He already takes a pretty hard spanking and doesn’t really care, and I tried that at bedtime.
Praying you are simply trying to get a rise out of people. This is a serious thing, if it is true please seek parenting classes and anger management classes.

If a 2 year old won’t stay in a baby crib, it is time for a toddler bed or a simple mattress on the floor. Easy.

I agree with the toddler bed idea. When both my children started climbing out of their cribs, I got them a “Big Boy” bed, with nice sheets with their favorite characters…They were excited for the big boy bed at least at first. And yes, childproof the room.
And I had to start cutting out naptime.
I also resigned myself to not a lot of sleep then, my youngest never wanted to seem to want to go to bed.
but you know what? My children are all grown now, and I so miss those days.
I had to rock my youngest to sleep at night, then carry him to bed(thankfully he didn’t wake up).
Fortunately we got him out of that habit.

Someone I know was the father of a toddler who in the middle of a massive tantrum would literally hold his breath until he passed out. The father’s solution? A spank, enough for the toddler to draw in breath to start crying.
The child will breathe without a pop - as CO2 levels rise (even if the child passes out), the body will force a breath. Holding your breath until they almost pass out is common in little kids (babies will even get mad and turn blue), and it’s benign. Sometimes they do pass out - and that is indeed where it becomes a behavior problem, but it’s not life or death. Scary as all get out, but it won’t kill you.

Unless you’re submerged in water. That’s how people drown - the body forces them to breathe, and then of course the lungs fill with water.

A 1-2 hour nap is WAY too long for a two year old. Wake him after 30 minutes. Give him lots of exercise and fresh air.

It really depends on the kid.

I don’t quite remember but my first NEEDED sleep, to the point where we went to the doctor. She had a 2-hour nap and still went to bed for 10-11 hours at night at 2. At 1 she had a 1hr am nap, a 2hr pm nap and went to bed for 12hrs a night only waking for a feed around 11 pm. She had a 2-hour nap and still went to bed for 10-11 hours at night at 2. As she got older it got more normal, but there were days I felt like a prisoner because she needed naps.

I’ve had the “I’m only 18mo but I don’t really need a nap” type, too. Which is great when you have stuff to do out of the house. Not so great when you want 20 seconds to yourself.

Every kid is different.

My grandson would do that and people in stores would want to call an ambulance. My daughter had to explain that she had already taken him to the doctor because of it. They would tell him to breathe and after a while he got so that he did not need reminders.

Not necessarily. My three year old still takes a one hour nap. It depends on the child.
