Has anyone seen the new dinesh dsouza movie?

If anyone has seen the movie 2016 America where would we be without her?
 
I’ve seen both 2016 and the new America movie. America is fantastic. The basic concept is that America is not so much a country as a corporate (meaning public) idea of freedom for the average man which no other society has had up to our founding. He goes through the ideas which are being used to erode that greatness and gives pretty important information as to why we aren’t getting the whole story. He does it better than it’s been done before. If you are an American or someone who came to America because of “the American dream” you will benefit from seeing this movie.

I want to see it, am looking for a location within a hundred miles to do so. Unfortunately, screenings are few and far between and when shown the time picked to air it is ridiculous here in AR. (i.e.70 miles away at 10:30 p.m.). Most cinemas don’t want to show it.
 
Saw it yesterday with my hubbie! Another great documentary by Dinesh. I really encourage anyone with children or grandkids that are in their teens,to take them to see this film.
Considering the revisionist liberal slant on history being taught in our schools,this is a good opportunity to present our Country’s history as it actually happened.

Some of what I’m hearing about the film’s “pro-American” arguments are a little troubling and might be at odds with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Is it true he claims that slavery was no big deal - and that things with American Indians were always peachy? Considering the movie is “PG-13” and, from what I can tell, is a “what-if”, that might be a little confusing (scary, even) to young kids. And as was pointed out, the guy is a convicted felon and did have premarital relations - so, while there’s no doubt he’s milking this movie for the “tea party” demo, I question the suitability of the movie for Catholic Christians.

No,he doesn’t say slavery was no big deal.He points out the sad but true fact that slavery did and still in many parts of the world still exists.He showed that in America,many blacks who were formerly slaves,then became slave owners themselves! Re the American Indians,I don’t recall any mention of things being “peachy”.Again he exposes the fact that the Indians took land from each other.Not the way the takeover is portrayed in revisionist history.From the tone of your post,I get the impression that you are out to debunk what is presented in this documentary.I suggest,that rather than forming an opinion based on here say,go see it for yourself.I think you might be surprised and hopefully enlightened 😉

Hey Old Sparky, haven’t you heard, Dinesh is a sinner saved by grace, as I am! Hope you’ll be happy to hear this.
As for the MOVIE, it is awesome. My wife and I loved it. I’d recommend it to everyone everywhere. I learned a lot. Never before had I heard Sal Alinsky, who was mentor to both Barack and Hillary. Alinsky in the flesh would make any decent person’s blood run cold. His brilliance and pure evil come through with his every word. But overall, this documentary will leave you feeling thankful that there is such a place as America, and it will also leave you shaking your head as to why so many political figures are intent upon its destruction. :cool:

I did hear him say that 80% of the American Indians were wiped out by diseases that Europeans brought with them that the (A.I.) did not have immunity to. Do you know where he got this figure?

Also, in the movie did he deny that American Indians were slaughtered by the European invaders? Did he say why it was moral for the Europeans to take Indian lands by force because before the Europeans arrived Indians were fighting over the land? Is it moral to slaughter a people because there was war between the various tribes before the Europeans arrived? During the American Civil war would it have been moral for another country to invade the U.S.?

As for slavery I’m not sure that it does his argument any good that slavery is a fact of life and that the founding fathers were slaveholders. It’s true that there were abolitionists in the USA that eventually ended slavery. Lincoln was not about ending slavery but about saving the union caho-test.cc.columbia.edu/ps/10178.html

What difference does it make that some freed slaves then became slave owners? I don’t understand.

Jeanne I saw an interview that he did on FNC and am ansking questions. I’m not sure why I need to see the movie to ask questions of someone who has seen it.

Seeing an interview and seeing the documentary in it’s entirety will give you a better perspective.This is a very fair and balanced view of our great Country’s history.Yes,much of it is ugly,but the truth is much of our history is good. My point about slavery is,while it is a scourge on our history,it wasn’t exclusive to our country,or even white/black.Dinsesh exposes this fact,which unfortunately is not widely know by most people. So much of what our youth are learning in school and college is a revised watered down version of the actual facts.
Not knowing your age,you may very well be one of those who was taught the Howard Zinn interpretation of our history.🤷

I’m 70 years old and a history buff. I’m quite familiar with Mr. D’ Souza and am in fact I am on his mailing list. I’m also a Catholic and I listen to him through Catholic ears. That is the reason for my questioning the morality of the European invasion. I question their right to the land and am questioning the morality of how they dealt the indigenous people.

My ears perked up when he was asked as an immigrant, why he believes that America is such a great country (or maybe why America is exceptional) and he basically said that it’s because we have stuff. My paraphrase.

Im guessing that you pose this question in order to make an assessment of Dinesh’s credibility?

Yes, when it comes to documentaries, I, too, want info to help me make a just assessment of credibility as well… 🙂

Howard Zinn is now the history resource of choice,required reading in high school and college.nevermind he intentionally leaves out important facts re our history.
I would still encourage you to see the movie.I don’t want to be a spoiler by giving out too much detail,but I really believe you will come away with a different perspective.

I have every intention of seeing the movie but I don’t want to do so. I’m betting that he won’t have anything to say that will surprise me but there is always a chance. Jeanne would you tell me something that would actually cause me to want to see the movie that I otherwise will be dragged kicking and screaming to ? If not, can anyone else tell me something that will set my mind at ease about this movie?

So is Howard Zinn a progressive? I have no time for progressives.

Reading some of the comments from people who have not seen America, it is apparent that Zinn’s indoctrination has been thorough. This is an incredibly thought-provoking and inspirational movie, but you’d never believe it if you listen to those who are commenting without having a clue. They are following Alinsky without knowing it. Pick a target (D’Souza), freeze it, personalize it and polarize it! Ignore the issues presented. Rob 😊
