I am torn on this.
On the one hand, we have a community/immanent Church event immediately prior to the culmination of the Mass, the Fractioning Rite, Agnus Dei and reception of the Eucharist. Seems to me that one should be focused on the Transcendant at this point.
On the other hand, we are commanded to love God and our neighbor. I then see the KOP as a symbol for forgiving our neighbor (and remaining open and loving to him) before we then go to receive Our Lord. It would seem to be sensible to be right with our neighbor (even if only symbolically) before we go to meet God.
Bottom line: My instinct wishes it would be eliminated or placed directly after the recitation of the Creed (or even BEFORE THE MASS STARTS), but I can see the logic of offering it as it is.
