Just want to touch base with all of my friends here on CAF. I know that I’m not around as much as I was and I miss all of you. But I think about you and pray for you.

October 3rd, we began the solemnity of St. Francis with the Transitus. It was a beautiful evening.

Here is a copy of my sermon at the Transitus.

Before anyone is scandalized, in the Franciscan tradition, the superior preaches the sermon for the Transitus by default. He need not be a priest. He also preaches the sermon for the solemn mass on October 4th. I don’t want anyone to be confused. 🙂 Fraternal religious orders have such privileges. I think that the Cistercians also have it.

Here is a blow by blow description of the Transitus and what followed. I hope that you find something helpful in these simple actions and words.

As soon as we have the pictures and the film ready, I’ll post a link so you can see. :yup:

May the Good Lord, his Most Blessed Mother and our Holy Father St. Francis walk with you today and always.

PS. Pray for the next generation.

Blessings on the children of Saint Francis, and his unique friends, the Carmelites who have worked so closely together as united by the death and birth into eternity of foundress Saint Teresa of Jesus on this the feast of Saint Francis. The TRANSITUS is the hour-by-hour recounting of the death watch. As so many servants of our Creator, there is that insistence that they be placed on the floor and die this most humble death on the ground. May Pope Francis, and his sheep, be that strongest salt and brightest light to the world through the intercession of Saint Francis. :harp:

Thank you for sharing your sermon brother.
May we respond to God’s call as did brother Francis; may future generations find that our efforts have nourished their faith; may the Holy Spirit, through our mother Church, guide us in this endeavor and may we seek and respond to that guidance with love and obedience.
Amen.

Lovely. Simply lovely. Thank you Brother Jay, and many many blessings for you, your brothers, and the children,
Pax et bonum!

So good to hear from you Br. JR. Thank you so much for the copy of the Transitus Sermon. You are always in my prayers. Praying for your continued health & recovery. Happy Feast Day to you also. God bless.:signofcross:

Happy feast of St. Francis, Brother, and thank you for sharing your sermon with us. It is quite hard hitting and to the point. Simple and full of truth. 🙂

That sounds like a wonderful Transitus service. I wish I could have been present. In my small Franciscan community we never acted it out, due to lack of enough brothers.

Did your community venerate a relic of St. Francis?

Happy Feast Day.

It was raining here so I’m not sure they were blessing animals this year.
