That would be interesting, to me.🙂

Maybe a possible study with Vitamin D deficiency and correlation to curly-light-bulbs usage?

We have evidence of it with regular florescent tubes.
It is quite interesting. Sorry to say I haven’t followed the developements in lightbulbs or light-bulb related legislation, etc. How are fluorescent bulbs supposed to cause vitamin D deficiency? (I ask out of genuine curiosity, not incredulity) The main sources of vit. D are sunlight and milk to which vitamin d is typically added (or in Europe, margarine, because they don’ty add it to milk over there), and then ofcourse, fish oil. Perhaps light bulbs affect people’s skin to inhibit sunblight absorbtion?

Today’s liberals wish that day had never existed.
They do? They’re trying to return us to British sovereignty?
We would already have the NHS and all those great and wonderful things the Brits love so much. And modern day liberals wouldn’t have to work so hard.
NHS? what’s that an abbreviation for? National healthcare system? Ifso, I don’t think that was what the American revolutionaries had in mind when they started their insurgency.

Harvard is absolutely right.

July 4th 1776, we adopted the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain.

Today’s liberals wish that day had never existed.
Bbarrick, that is a not a nice thing to say. You honestly believe that liberal people aren’t patriotic? I just celebrated Canada Day yesterday with liberals and conservatives and we’re all just as patriotic, despite our political differences

I just got back from an old-fashioned Fourth of July weekend political rally. Anybody else going one this weekend?

. Wish we could’ve had Kate Middleton at our Fourth of July rally today!

I’m surprised at you; thats an incredibly uncharitable remark and a huge slap in the face to the first responders familes who lost loved ones on 9-11.
If a liberal had made some remark about the lack of patriotism on the part of conservatives, there’d be a hundred posts decrying what was said, but when it comes to liberals, we’re fair game for anything. 😦 😦

No, I think they are patriotic. Just not as patriotic if we were a bit more British.

I think the amount of patriotism conservatives hold will dwindle with every step we rake to the left. I know mine has.

Rich buddy, I know your a patriot. I have to say what I have to say about liberals in general though.

Rich, I ever tell you that sometimes your posts make me think of the Bellamy Brothers song, “Old Hippie”?

I dunno why, but they do. 😃

Fascist!!! :p. I’ve never been to to a July 4 parade, because I tend to avoid parades in general. Mainly because they make traffic horrific and I am quite a bore.

On topic: this study shouldn’t serve as the basis for any generalizations (though it probably will anyway), but it is hardly surprising. The right side of the spectrum is, and generally has been for the last 150 years, relatively more nationalistic than the lef side. I can’t imagine parades make children Republicans though. In all likelihood children who attend 7/4 events go with their parents, who are likely to be more conservative than those who don’t attend these parades, like me, and it is well known that children tend to adopt the politics of their parents. Did these academics control for such “confounding variables?”
I think Democrats were quite nationalistic in the era of Roosevelt and Truman. In fact, most of the country was. This Harvard study sounds to me very biased. As if a July 4th parade is going to turn children Republican or influence them one way or another. Ridiculous!

If I remember correctly, A study done in Geriatrics Institutions especially northern hemispheres - UK - USA ] where florescent tubes were used, found enhanced Vitamin D deficiency or the inability of uptake of Vitamin D. The study was on the dementia correlation to Vitamin D. Probably Published in Journal of Geriatric Psychology and Neurology behind a pay-wall ]? Maybe a Dr Iain Lang Paper?

Hope it helps.🙂

Weird. Maybe they should sell fluorescent light bulbs with a year’s supply of codliver oil 🙂 (or polar bear liver: that’s how the eskimos got their vitamin D.)

I think these institutions are just trying to keep us divided. There are patriots on both sides and it is OUR NATION, not just one party’s nation, or one group’s nation, we are not “haves” and “have-nots” as we are allowing ourselves to believe. It’s absurd to think that Democrats can’t love their country as much as Republicans. Way to make EVERYONE angry, Harvard!

Well, I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend. Happy 4th of July. I put together a little video, some of my favorite pictures along with my favorite patriotic song. Hope you enjoy it.

Very nice, but where are you in the video?

I was very surprised by that town with the high hills in the background - where is it? I didn’t think there was any place in Oklahoma like that. Same with the railway train shot - the scenery didn’t match my notion of Oklahoma. I’d be glad to visit that town with the great scenery and ride that tourist train.

My wife is the one about to pet the horse and I am in there holding my daughter. I mostly just wanted it to be scenic and my kiddo’s.

You are right, we have the Arbuckle “Mountains”. But they are nothing like that. That town is Red River, NM. I highly recommend you visit there and take a ride on the Cumbres and Toltec railroad that travels through the mountains from New Mexico to Colorado. They have a few different trains, and one of them was even in an old movie once. It’s an all day event and they stop halfway and have a catered lunch which was delicious. You can see the old telegraph lines still up and they have a monument built to I think it was Grover Cleveland up there. It’s a great place to get away from 100 degree weather.

And, here I was hoping it would be in the Indian Territory, an easy drive from the Arkansas. 🙂
