Has anyone seen TV ads- Catholics Come Home?

Three dioceses in our area are doing a large media promotion to invite Catholics to come back to their Church. It is called Catholics Come Home – We’re waiting for you.

Has anyone seen the TV ads? What is your reaction?
Has anyone in any part of the U.S. used this program? Was it successful? And why?

I haven’t seen them but I have heard about it…I think it is a good idea, many people are searching for God
 
They announced the ads at church last week, however I have not seen one. I have been thinking about it. I think the church has to do something more than tv ads. I think if they put that kind of money into youth programs like some of the popular protestant churches, then they would see more Catholics still coming around. Also if they held more bible classes so that Catholics could continue to learn. After confirmation they drop the ball on that.

Yet, I do wish them well in their campaign.
 
I haven’t seen any yet, but I think it is an excellent idea. Many people think of coming back to the Church, but don’t know where to start; the Vatican wants to make more use of the modern media to evangelize, TV ads seems like a natural place to start.

Unfortunately, due to geography, our parish invested a lot of money into our archdiocese’ appeal for funds to pay to put these on TV - more than what they asked for because we were so impressed by the ads.

I say “unfortunately” because our TV stations are under a different archdiocese, so my fellow parishioners and I helped fund something that won’t be broadcast in our area. We didn’t think about the broadcast areas. 😦

I guess we need to hope that the diocese just south of us will decide to place the ads, as well.

My impression is that this Campaign is to bring back our own family members and friends.

Check out the links. We also got information about how to start conversations. One Sunday, the priest specifically asked parish members to be open and friendly to anyone who is returning or at least considering returning.

The ads are a tool that God can use to soften hard hearts.
Then it is up to us to lead them home.

There are three dioceses in our area which are working together. One is the archdiocese.

Pardon me. But do put pressure on your archdiocese to run those ads in your area. Get your entire deanery involved. Use every connection there is to get those ads run.

Find out if your archdiocese is running newspaper ads. Again, ask that they be run in your area.

Do check out your local cable stations. Sometimes they run community service spots. In our area, cable rates must be low because local small businesses run spots.

Please let me know what happens. As my Irish mother would say: There is more than one way to skin a cat.

We are doing it in our Diocese, inviting Catholics who have left the church to come back.:signofcross:

Don’t watch much TV and I have seen at least 6 of those ads recently. They are well done.
 
I am from another state but from what I have read this campaign has been very successful, and that is why it is being tried in this diocese

This is the place to start, to get people in the door, it seems to have worked many people have come home…from then on it is up to each parish to catechize them if they need it

I am sure they know this is just the beginning, and have developed a long term plan to instruct those that need it
 
I’ve seen them a few times… I think they are excellent. Our Priests are really encouraging those of us in the pews to invite our former Catholic friends/family members to come home. Several parishes near me are also running ads in the paper. May God bless their efforts.
 
The ads are running in Sacramento, CA starting, Dec 18th for 6 weeks. I saw on Fox News tonight. They are awesome ads to bring back Catholics…
 
I had the seen the ads in a meeting with our deacon; now I am seeing the ads on television. They are wonderful - should’ve done these a long time ago! Today a non-Catholic coworker told me that he had seen one of the ads and that it almost made him want to go to Mass. I told him that he should go!

Sounds like where I live - we’re in the Diocese of Boise, but all of our “local” stations are out of Spokane, Washington (which, of course, is in the Diocese of Spokane).

Similar…I’m in the Portland Metro area, across the river in the Seattle Archdiocese. We just helped fund the commercials in Seattle. 😛

Don’t get me wrong, the ads are worth it, but it would be nice if the extra donations we made were going to help our evangelization efforts in our own area.
 
Appreciate your help for us in Seattle, Robert. We are also contributing to the ad campaign.
Apparently it was a huge success in the first cities where they ran – in the south, I think, or Texas. Can’t remember.
The ads are beautifully done. I think the plan is to run them everywhere eventually.

May I suggest to pick up the phone and start calling both Dioceses. Talk to your Pastor and the Parish Council. Pull strings. Or as we used to say when I was young: Call in your markers.

I just saw one of the ads and it is very nice. I hope that it does bring many home to their faith.

i thought about having a band made to put in my car. a slogan or a stick where people can read. Catholics come home.com
