I am glad you like it.
John,
Those are beautiful. You do have a talent.
Ohio Bob:
We have one in the back yard. Our statue isn’t painted though - just natural concrete - but nice anyway. It looks like stone.
The Guadalupe statue in the front garden was just concrete stone when I bought it. A friend of mine came to visit a couple summers ago and we spent a week painting it from the colors we duplicated off the painting I have of Guadalupe in my living room. A few pots of paint and yours will pop out beautifuly. You can buy craft paint at most craft stores. It is called “patio paint” and comes in small bottles for such a purpose.

Yes, I have a Mary garden. I have had one for many years…four different houses and I always have a Mary Garden. We moved last fall and I put in a Mary garden in our new home also this spring. Father blessed it last month and it is looking so beautiful. It would not be home without it.

I got a new statue this year and like you it was pure chance I found it. My old statue is beautiful but I have so much more yard I needed another one. The Guadalupe statue I found for our last home and she resides in the front garden here. I really wanted a statue of Our Lady of Grace for the back terraced garden and wala…I found her at a nursery just down the road. She fits perfectly in the niche overlooking the valley and the terrace nestled under the trees. Already the archway which shelters her is filling in with the clematis vines and looks as though God designed the niche just for her.

Like you, Our Lady lead us to this sight. How wonderful it is when we trust God and He leads us through His mother.
Can you give a plant list please?

What a wonderful talent you have! God has truly blessed you. How long did it take you to make the crucifix? Its just beautiful.

John,
these are beautiful! I especially like the “Shepherd and The Lamb”.

Nice to see such a ‘gift’ of great talent being used so well…🙂

Here is a website I use for choosing plants. You can pick them out and then check with a nursury on advisability for your area. Some plants do better in different areas of the country than others.

I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone has made a Mary garden. I finished mine about a month ago and its really growing nicely.
I had been looking for a Mary statue and had been unable to find one. My husband and I had to go to Houston and took a wrong turn and saw a nursery that just happened to have just the statue I had been looking for. Not only that but it was regularly 400.00 and was on sale for 140.00. I had praying the rosary daily and I believe our Mother led us there.

In Northern Ireland :bigyikes: how long do it think it would last over here when Pro-test-ants hate everything Catholic :yup:, there are loads of them in the Irish Republic, and they are beautiful to see.
There is one at the local convent, but it might not survive in public 😦

I don’t have one, but I am inspired by all of you!!

And those sculptures are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing them with us!! I have to say–my favorite is the Madonna and Child. As a mom, I am always touched by the images of Mary with her precious child, Jesus. What an amazing Mother!

When I make my garden, I’ll share pics with you all!!

peace be with you! i’m sorry it has taken so long to respond to you!

“OOOO! Sounds wonderful. Have they thought of putting in a Rosary path? I am going to one of these days. You make stepping stones for the beads and place them to form and actuaL ROSARY. That would be so cool to walk upon as you pray the Rosary around the gardens”

our youth group has not thought about a Rosary path for one reason…the garden space that we were given would simply not be large enough. that would be an amazing thing to have. especially at our parish, because our priests preach the Rosary and the laity love to pray it. it is prayed after each Mass daily. the youth group did plant a group of flowers in the shape of the “M” with the Cross over it (like on the back of a Miraculous Medal). that is the symbol for Mary at the foot of the Cross. if we can convince our pastor to let us take out some of the grass maybe we could plant a larger garden and do that. thanks for the tip!

Annunciata,

“Dominic, This is a wonderful idea! I’m thinking for our CCD Program for the mnth of October! Please share any insights as to how you were able to get the children or “the Powers That Be” to agree to it.”

that would be great for your CCD program. not only would the gardens be beautiful, but that would be an excellent way to teach the kids. many kids would learn better (and enjoy it more) by “doing something” instead of sitting in a classroom. it would be an excellent opportunity to talk to them about Jesus, Mary, the Rosary, etc. well, i did not convince the youth group to do this. one of the members of the youth group read about it online and presented it to the group. everyone thought it sounded great so he was in charge of the whole thing. as to the “Powers that Be”…all 4 of our priests are very holy and encourage daily prayer, especially the Rosary and devotion to Mary. they support the youth group and thought this would be good for us and pleasing to Our Lady. so it was not difficult. it might be difficult if we want to get a bigger space though. there was a space so perfect for it there and they let us have it.

Thanks Dominic! I’m going to get started on my own this summer and then I’ll be able to better explain it to the pastor…he is a holy man and loves Our Lady but is stuck back in Charismatica (left over from the 70’s) and our parish “St Mary” wants nothing to do w/ his ideas…sooo sometime we are just left in limbo.😉

I’ve had a Mary Garden for about 10 years. Last year, we added St. Joseph holding the Lord so now technically it is a Holy Family Garden.
