Has your parish done anything about the new translations yet?

The parish I am going to will have a session on Wednesday evening introducing some of the new music for things like the Gloria with the musical director & choir demonstrating the new things. Our bishop will allow us starting in a few weeks to use the new Gloria to practice it as it is not used during Advent then re-introduced at Christmas so its not a shock to us to not have practiced & used it.
 
Our music director mentioned to me - in passing!! - that our church is starting with the new translation next week. :eek:
They’ve been handing out xeroxes of parts of it after mass for a few weeks but I don’t believe that the entire mass has been addressed yet. And there was no mention at all in mass today about changes to expect next week. :confused:
I’m very thankful that, as a CCD teacher, I was given a copy of the new missal a few weeks ago. I’ll definitely be bringing that with me next week!
 
I wasn’t at my parish this weekend, but I heard that my pastor talked about it briefly in his homily saying for the parishioners not to get in a hissy about it asking, “Why are they doing this?” and of the like. I’m assuming that they’ll be doing introductions to the new translation soon, hopefully.

The above is my experience.

The translation is closer to the Latin and I am often on the verge of saying, ‘And with thy spirit’ (a remembrance of the 1960s Missal translation).

We have been using the new translation since Lent (when Father Stephen introduced it as a Lenten discipline). The Saturday morning Mass goers have got it perfectly by now but with the Sunday Masses it’s a mixed bag because people are so used to making the responses without thinking about them which makes it difficult for many to remember to use the new translation.

Our priests had the hardest time, at first, because they have a lot more changes in the words that they use. There were some amusing times when they got it wrong.

It will take quite a while for the people to use the new responses consistently but it will happen. For the congregation there are not a lot of changes really.

Our pastor has given some outlines on how some of the words will altered.

Our parish started last weekend. I truly don’t see any need for lessons or classes, except for learning new musical settings. The new wording is really not that different or difficult.
 
My parish will be conducting classes so that all present will be able to participate fully in the mass when the changes are implemented. Our music director also has started to use some of the newly revised music used in our service (The Gloria, etc.). That way, when the time comes, there will hopefully be one less thing to worry about.
 
Our parish and staff will address the new liturgy on November 27. I don’t think they really care for the new liturgy. Our music director is a conspiracy theorists. Uuhhboy. I’m studying on my own. Some of the parishes in my diocese have already starte.
 
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the seminars that my parish is providing on the new translation. I’m going to study on my own more than likely.
 
Today at Mass, the congregation was taught the new greeting (The Lord be with you…and with your spirit). My music director taught us Dan Schutte’s Mass of Christ the Savior, which we will use for the next few weeks. We learned the Gloria and Sanctus. We still used the normal Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen, and Lamb of God from the other Mass setting we were using previously. I think that we will learn the others next week.

I’m not really a fan of the setting.
