Has anyone seen the new dinesh dsouza movie?

Reading some of the comments from people who have not seen America, it is apparent that Zinn’s indoctrination has been thorough. This is an incredibly thought-provoking and inspirational movie, but you’d never believe it if you listen to those who are commenting without having a clue. They are following Alinsky without knowing it. Pick a target (D’Souza), freeze it, personalize it and polarize it! Ignore the issues presented. Rob

Yes,I noticed a priest in some old footage of Saul Alinsky during one of his informational meetings.This was in the movie America.It was also stated that Hiliary is more closely aligned with BO,re idology than she is with Bill .So,she will then finish the work BO has started,if she should be elected the next president.How anyone liberal or otherwise can find Alinsky’s thinking moral and good for our country is baffling.

Howard Zinn is now the history resource of choice,required reading in high school and college.nevermind he intentionally leaves out important facts re our history.
I would still encourage you to see the movie.I don’t want to be a spoiler by giving out too much detail,but I really believe you will come away with a different perspective.

I had planned to see the movie today but I was unable to due to a health issue. My hubby did go however and we discussed it when he returned this will have to suffice, sorry. Basically Mr. D’ Souza’s message is that the USA is the best country because it is the richest. It seems, that he believes, that the salvation of this country would be to return to the Constitution and Capitalism.

In order to deal with this it would be handy to know what Mr. D’ Souza means by “Capitalism”. My definition is like that of G. K. Chesterton “When I say “Capitalism,” I commonly mean something that may be stated thus: “That economic condition in which there is a class of capitalists roughly recognizable and relatively small, in whose possession so much of the capital is concentrated as to necessitate a very large majority of the citizens serving those capitalists for a wage.” (The Outline of Sanity,pp. 42-3 in the Ignatius Press collected works edition)

To begin with I do not believe that Capitalism is the best economic system. As I see it a system called subsidiarity or distributism is the better system. It most closely resembles the economic system outlined in Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical Rerum Novarum. However no economic system will save us. Our problems go deeper than that. I’m for lower taxes but not so I’ll have more disposable income to get more stuff so that the people of the poorer nations will want to come here and get their hands on the “American dream”. I am for lower taxes so that we can more fully fulfill Matt. 25. I’m for lower taxes so that our money does not go to the likes of Planned Parenthood or Solyndra

In the Old Testament God sometimes used Israel’s enemies to punish them for their sins. Abortion is legal in this country; homosexuality is legal as is euthanasia in some states. We need for our people to get back to the Faith of our Fathers. That I’m thinking will be the beginning of the change we very much need.

No,he doesn’t say slavery was no big deal.He points out the sad but true fact that slavery did and still in many parts of the world still exists.He showed that in America,many blacks who were formerly slaves,then became slave owners themselves! Re the American Indians,I don’t recall any mention of things being “peachy”.Again he exposes the fact that the Indians took land from each other.Not the way the takeover is portrayed in revisionist history.

What revisionist history do you have in mind? In my experience, historians are a pretty cynical lot and are quite aware that pre-Columbian America wasn’t a paradise.

From the tone of your post,I get the impression that you are out to debunk what is presented in this documentary.I suggest,that rather than forming an opinion based on here say,go see it for yourself.I think you might be surprised and hopefully enlightened

One can’t spend time and money on every piece of propaganda out there. There needs to be some reason to invest in it beforehand. And my experience is that Mr. D’Souza is a pretty shoddy propagandist with little of value to say. I have yet to see any counter-evidence to this.

Seeing an interview and seeing the documentary in it’s entirety will give you a better perspective.This is a very fair and balanced view of our great Country’s history.Yes,much of it is ugly,but the truth is much of our history is good. My point about slavery is,while it is a scourge on our history,it wasn’t exclusive to our country,or even white/black.Dinsesh exposes this fact,which unfortunately is not widely know by most people. So much of what our youth are learning in school and college is a revised watered down version of the actual facts.
Not knowing your age,you may very well be one of those who was taught the Howard Zinn interpretation of our history.

Now who’s attacking the messenger?

Slavery wasn’t unique to the U.S., but the hard-line racism that developed in the 19th and 20th centuries was pretty distinctive. In most societies, traditionally, slavery is something unfortunate that may happen to people. True, Aristotle’s vicious ideas about natural slavery did have some influence, but slavery wasn’t defined in primarily racial terms until modern America, as far as I know.

For those intent on attacking the messenger, it was selective prosecution along the lines of the IRS going after conservatives and going after ben carson after he shamed obama at the prayer breakfast.

Dinesh said he did something stupid. It wasn’t a large amount of money. I believe harry reid also had similar problems but he more than likely got a slap on the wrist.

Any of the liberals in hollywood could be guilty of marital infidelity and it is ok. Grow up!

Normally, I couldn’t care less if he’s going to prison for campaign fraud or cheats on his fiance with someone else’s spouse. But when he tries to claim the moral high ground and point out those flaws in others, it just makes him look like a hypocrite. It doesn’t seem like his christian morals are really making him a better person. They’re just another stone to cast.

You obviously did not watch the film. First, Edwin, “white people” is a human construct. There are only white individuals, not of whom need to shed a crocodile tear over what some white individuals have done. Second, there are evil and decent people of ALL shades and races. Atrocities have been committed by folks of every hue.
It is quite clear that it will be impossible to discuss this great film with anyone who has not actually seen it. :banghead:

I decided I would go see the movie today.
I was NOT disappointed. I recommend this movie be seen by everyone. It was a good history lesson.
I remember so well seeing the history book by Zinn in the bookstores.
I wanted to buy it. Now I am glad I didn’t. How many more history books are out there like this one?
What made Saul Alinsky such an angry bitter man so intent on destroying our country? He didn’t have a problem finding any followers and they worked their way to the top pretty fast.

Thank you Dinesh D’Souza for making this movie and putting the puzzle pieces together!

For those criticizing Dinesh I would recommend this movie.
If you disagree with any part of it then you can come back here and discuss it.
After seeing the movie I can understand why the liberals bristle at the mention of Dinesh D’Souza’s name. He definitely brings the truth to light!

It would definitely be better to discuss this after you have seen the movie so you will have seen and heard for yourself the claims stated in the movie. Once you see the movie for yourself you will understand.
Your posts are wandering beyond what the movie goes into.

I am happy I saw the movie though and do recommend people see it.
