You may be right, but he is the tip of the iceberg.
He has staff that also do the drawing/publishing.
He seems to have a good business selling his trash to other ‘abnormals’

He must make a killing off of those tracts, but I don’t think he’s converting any Catholics with them, one look at the insulting cartoons would prompt almost every Catholic to immediately throw them away.

I think he is feeding evangelical hate. I seriously doubt the Westboro Baptist Church has ever converted anyone at one of their rallys! It’s amazing how much noise a church of only 71 members can make.

You may be right, I haven’t seen any of his products for many years, the ones I have seen I’m pretty certain were done by him personally, his drawing style is/was quite bizarre and would be hard to imitate.

I remember once walking up Michigan Avenue in Chicago, past the old pumping station across the street from the historic water tower, and a dude was sitting on the low wall around the building, dishing out Chick tracts, and I told him, “You know, you’re actually driving people away from Christianity with these!”, and he replied, “I want to drive them away!”

That’s a true story.

He is an Anti-Catholic comic book writer. He makes a whole bunch of comics on how to get “saved” and we are on his unsaved list, and traces all the problems of the world to us. (Even the murder of JFK, what the?..)

Years ago he had a comic tract out called LAST RITES the book was filled with such anti catholic retoric . It was my inspiration to come back to the faith . Before I seen that tract I thought people in the south believed we were Mary Worshipers through misunderstanding and misinformation . I then realized that I needed to come back and help them understand the truth . Some of them have heard our explanation and still believe the same way its called brainwashing .Jack Chict never takes pictures and not many know what he looks like .He does not want to b confronted because he has an agenda and knows he is wrong.This man is leading many ignorant people away from God .

The Vatican finally “got” Alberto Rivera: “It” afflicted him with (stomach?) cancer. But, his body was buried in an unmarked grave, so the Jesuits wouldn`t be able to exhume it, and desecrate it.

Wonder whether Chickll consider selling the gutter thriller by Fr. Alberto Cutie? Itd be in good company alongside Charles Chiniquy`s blockbusters.

Oh wow… I live in San Diego but I use to go with some churches that promoted those dumb/crazy chick booklets in Tijuana, Mexico. we would pass them out in dowtown tijuana to the people walking around there. But thank goodness God got me out of that cult/sect and brought me into the 1 true Church founded by Jesus Christ=the Catholic Church. I read those comics about the priest Alberto Rivera=but I never bought into it or believed none of it…

But I think that Jack Chick is not only a bigot but he’s a liar and a coward and ignorant. And crazy too… I think chick tracts were big back in the 1970’s-1980’s-at least here in Southern California and Mexico. As well as Dave Hunt too-another anti-catholic bigot.

But why did all this happen in the 1970’s and early 1980’s here in The USA-and especially in California? I’m only 34 so I don’t really remember.

But good thing is that I never ever see no chick tracts anwhere anymore here in San Diego.

I think a lot of the Catholics in Mexico are comming back home to Mother Church… they had a lot of poor catachesis back then about 20-30 years ago…

She is now claiming that the Vatican has been hounding her since her husbands death, offering her 1 million dollars to reveal the location of his grave so that they can take his body. (Never mind that cemetery records are public record in Oklahoma.)

BTW, according to the survey for Rose Hill Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK “Dr.” Alberto Rivera is buried in section Moore (28) L-14 #3.

There we go, just saved the Vatican $1,000,000.

I have seen his work, years ago.

I found it highly offensive low-brow material. Odd that religious bookstores and gift shops sell it.

I’ve only heard of them in passing until a few years ago. Mostly I’ve seen rail cars in NY littered with sensationalist watchtowers or advertisements for scientology. I did read a chick tract- more than one edition- that had been put on laundromat washers. Incredulous to say the least, but I think it’s dancing in SPLC territory.

I gathered up each one and delivered to the trash where hate mongering gibberish belongs. Whatever denomination they’re calling themselves, nothing resembling God’s grace is going on there. When Baptists are holding their noses over chick tracts, I think that’s really making a statement unto itself. Maybe the only useful function of chick tracts is sorting the sane from insane.

Jack Chick is kind of like John McArthur in his attitude toward the Catholic Church. Apparently he got some real bad teaching in that area … as McArthur did because of his Baptist / Bob Jones ( i think) upbringing … and feels compelled to do his best to protect/ warn people… But … From my point of view God uses Jack Chick in spite of his wrong headed attitude toward Catholicism. Just as God uses John McArthur … who has written some excellent stuff when he is not talking about Catholicism.
If you click over to Jack Chick’s website you will notice that there are hundreds of booklets in cartoon format that have nothing at all to do with Catholic bashing … and that clearly present the truth about Jesus/ heaven/hell/ eternal questions … in a crisp, concise, captivating way. There are thousands if not millions of kids that have never even thought about Jesus except as a common expletive … I am certain that the Holy Spirit is capable of … and has effectively … used those tracts to cut to the heartfelt need of many a wanderer … and additionally … is well able to keep Jack Chick’s bad publications/ attitude out of the hands/minds of those that God is drawing to himself. IMHO.

Yeah, I’m familiar with Chick’s work. Some of it is pretty good, but an alarmingly high percentage of it is delusional, bigoted or otherwise offensive. And it isn’t just Catholicism he’s bigoted against, but rock ‘n’ roll, modern Bible versions, moderate alcohol use, roleplaying games, etc. I would use his stuff… but before I did, I’d screen each title individually and discard all the ones tainted by his weird obsessions. That might leave about 1/2 to 2/3 ok to use.
