Hey Buddha in Hawaii,

I’m jealous on two accounts. One, I love the tropical November weather in sunny Hawaii; I’d be surfing on Thanksgiving day if I lived in Hawaii, and two… I think I prefer a Hawaiian Thanksgiving meal than the Turkey meals on the mainland. Give me Kahlua pork over a turkey any day of the week. I love my wife of 23 years, but she’s haole and doesn’t cook Hawaiian foods on Thanksgiving day. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to you from cloudy and beautiful Oregon! BTW… Oregon is called God’s country but is the least churched state in the country. 🙂

Vikings were pagans and reportedly made it to Newfoundland and MAYBE further south. The Portugese fishermen had a lot to say about their forays and that info was given to Columbus. The Pilgrims were aiming for the mouth of the Hudson River. Had to land where they did. Columbus landed at San Salvador and thought he was in India. I know you knew that.

Yes, Catholics were taught about the contributions of Protestants in this country including the religious base of such great universities as Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Princeton etc. We know you still have scholarship programs for American Indians at these institutions such as Dartmouth.

Little Catholic kids in the east learned about the Pilgrims/Calvinists inviting the Indians, who had shared their provisions with the settlers, to a feast. Everyone had a great time.

Happy Thankgiving Day to you too! Catholic Christians are Protestant Christians can thank our God together for all the provisions of our great God and savior! However, the greatest gift from God is God Himself. 🙂

If you are from Portland, we might have some common acquaintances. I used briefly to go to the OPC Church over on the eastside. Also Reformation Covenant Church…longer…knew more people…I think they must have dissolved. They were strongly post-mil, Reconstructionist. And my brother preaches at the Reformed Baptist Church (Glenhaven?) over in southwest. My former co-pastor also goes to this church. Do you know those churches?

Of course, I don’t mean to assume that you are from Portland, but 1 out of 6 Oregonians is. I am across the river.

Nice post! I’m not from Portland, but live at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, just east of Eugene and Springfield. I llive along the river simliar to your name. Are you familar with monergism.com? The inventor and adminstrator of that site is from Portland.

I believe we have peace with God as long as we follow His commandments.
You can’t sin as you wish and then say, Jesus died for me, so it doesn’t matter, I don’t actually believe that Jesus was crucified. I believe he was saved by God, and his likeness was put on someone else.
That man was crucified, not Jesus.

Every person will be questioned about his own actions, yet as God is the Most Merciful, the chance to have peace with Him is great. I trust God.

We must be thankful to all the messengers, peace be upon them, who invited us to God.

It is the biggest bounty from God upon us that we know about Him. God has assigned for each people a way to Him.

The way is the prophet whom God send.

I am always thankful for God who send us prophets to bring us noble life.

I am thankful for all prophet including Jesus, Moses by respecting them for God and hoping them all the best.

I am thankful that Jesus Christ is my savior for my sins, and being the only mediator between God and man. I am thankful that Jesus Christ was crucified on my behalf bringing me to God as my Heavenly Father. If you do not receive Jesus as your savior for your sins, who will pay the price for your sins against God?

Allah said what means:

“O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me, and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. On what basis would God forgive you for your sins? Is God not a God of divine justice too?

God is the Source of Justice, so He doesn’t send someone to die for others.

Every person is responsible for his own behavior.

Okay my Catholic siblings who appear to imply that God saves Muslims through Islam. Please explain how God would be just in saving Muslim sinners apart from the atonement of Jesus Christ? Without the need of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, then Jesus died in vain.

Justified by Faith

We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose (Christ died in vain in other translations). Gal 2
