Hate Bill what does it mean. What is defined as hate. Could a hate crime be the refusal to marry a gay couple. What about gays in the priesthood or as nuns, would this be consider a hate crime. Will we be able to stand up in our courts any longer and give testimony in fear of a hate crime. One could be through into jail for contempt of court or the hate crime, what a dilemma. Will the Ten Commandments become the hate commandments. I do believe this is an attach on the church.

This should get interesting responses.

Hate legislation is just “The Thought Police.” Murder is a crime, it doesn’t matter why you murdered, the victim is still dead. Adding years to the sentence because you hated the victim is just lame.

Hey isn’t it best to have more government involvement? Umm, No.

No, its none of those things, it applies only to violent felonies. Read the bill and find peace.

I couldn’t get the link to work.

Nevertheless, even if it applies to violent felonies, its a bad idea.
Example, lets say my white father gets murdered by a white supremicist at the same time somebody’s black father gets murdered by a white supremicist. Hate crime legislation will mean that the person who murdered the black father will have incurred federal hate crime charges, and will be subject to federal prosecution, while my the murderer of my white father will only incur state charges, and state prosecution.

It basically means that the black father’s life had more value than my white father’s life since more resources will be used to prosecute the murderer of the black father.

All lives have equal value and needed to be treated as such.

Oh, I am sorry it didn’t work. But you can go to thomas.loc.gov/ which is the Library of Congress’s site which tracks legislation as it works through the House and Senate.

Search for S. 1145 which is the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act of 2005. The hate crimes provision is in that.

If you take the exemplar crimes this bill is supposed to deal with, and remove the sex, race, etc, from the equation and ask people questions like:
Three men tied a fourth man with a chain and dragged him to death behind a truck. What penalty should they receive?
In every case, people will pick the maximum penalty – even if they don’t know it was a “hate” crime.

Hate crimes are a terrble idea. It punishes people for their thoughts.

Let me give you an example:

I am in a bar and Guy hits on my date. I punch him and am charged with misdemeanor assault.

I am in a Bar and a homosexual hits on me-I punch him and I am charged with of a felony hate crime.

Note my actions are the exact same BUT the homosexual man is given greater protection under the law

.

What are the specific details regarding this bill? Any help would be appreciated.

Bone_IV, I think Guar Fan provided a link to the actual bill:

Homosexual Hate Crime Amendment Snuck
Into Sex Predator Legislation!

**What I’ve been warning about for years is now a reality and the unthinkable has happened! **

SHOCKINGLY, a REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED HOUSE passed a hate crimes amendment as part of the Children’s Safety Act by a vote of 223-199!

During the time when all conservatives were focused on supporting the confirmation of Judge John Roberts to become the Chief Justice of the U.S., liberal Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) quietly attached a homosexual hate crimes amendment to the House anti-pedophile bill known as the Children’s Safety Act.

**If this hate crimes/thought crimes amendment is passed, our culture will be rapidly homosexualized, dissent will be suppressed and free speech will die! I’m not over-stating the seriousness of this threat. **

Now the Senate is working on their version of the sex offender bill and could attach a hate crimes/thought crimes amendment to it!

**The Children’s Safety Act was meant to protect against predators. **It will create a national sexual predator registry to fight pedophiles!

But, adding an amendment to “protect” homosexuals is like having the fox guard the hen house! Homosexual pederasts molest children at higher rates than do heterosexuals. Even though there are only 1-2%

of homosexuals in the population, they account for between 20-40% of all child molestations! (See TVC’s online report, “Exposed: Homosexual Child Molesters” for detailed statistics.)

Homosexuals have targeted children in our public schools for recruitment into Gay Straight Alliance clubs and “mentoring” programs with older homosexuals!

**A bill to fight sexual predators is no place to provide special rights for homosexuals, cross dressers and transvestites! **

We are working with members of the House to remove the hate crimes language from this legislation, as well, as with the Senate to prevent this dangerous language from being added to their new bill.

Unfortunately, the more “moderate” Senate cannot be counted on to do the right thing—unless Senators hear from their constitutents.

This crisis must be avoided by convincing your two U.S. Senators that no hate crimes legislation should be attached to any legislation designed to protect children from sexual predators!

**But it gets worse. “Hate Speech” could criminalize Christians. **

Once homosexuals and transgenders are given minority status under federal law, homosexual activists will use this law as a stepping stone to criminalize “hate speech.” So if a person says anything negative concerning homosexuals or cross dressers, it could be interpreted as “hate speech.” Will using Bible verses when trying to minister to homosexuals be considered a crime?

If such a “hate speech” crime goes to court they will consider the intent of the statement. Thus the thoughts of people will be judged and this becomes a “thought crime”. **I call this the hate crimes/thought crimes amendment. **

**As you can see, if passed, this hate crimes amendment will directly impact freedom of religion, speech, and association. **

We’re not just theorizing about what may happen if hate crimes legislation is passed in the U.S. at the federal level.

We can look at what is happening in Canada already because homosexual legislators have passed hate crimes legislation that criminalizes any public criticism of homosexual behavior! Canadian Pastor Stephen Boission is facing criminal charges in Canada for preaching against homosexual conduct. School Counselor Chris Kempling is facing similar charges for publishing letters to the editor citing the dangerous health problems associated with homosexuality.

Beaver, when I looked up the hate crimes provision of HR 3132 (the bill you allude to), I see that it only has to do with crimes involving “bodily injury to any person or, through the use of fire, a firearm, or an explosive or incendiary device, attempts to cause bodily injury to any person, because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin of any person”

You can look up the provisions of the bill by going to thomas.loc.gov/ and searching for HR 3132 .

I think your concerns about restrictions on hate speech are misplaced.

I do not think, you have really thought this through, unless you are amoung those who wish to sneek it through. This I do not know, but I am supicious. This is what is called a president, used to argue other theroes, theroes already before the courts, looking only for a loop hole they can use to approve there agenda and you would like us to set that agenda for them. No thanks. We do not needed to give these people any help…

The bill does not refer to anything other than violent crimes. If you believe different, quote the section you believe does refer to something else, or can be expanded to something else.

The whole bill reads like a piece of politcally correct garbage. I especially like the part where it states that the federal government does not have effective legislation to deal with it. Duh! That’s because it is not their job. It is the job of the states to write and enforce stupid legislation.

Equal protection for all is the only way to go. (Although as a Catholic, I guess I can always claim any violence is religiously based)

A liberal judge only needs a pin to hang his hat… and the word Hate in any law will do…

Then what is the pin he will hang it on? If you think the single word “hate” in the USC allows that, you are off-base as to the way the judicial system works. What kind of case do you think could make such a stretch?

The only purpose of hate crimes is to discrimate and give special privledges to specific types of people.

Is a crime better because it is done out of love? Is rape now not as bad if the man really likes the woman?

Maybe we should all label ourselves homosexuals (interested in only one sex), so that we can escape hate accusations.
