I dont understand because the idea defies logic. If the old one was fine, why would they go to the troubleof creating a new one? Makes no sense.thecoach,
Let me first say that I know that your concern is one of caring and affection for your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and therefore please do not interpret anything I say next as an attack on you.
That said, I respectfully do not understand why you don’t understand this issue of the calendars. The pope has said that both the new *and *old calendars are equally valid and acceptable. Those here who follow the old calendar, by the Holy Father’s generous approval, do not deny the validity of the new calendar. They just prefer the old, and Pope Benedict has said that this is a completely OK and good option for Catholics. Both calendars are equally valid and acceptable.
Pax tecum.
My mother recently gifted me with a lovely new set of bed linen - which I’ve just today, by koinkydink, used on my bed for the first time. Does that mean that there’s anything wrong with the bedlinens I already have and that I now have to discard them?I dont understand because the idea defies logic. The 1962 calendar is akin to dirty laundry? My mother recently gifted me with a lovely new set of bed linen - which I’ve just today, by koinkydink, used on my bed for the first time. Does that mean that there’s anything wrong with the bedlinens I already have and that I now have to discard them?
Not a bit of it. There’s nothing illogical about a wish for extra options or choices - neither does it mean there is anything wrong with that to which an alternative is offered.
Put it this way, if the EF and its calendar weren’t fine the Church would’ve BOTH promulgated the Novus Ordo and new Calendar AND decreed that these must replace the previous ones.
This is what it did with the 1983 code of Canon Law - expressly stated that it replaced in its entirety the previous Code of 1917.
Since that isn’t what happened, neither with the TLM nor with the 1962 Calendar, the mind of the Church has always been to have them co-existing with the new, at least as a temporary measure. Either way, it’s up to His Holiness and him alone to tell us if and when the 1962 Calendar is to be done away with.
Coach, I know that yes or no questions are impossible for relativists but If I may ask.Nor would Jesus care if the Mass is in Latin or not. Take your own advice, it is the heart of the Law that counts.
Well, they were trying to improve it. But many people, including the pope, think that in the effort to improve things, people got a bit carried away and made some things worse while making some things better. The traditionalists are pressing to have the problems with the reform of the liturgy corrected.I dont understand because the idea defies logic. If the old one was fine, why would they go to the troubleof creating a new one? Makes no sense.
follow what you feel you need to. But it is plain duplicity.Coach, I know that yes or no questions are impossible for relativists but If I may ask.
Yes or no is the Holy Father legitimately the Pope?
Yes or No did the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI approve the use of the ER Calander?
Yes or No is he in error by proclaiming the ER Calander AND the OR Calander both correct and usable.
Yes or No are you in union with the Pope
SO instead of typing 4 either yes or no answers you decided to type a 12 word response which indicates you don’t have the courage to answer the questions.follow what you feel you need to. But it is plain duplicity.
Im glad you cant count, and who brought up Sola Scriptura? Interesting reaction.SO instead of typing 4 either yes or no answers you decided to type a 12 word response which indicates you don’t have the courage to answer the questions.
Oh by the way Sola Scriptura is an oxymoron.
youre wasting your time estesbob, they just dont get the logic.Since 1962 calendar omits any Saint canonized after 1962 is today celebrated as “Most Saints Day”?
Not to get too off subject here…I am wondering if you would be willing to answer my questionsIm glad you cant count, and who brought up Sola Scriptura? Interesting reaction.
Is the pope out of the loop with his logic? you do realize he says his private Mass in the traditional rite don’t you…youre wasting your time estesbob, they just dont get the logic.
Are you that guy at church who lectures the parents with lots of kids about how they need to start using birth control, because 'NFP ain’t workin!"?youre wasting your time estesbob, they just dont get the logic.
Well unless you recited the name of every saint at your All Saints Day Mass then you are ommiting them too. By saying All Saints (no matter what mass you use) it means All Saints.Since 1962 calendar omits any Saint canonized after 1962 is today celebrated as “Most Saints Day”?
Private is not public. And as far as out of the loop i logic, well. he is just a man, is he not? Again, and you seem to want to refuse to answer THIS, but why in the world would the hierarchy go through the trouble of establising a new calendar if the old one was fine to follow? Can you think for yourself and use logic just for a minute? Is the pope out of the loop with his logic? you do realize he says his private Mass in the traditional rite don’t you…
I am guessing you will refuse to answer those questions as well.
As a matter of fact I have been. I like how in your tone you want to assume I havent.Well unless you recited the name of every saint at your All Saints Day Mass then you are ommiting them too. By saying All Saints (no matter what mass you use) it means All Saints.
If a priest celebrated the Mass on All Saints Day with the 1570 Missal it would still be clebrating every SAINT, know or unknown!
estesbob and thecoach this is a strait forward issue.
The Pope says both calenders are okay.
The Pope says the Tridintine Mass for his private mass frequently.
Both the EF Mass and the OF Mass are valid, as are there calenders. According to the Holy Father the two are supposed to enrich each other (and many believes that implies they are eventually supposed to merge over time into a Mass more like the tridentine with some novos ordos pizaaz).
This is not a complicated issue.
The Pope says both calenders are GOOD!
estesbob and thecoach have either of you been to a Latin Mass?
You seem to judge it alot, I’m just wondering if you have been to one. For that matter have you been to any Catholic service that was not Novos Ordo? Have you been to an Anglican Use, an Eastern Rite or a tradition Mass of a Order such as the Dominicans? God gave us a diversity of Liturgies out of his love. So don’t through that gift away!
