I have heard of it and oddly enough this question and others you have raised lately are of intrest to me. I believe that there is something of the devil in the constant thoughts that wouldnt it be great if I saw a miracle or had some amazing mystical experience or another.
I think this is a 2 pronged attack. The first is challenging God to do a miracle as if we deserve it and the second is to make us think we are not worthy of a miracle leading us to think we are not worthy of both. Im certain there are even more traps than those inherent in searching for miracles.

I would caution all to remember " blessed are those who have not seen but yet believe " that not the direct quote but im sure you can look it up if you want the exact wording.

Remember if you do have a mystical experience you need to be very cautious as to the true nature.

I think we should look for Gods little miracles in our everyday life. His gentle hand and direction. The chance meeting, the appropriate reading, the inspiration when we respond to people with the comforting words and deeds etc.

I would suggest praying the rosary and collect the golden rosary when you arrive at the pearly gates lol

By the way please dont take my answer as an attack on your questioning its just a little prompt for you to think about why these questions are important to you.

love and respect
My rosary originally was black (plastic ?) beads with a silver chain. The crucifix was wooden with a silver metal backing (for support I suppose) with a silver Christ, and there was a small tag that was stamped “ITALY”. On the back of the silver crucifix support…way at the bottom, was a small stamp…“ITALY” The whole chain has completely turned gold, the crucifix turned gold, the Miraculous Medal with Mary has turned gold, and the plastic beads are turning gold. The only things that stayed silver as the day I was confirmed…was the tag stamped “ITALY” and the backing of the crucifix which has a stamp “ITALY”. Would you believe this? Someone once told me it’s because Italy will become the seat of the anti-christ. I pray my rosary, and meditate upon it’s mysteries, and my life has changed. I also believe that the closer to God that a soul comes, the greater the attacks of the devil. As the soul responds to God’s invitation, He orders that soul to become like His Son. And the devil…well, just can’t tolerate that, and so the attack begins. In various ways. The greatest sign that shows it’s authenticity…is how it draws people to God. One certainly should not look for sensationalism, but to those who need a nudge, God is there, and up to the challenge. For it is written…Test Him and see!!! And it also says: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. So, PRAY, HOPE…and DON’T WORRY! Let’s leave the details to God. 🙂

This is an interesting thread. I would be interested in hearing more about these stories of people’s rosaries changing. It makes me feel like my experience was not so unusual. My mom for instance has a rosary that changed from silver to gold. Many years ago as a teenager I had a cheap plastic rosary where the Jesus figure on the Cross turned from painted silver to blood red. (Both of these rosaries changed while on a pilgrimage to a Marian site). And, it was solid red. You could not see any silver. Unfortunately, because it was a cheap rosary the Cross eventually broke in half after many years of using it and keeping it in my pocket with me everywhere I went. However, the Jesus figure that had changed to red did not break. Also, unfortunate is the fact that the rosary went mysteriously missing. I looked and looked for it but could not find it. My mom still has her rosary though.

This just happened to me today. I had just finished the Mary Undoer of Knots Novena last night. I was beginning the 54 day rosary novena today, praying both novenas on my mother’s rosary. The links were silver color. I had closed my eyes when praying. Upon opening my eyes I saw that the links had changed to a golden color. The Jesus image on the crucifix had also changed to a golden color, while the cross remained silver.

As far as I know there have been no instances of rosaries spontaneously changing from one metal to another.I suppose it would be difficult to prove though unless they were analysed before and after.

Quite a few unapproved Marian apparition sites make this claim including medjugorje necedah bayside and holy love.

My best friend’s rosary turned gold when she was at World Youth Day with John Paul II. I’ve seen the rosary myself. Normally I’m skeptical about these things, but there were other miracles in the sky and intense spiritual experiences occuring at the same time with the group as it happened so…eh, why not? 😉 It’s wrong to base faith on these things and to search out “experiences” but sometimes life is full of little surprises 🙂

These cases all sound anecdotal without any evidence or analysis. I would like to meet the jeweler who verified the rosary changed from one metal to actual gold because what you would be looking at is alchemy.

Signs and wonders is a very popular movement now with many also experiencing gold dust and " glory clouds".

In Necedah Wi in the 1950s thousands saw the sun spin just as in Medjugorje.

Unfortunately the rosary she had was lost. Either way, she isn’t with the signs and wonders movement. She’s as solid of a Catholic as you can get – this happened years ago and she found it very moving at the time, but it wasn’t central to her faith and she’s long moved on. Some stories I find more interesting than others, but in the big picture I prefer not to give it too much attention.

I’ve been making rosaries from basic craftstore parts this summer. I used a bunch of pins I bent loops in to to hold each bead, the used pliers to close the gaps, or my fingers. Afterwards I looked at them under CF lighting and…they looked gold instead of silver! it is possible that skin oil on the looping pins could react with the metal, or the oil on the pliers themselves, changing the appearance. As others have said, it would take a metallurgist to determine if they actually changed into gold. When people vist a holy shrine, they’ll be handling the rosary quite a bit, so skin oils are possible…

Personally, belief is more important than proof!

Whether an “apparition site” is true or false makes no difference…Rosary chains can change color. In other words, don’t use the phenomenon to judge whether or not an alleged site is valid or not. (I was a part of one in the U.S. for over 16 years that turned out to be false, and
dangerously so). Rosary chains turned to gold, we had the fragrance of roses…big deal. I learned that God isn’t the only one who can do that stuff.

Just pray the Rosary, go to Mass, Adoration (in Church)…stick with only approved apparition sites like Lourdes and Fatima (this excludes Garabandal, Bayside,
Medugorje, and Christina Gallagher…etc).

God bless.

I have had 2 rosaries turn gold. Some people have taken them to jewelers and the jeweler has told them it is gold plated, not solid gold. The post that runs thru the beads turns gold. The links etc look more tarnished. I had been reading a lot about Medjugorje and I pray my rosary nightly. I was feeling slighted that my rosary had never turned gold. I have a lot of rosaries under my belt. I have been saying them partially every night for 30 years. This has been associated with Medjugorje. I myself was praying the rosary on one of the days that there was going to be a new apparition. They said to start praying it an hour before the apparition was to appear. I did as told. I was down on my knees, having a hard time concentrating and I closed my eyes. It was a bright sunny day, and I had started on a sterling silver rosary. Then I noticed a gold glint. Sure enough, my silver rosary had turned gold. I have since had a 2nd rosary turn gold also. I believe in the power of the Message of Medjagorje.

Oh please not another Medjugorje promoter.

I have no doubt this happens, although its disturbing to see so many people want some modern day expert to investigate and agree that it did indeed turn to gold, if we believe in the God we worship, then we should definitely not become a doubting Thomas every time something miraculous happens.

God can do anything, man has long sought out Alchemy but for God, I imagine changing one metal to another is beyond simple, in other words…no big deal.

I have had one… it was an black ebony wood rosary with nickel silver. It was very old… and had a gold oxidation from years of exposure and use. Nickel will oxidize a gold color.
