Hail Mary Prayer

So, I was thinking about the prayer and how it resounds Mary’s faith.

Regarding the 1st 1/2 of the prayer:

The angel declares to her, she accepts, then days later she has her verbal encounter with Elizabeth. Elizabeth declares the son to be named Jesus.

Only Mary could have known that the son would be named Jesus b/c the angel declared it to her and not to Elizabeth. We know this b/c the gospel says that Mary kept these things (Angelic Encounter) in her or within her.

So, Mary is contemplating this after the greet from Elizabeth.

Surely, her Faith was increased through these experiences.

Unless I missed it somewhere, Elizabeth never says the the name of the child in Mary’s womb will be named Jesus. She did, however, know that Mary was carrying God incarnate. From Luke’s gospel:
1:41 And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.
1:42 And she cried out with a loud voice and said: Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
1:43 And whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
1:44 For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
1:45 And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.

Perhaps I’m also being knitpicky, but if Mary was full of grace as declared by the angel, and was born without sin, she should therefore have perfect faith. No one in the history of humanity had more complete faith than Our Lady. While I would disagree that it increased her faith, I would say it gave her another reason to praise God and give thanks to Him.

Well, still, Mary only knew of the child in her Womb. So, that’s my main point. Elizabeth knew b/c of the Spirit or at least Elizabeth prophesized b/c of the Spirit.

My point is that Elizabeth’s greet was revelation to Mary.
 
Revelation usually, if not always, has an effect on one’s faith.
 
I’ll agree that the Holy Spirit was the one to reveal to Elizabeth the importance of the child in Mary’s womb, and while it would normally impact someone’s faith, Mary’s faith was not normal. It could not be increased anymore than it already was.

Yet, at the same time, she was human, like us, but not divine. So, maybe she pondered it inside her and gave praise.

The Archangel Gabriel told both Zechariah and Mary what the name of their child was to be. No one in Zechariah’s family, even extended, was named John. There is huge significance in that, since Angels relate precisely, and only that which God desires to be revealed.

Mary pondered all these things in her heart. Who but a sinless person could ponder silently and not blurt it all out! Rather, upon meeting Elizabeth, she praises God.

If you are referring to the Hail Mary, you are correct. But not if you mean in the Gospel. Read Luke, chap. 1. Gabriel tells Mary ‘You will name Him Jesus’.
 
OK. So, I just read the last verse of the narrative. Elizabeth declares,
“blessed are you who believed what was spoken to you by the Lord would be
fulfilled”.

I take that to mean she believed fully; not say 50.1% probability.

The names of Mary and Jesus were added to the salutation.
It starts with Mary in the beginning, and then at the end of that salutation, you get to Jesus. It’s quite beautiful.
 
If you want to get picky, then you have to do the Hail Mary in Hebrew or Aramaic … because English would not be invented for another thousand years.

And is “HIS” name Jesus … or is it Josua bin Josef?

I used to know Jesus’s Hebrew name. I never knew Mary’s.

There are two things in first part of the Hail Mary that are not quotes from Luke’s account but have been added to clarify the quoted words. The angel Gabriel, in addressing Mary, used the phrase “Full of Grace” in place of a name, so “Mary” is added after the “Hail” to identify who Gabriel is addressing as “Full of Grace,” and “Jesus” is added after Elizabeth’s statement “and blessed is the fruit of your womb” to identify who Mary is carrying in her womb.
 
I mean the biblical verses that make up the first part of the Hail Mary. Of course, the names of Jesus and Mary are in scripture. Sorry for any misunderstandings.
