I bring my handgun into the church. Never occured to me not to do so.
Makes sense to me, too especially if you’re a woman at church after dark & have to walk out to your vehicle. But in our state it’s against the law per the concealed weapon permit info. they gave me in the mail.I bring my handgun into the church. Never occured to me not to do so.
I hear you & agree. Just might want to check the carry law details in your state. Our’s allows concealed weapons most places but not in places of worship. Not a woman, but I carry a firearm everywhere except in my work place (where they do not allow it). It never occurred to me that anyone would consider this unacceptable. In fact, I always thought I carried a firearm not just for personal protection… but to protect those who do not carry one.
I would not be against maybe an usher having a concealed weapon but I believe it would be way to distracting for someone having a gun on their hip in mass. Why is it “weird” or “inappropriate” to bring a weapon to Mass? Peter brought a weapon with him to the very first Mass and being God, Jesus knew about it and didn’t rebuke him for it and we know from scripture that Jesus wasn’t shy about rebuking Peter when he did or said anything that was wrong or inappropriate.
It is precisely because of the crazy things that happen with weapons that I would find it distracting to know you were carrying a weapon in church. I don’t know you and have no way of knowing if you’re a whacko about to open fire or if you’re a person who can be trusted to use a gun responsibly. I have no idea if you’re a good marksman or if you’d miss your target by a mile. As to your firing a gun in a closed space filled with people to protect those who are unarmed… even if you hit the target right in the 10 ring, that bullet can pass right through and hit an innocent bystander. Not a woman, but I carry a firearm everywhere except in my work place (where they do not allow it).
