
I rather doubt it. The owner would run into trouble if she tried to ban people with “wrong” skin pigmentation. The owner can ban whatever they wish.
Although that would not be wise.
It would be a bad idea to advertise to criminals that everyone in your restaurant is unarmed.
You advocate free access to (low level) WMD’s - machine guns, etc.No one here is advocating gun violence.
It allows them all to defend themselves.what is so wonderful to allow every Dick, Tom and Harry to have almost unlimited access to weapons
It also allows them to slaughter others. And if no one would have access to such weapons, there would be no need to defend themselves. Your line of argument “forgets” that there are people who want to commit violent acts. And the problem is that none of you wishes to present a viable method to allow only the “good” guys to have weapons. It allows them all to defend themselves.
Without guns there would no gun related violence. Just like without cars there would be no traffic accidents. The difference is that giving up transportation would be far more “expensive” - in every meaning of the word, while giving up guns would have no negative impact on society.Do the guns themselves perpetuate gun violence, or is it the fault of those who own them?
People have been slaughtering each other since Cain slew AbelIt also allows them to slaughter others.
This is premature, until we can agree that the best solution is getting rid of guns. Once we can have an agreement upon WHAT we wish to achieve, then we cab start investigate on the HOW to achieve that goal. I have a few ideas, which we could discuss.I’ll see that and raise you this: how in the world could you stop gun ownership completely?
You have a good start by getting rid of those weapons which make slaughtering easy. It may be a first step, but without a first step there can be no progress. You cannot stop it by banning weapons.
I live in Saskatchewan where pretty much every farmer owns a gun of some sort. Raising livestock makes it a necessity against predators. But I live in the city and have never felt the need of it. I know only two people who own a gun; my father in law, an aforementioned farmer, and one brother who hunts once every three years. If some nut goes berserk near me and a bullet has my name on it, I will welcome the end of one life and the beginning of another. Apart from that I never think of it.She doesn’t want guns in the house or me having one
A good start to what end?You have a good start by getting rid of those weapons which make slaughtering easy.
I found the position so laughable it was not worth the response. So far you did not bring up any argument against my understanding of your position, namely that having mass murders (using automatic weapons) is merely a small price to pay to have access to those weapons
And where did I say that? You advocate free access to (low level) WMD’s - machine guns, etc.
That is assuming she is also a gun enthusiast. Either way, more guns does not mean being more safe, but rather more likely for things to go wrong. It only takes for one tragic event to regret all your life of having a gun. That’s why I suggested the OP go to the nearest range, take classes, practice. Sooner or later his wife will join him.
