I was referring to myself. I’m one of those guys you see in the commercials, during prime-time. :o

🙂

No… not that i know of… but i know justice will prevail Someday… I have forgiven him (though it was very difficult… I wanted to end my life as a result of what he did… )… That was many years ago…

thank you so much for your sympathy… (hopefully not empathy  ). 🙂
Now hold on a second-

What makes you different than us virgins? You did not make a choice or insinuate something in order to be assaulted. More accurately, somebody tried to violate you. Whether they succeeded or not does not matter. You have not sinned, you have not sacrificed your sacrifice, if that makes sense.

Essentially, no-, Absolutely, you are just as even as every virgin out there. Do not let this split you from your deserving virginity.

Hey, I always thought that if you were raped, you still, in a way, are a virgin. I would imagine that in God’s eyes you still are, and in mine, you’re certainly a spiritual virgin. To tell people you’re not a virgin isn’t really fair to you because unlike a LOT of people (myself included) losing their virginity before marriage is a choice. I don’t know what a priest would say, but I say if you want to think of yourself as a virgin then go ahead because losing it (physically only, I might add) was NOT your fault OR choice.

As far as justice for this scumbag, Fr. Burke, my parish priest says that any crime not paid for here on Earth in the form of jail, prison, community service (for lesser crimes, of course) are without a doubt due upon arrival in Purgatory, and those debts are much harder to pay off. This is, of course, for those who are not “bad enough” for Hell. So rest assured that this scumbag WILL get his from God if not from the police. God bless you, and I really admire your purity when most people would say that you have no reason to be pure.

I agree… but i then later “chose” to have relations with “boyfriends”… I was so messed up because of what had happened (added to other things… Long story… )… that i thought i was dirt… stayed away from God because He was “too holy” for the likes of me… The things i went thorugh made me feel like i was lower than dirt, although i felt this mostly subconsciously… If i told you the whole story of my life, you would probably think i was making it up… and probably wouldn’t believe a lot of it… that things could be as bad as all that… but… well, there are places in this world that are worse, Satan-wise than others… and i was in the middle of the worst of the worst areas… I am just glad that i kept searching… and that Jesus … How do i say it?? He found me… searching for Him when half the time i didn’t even realize it was He i was searching for… I was one lost human being for many years… I am SO thankful for what the Catholic Church has done for me… 🙂

but it WAS my fault what happened after that… though, as i said, i was so messed up, i couldn’t really be held (100%) accountable… I mean, if you figure you are worhtless to God Himself… what difference does it make what you do? Yikes… thanks for reminding me of all that stuff… :ouch: 😃

Yes, i know this - now… Back then, i used to think/feel that people just got away with whatever evil they did… wow… This is another way in which i am reminded of how far i’ve come, mentally/spriitually… I used to think all kinds of things that are NOT true… and again, i have the CAtholic Church to thank… 🙂 She is SO beautiful…

He didn’t get anything form the police on that crime… but since he got away with that (i didn’t even want to think about what happened, much less report it to the police and have to re-live it again… and likely to no avail)… but when a person gets away with something once, he is likely to do it again and maybe he got caught when he tried to do it again… but in any case, God is perfectly just and i have nothing to worry about… as far as justice… I just pray the guy repents and gets to Heaven…
God bless you, and I really admire your purity when most people would say that you have no reason to be pure.
thanks… I am not sure i know what you mean… about “have no reason to be pure”?? You mean some people think that if a woman is not a virgin, she might as well just sleep around because she is already damaged goods??

Yeah, i sensed that attitude in some people… My mother always taught me that kind of garbage… that double standard…

But you know… i don’t want a man after he has been with someone (much less many someones) either… so women (at least me anyway) see things the same way… when i get married, if that ever happens, i pray he is someone who has lived a chaste life to the best of his ability… I am saving myself for marriage… so my husband to be should do likewise… (which is probably why i will never find anyone… it seems that these days very few people are chaste, sexually 😦 )… (or do i just not get out much…? hmmm :hmmm:

God bless. 🙂

I would like to know what your opinion is of celibacy, after having been celibate for a long time (over 10 years)…

I would like to know if you plan to remain celibate for the rest of your life - or maybe you are only celibate because you haven’t met the right person or whatever…

I would rather be alone than with the wrong person… but i also believe that, as the Bible says, it is not good for man to be alone…

thanks
hi, I have been celibate for 15 years, since my baptism and confirmation. I was a virgin and then I had an illicit relationship, which I didn’t want but the flesh got the better of me. It was after this ended that I entered the Catholic Church.

