When I was a kid I had access to guns. When I was a bigger kid/young adult I joined the military. Qualified expert with more than one weapon. I own guns today. I own knives. Very useful tools. I’ve been angry with corrupt, unscrupulous, lying, conniving, dastardly politicians, business people and even church people and have never entertained or considered using one of my several weapons in response to their behavior. God will take care of them His way. When I was a kid I wish I could say being “bullied” was the worse thing I experienced. And again, God will be my vindication. There was no gun violence in schools as we see now when I was in school (70’s) and that was with less gun laws. Guns aren’t the problem. People are. The kid in Florida should have never had a gun and all the laws legislators come up with won’t end the violence. All the warning signs were missed and yet the enemies of our freedoms think they can fix it with more controls. I could turn a chair into a weapon as well as my vehicle. The problem is the heart and a system that for decades has told people it’s a right to kill their unborn, We are not created; we evolved, It’s ok; God understands when it comes to calling sin SIN.

Also TV and the media promote violence. We are overwhelmed with what we are fed on a daily basis. I think the ‘games’ kids play are also serious contenders to corrupt the minds of the players.
At the same time I take into account several factors occurring to the young man with the assault rifel. He lost both parents within a short span. He was already on the radar from his school and his mother tried to get him help for his problems. His younger brother went to live with an uncle, but he, at 18 and of legal age, didn’t not have to.
As a young male his hormones must have been a big problem. Some males can handle the raging hormones; some can not. Put altogether with mental issues, lite the match and the bomb goes of.
The other thing I will ad is that assault weapons were developed to kill as fast as you can, as many as you can. I would rather see them removes from the market. However, the fact that Americans have a right to bear arms deters ‘enimes’ from thinking they can just walk in the door. So how do you stop hate crimes and mass shootings? Feed everyone Mary Jane oil and onion rings? I just don’t know. Is there an answer??? Peace.

Mary I am constantly ridiculed by friends and family because I voice the same sentiment. Sin is like Brylcreme , a little dab will kill you. One of the things that I love about your faith is the sincere and serious call to a holy life. It really does spur one on. If O’kempis were here today I bet he wouldn’t change a word of Imitation of Christ!

I own literally dozens of guns. A large amount of which are semi auto derivatives of military battle rifles and assault rifles. I’m sitting on thousands of rounds of ammunition and hundreds of magazines.

Never once have I felt the desire to hurt someone with any of it unless it was necessary for defense of person or property. Guns are tools, they are neutral, nothing more or less.

I would love to have my old M16! It was a great weapon. Fun to shoot, very accurate, and great sound.

Cop buddy of mine was issued a 10.5” barreled full auto m16 at his old department. Most fun day of my life was spent dumping mags into pumpkins and watermelons with that thing lol

Gee I would pay to go to the gun range with you 😃 I’ve only shot a .22 and 9mm. :cowboy_hat_face:

I think different people can have different preferences.
I’m just SO glad I don’t live in the US. But that’s just my preference. I of course understand other people have their own preferences. But it’s kind of interesting watching Americans debating about this as an outsider.

Well, this FBI we have is really taking a but wooping from President Trump. He is making them look like clowns.

The problem is the mainstream media is making it out like this is a democrat/rebublican thing.

I own about 40 firearms. Not a single one of them has killed anybody. I do prefer bolt guns to semi-auto rifles though. Savage (shudder) .17HMR + Hornady 17gr V-Max = piles of dead ground squirrels:slight_smile:

I keep an IWI Tavor 5.56 with 30 rounds of Black Hill’s 77gr STMK in it in the bedroom

This hullabaloo is probably going to drive gun prices up again. Perhaps I should pull the trigger on that Glock G40 I’ve been looking at.

My favorite gun to shoot is a suppressed bolt action 22lr. So much fun

I was thinking of getting a Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0… 45 caliber :cowboy_hat_face:

Looks fun. But, out here, ground vermin get wise to your shooting. Hence the .17HMR.

Want to get a couple of center-fire varmint guns, but just can’t justify cost for the use I’d get.

Just wheeled in some artillery

In guns we trust? Maybe you do, I don’t but sure have fun shooting targets.

God made the big man and God made the little man, Samuel Colt made them equals 😉
