Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden joined Wisconsin’s Joe McCarthy in the Senate’s Hall of Shame — as they drove Martha-Ann Bomgardner, the wife of Judge Sam Alito, to tears with their relentless bullying of her husband in front of television viewers around the country.
It was, as the French say, worse than a crime; it was a blunder. And all because Kennedy, Biden and their party have ignored the essential moral from McCarthy’s sorry career.
