A sermon last Friday by a prominent Muslim cleric and Hamas member of the Palestinian parliament openly declared that “the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital,” would soon be conquered by Islam.

The fiery sermon, delivered by Yunis al-Astal and aired on Hamas’ Al-Aqsa TV, predicted that Rome would become “an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe.”

I wonder if the non-extremist muslims will address this at all. Hopefully this is just their standard rhetoric.
 
Hopefully our bretheren in Europe will re-awaken as they have historically done when pushed.
 
I think this is one of the major factors that will cause a rebirth of Christianity in Europe. As Islam becomes more agressive, Europeans will return to the Faith to counter the encroachment. I imagine we’ll have a religious war or two before it’s over. It seems similar to the era immediately before the Crusades when the Western Church was in much disarray, but the threat of Islam galvanized the Christian West to take action.

The Lord sure does work in mysterious ways.

Do Fox have stringers hanging out at Mosques all over the world waiting for some crank to say something to frighten Americans?

It obviously works but it must cost a bit.
 
FOX news is bought and paid for by the establishment to push propaganda to frighten people. People can be controlled by fear. I’m not saying that this Hamas dude didn’t actually say this, but they seem to push these types of stories more so than others.

Frankly I’m tired of it. The longer people are afraid of Islam and terrorism the more they will rely on the government for protection and the more willingly they will give up their freedoms and liberties to stay “protected” from this outside “threat”. The patriot act never would have passed in a million years if it wasn’t for the fear of the people of terrorism, real or imaginary.

I’d like to see Islamic radicals try to take over the Vatican. All of Europe and America will rally against them if they do…I think it is just another fear tactic.

It actually get’s worse:

Yunis al-Astal, a Hamas MP and cleric, told worshipers that Islam would soon conquer Rome, “the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital, which has declared its hostility to Islam, and which has planted the brothers of apes and pigs in Palestine in order to prevent the reawakening of Islam,” just as Constantinople was.

Rome, he said, would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe."

In his address aired on Hamas’s Al-Aksa TV and also translated by MEMRI, Astal told his audience: “Allah has chosen you for himself and for his religion, so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security, and consolidation of power, and even to conquests through da’wa [preaching] and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world.”

“I believe that our children or our grandchildren will inherit our jihad and our sacrifices, and Allah willing, the commanders of the conquest will come from among them. Today,** we instill these good tidings in their souls**, and by means of the mosques and the Koran books, and the history of our prophet, his companions, and the great leaders, we prepare them for the mission of saving humanity from the hellfire on the brink of which they stand.”

No desperation required. These “cranks” seem to be in abundant supply. In your opinion, what qualifies as newsworthy?

There’s an awful lot of ‘valid’ news in the world but the world of Muslim cranks is much more fun, I expect, and there’s probably an endless appetite amongst the American Right for cranky Muslims - bit like scary bedtime stories.

I didn’t say it wasn’t ‘newsworthy’, I just asked whether people like Fox chased around after Muslim cranks, eccentrics and clinically psychotic desperately looking for quotes to frighten Americans with a taste for such things.

Thank you, that was what I was trying to say and these people jump down my throat saying I only wanted news that fit my personal world view. People are blind if they don’t see the propaganda the news agencies are pushing to further the governments agenda in the middle east and here at home. They seem to take pleasure in telling Americans to be very afraid all the time. How often have seen the government say, Give up your liberties to protect yourself from these terrorists. I’m getting quite uncomfortable seeing the constitution and bill of rights being shredded and torn apart all on account of our supposed safety.
