So what kind of drugs were the supposedly Hebrews using?

History is wrong?
They could’ve been using natural hallucinogenics.

So my question still stands: So is it impossible that the over 500 people who saw Jesus coulve been on hallucinogenic and saw the same thing?

The question was asked of Mikekle but anyone with the correct answer is free to answer.

Possible or impossible?

We take it on faith and the eyewitness accounts in Scripture.
None of us here can PROVE it and no one can disprove it either.
Either one is a believer in Christ or they aren’t.

I doubt very seriously that a whole community was on mind altering drugs.

Faith, please listen to you spiritual director who has told you to stay off CAF and the internet.

Please take your spiritual issues to your pastor and your spiritual director. Please take intrusive thoughts and compulsive behavior to a therapist qualified to help you with OCD.

As I already said, it doesn’t matter what we say on this thread. There isn’t a rational answer, because OCD isn’t a rational problem. It is irrational, and it must be treated by a professional.

I want to read what Mikekle has to say. 😉

Could all these people been on hallucinogenic drugs? Is that even possible?

If so, they wouldn’t have all seen the same thing, would they?
Didn’t you read the long section on hallucinations. Peter Kreeft is saying that is not possible.

Absolutely not.

If 500 people claim to see the same thing, and describe the same things…its real or its a darn good trick.

Don’t know it I worded that right. So it’s impossible that they could all see the same thing?

Im only speaking from my experience with 2 hallucinogenic drugs ( LSD, mushrooms). Unless they were using something much more potent, I honestly do not believe that many people can hallucinate the same thing, but even then, everyones mind is different, the drug is going to effect them in different ways, they WILL see things, but not the same exact things.

Thinking back, even when myself and my group of friends were using quite a lot of LSD, the hallucinations were not really that intense, its not like you would see pink elephants suddenly appearing out of nowhere, it was more like different effects on things that were already there, example, one night when I took 10 units of acid, I saw a cat jump from a couch at my GFs house, the only hallucination I saw was little sparkles around the cat that followed it around, LSD was more a mental experience than seeing things that were not there, although one time, when my friends dad was grilling us about being out late, when he was talking to us, I kept seeing little comic book type text ‘bubbles’ containing the words he was speaking…that was probably the most intense hallucination I ever experienced.

What did mushrooms do ?0

So to be clear, 500 people wouldn’t see the same exact thing …at the same exact time under hallucinogenic drugs?

Faith: Stop It.

Go to your spiritual director and talk through your compulsive thoughts. These are not rational. Get into therapy for OCD.

I’m seeing a psychiatrist. I probably plan to see a therapist, too.
My SD is never any help. She’s the second one I saw and neither one was helpful with this.

I saw a psychologist for years, an before you say otherwise, she was (shes retired now) an expert in OCD and highly recommended.

I asked my psychiatrist if 500 people on hallucinogenic drugs would see the same thing. He said no, but that “a group of people could be brainwashed that they all have seen the same thing, as in members of a cult.”.

Now, how do we know they werent brainwashed into thinking they saw the same thing?..

Just asked my psychiatrist if he’s suggesting Christianity is a cult and he said “No. Not at all. That is why I don’t think it’s possible [all seeing the same hallucination], because it would need to be a cult in order for that to happen.”…

So again, how do we know that WEREN’T brainwashed into thinking they saw the same thing?

You’re going to have to make a decision if you are really going to be a practicing and believing Catholic.
Your OCD is getting in the way of your spiritual health.
If you really believe
1) that billions of Christians have it wrong
2) that the Scripture writers made the whole thing up
3) that there were NO historical eyewitnesses
4) that no miracles are possible
5) that God did not send His only Son to redeem you and I
6) that there is no God, and if there is, He has no power.
7) Jesus lied, and He did not come to save us, nor did he rise in Glory.

Then I will pray hard for you.

This is far more serious than I think you realize.
Your soul is at risk.
If you believe in nothing else, believe in the prince of lies, because he is having a field day with you due to your illness.
See a priest. Throw yourself into prayer.
Good luck.