I like women a lot, but at the same time I can’t give myself to one for some reason. I feel it is God’s will for me. If I get too friendly with a woman I like, I believe that God chastises me. I seem to have two wills where women are concerned. On the one hand, I want to give myself to God and on the other, I have urges for a woman. I think that God is keeping me from women for my own good and maybe also because He wants me to serve Him as I am. I just ask that His will be done.

Being single is not easy and I would like a wife and to give my parents grandchildren and so on, but I seem to have stronger urges deep down which prevent me. I am just finishing a theology degree and then aim to discern God’s plan for me. I am thinking of Cistercian life but am not sure yet. I just hope I find God’s will and have the courage to obey it.

God bless,

Nick

I went through that whole "away from God thing, too. My biggest problem was and still is realizing the importance of depending on God for most if not all of your needs, at least spiritually. I was always a “do it myself” sort of person, and it really didn’t get me very far.

Okay, I didn’t know that you had “boyfriends” after that. Yeah I agree on the accountability for those encounters. But I still understand why you did it. People who have suffered trauma in my opinion have a heavier cross to bear than those whose lives have been relatively trauma-free.

You’re a nicer person than I am. You share in St. Maria Goretti’s sentiments. If I were ever to feel this way, esp. about rape, it would be a while and after lots of therapy, I think. ’

This comment was made before I knew about your “boyfriends.” Your reaction to the assault is probably what most psychologists and social workers would classify as “normal”. I was thinking that you were assaulted and never had any other relations at all which in my mind would have been amazing, perhaps saintly. That’s not to say that just because you’ve done these things you are excluded from consideration for sainthood, particularly with a small “s”, but I don’t know, the latter, for a person to do that would be perhaps “capital S saintly behavior.” You see what I’m trying to say? I couldn’t have done it. I would have done the “normal” acting out as you did.

Oh no, premarital sex is pretty much the norm now. I think if a guy was not chaste at one time but realized the error of his ways, that would make a difference for me.

God bless. 🙂

God bless you too!

This is why Natural Family Planning needs to be on the TV on every station as a public service announcement or something like that. If this dummy of a husband knew about NFP, then he would know that sleeping with your wife every day will get her pregnant just about every cycle. Artificial Birth Control methods fail for this reason, too. (having sex during the fertile time) Besides that, what does he think his wife is, a personal sex toy? Geez.

Any good woman would be happy to find someone like you, someone who doesn’t want to jump into the sexual thing too soon - or at all… (without marriage).

I don’t socialize or even date… but if I did and a man even hinted at pressuring me (or influencing me) to get intimate in any way, even if it was just… well, not leading up to actual sex… l would know that he was Not the right one… and end the relationship… because i want a man who will only do that in marriage…

I really don’t think i will ever get married… & i must not care too much anymore because i don’t go out of my way to meet anyone… (and stay far away from the ones that are “in my world”… because… well, relationship are complicated… esp the older the you are and the more you have been through…).

You are fortunate that you were only intimate that one time… because the more relationships you have that break up (etc, etc.) the more damaged you get… and then you are never really… capable of having a good relationship… well… i shouldn’t say never but whatever…

God bless…

thanks, that makes me feel good.

I am impressed by your attitude. I think that not having sex before marriage is good for a couple because they can then get to know each other better. They can become friends before they become lovers, which I think gives the marriage a stronger foundation.

I am the same. When I was young, I used to go out to nightclubs, but I never met anyone there to have a relationship with. I may have been subconsciously looking for a mate, but I didn’t actively do much about it. I was as if I didn’t have the drive to do it, though I do like women and have a strong sexual attraction to them. Eventually, I just stopped going to such places and accepted the fact that I was not meant to be with anyone.

I know that before I lost my virginity, I could have relationships with women which were purely platonic and get a lot out of it. One woman at that time said she saw me as more like a brother and that I was not like other men. Now, however, I find that I cannot handle platonic relationships so well. There always seem to be sexual undertones when I interact with women now, which is sad and means I have to keep my distance. The only female friendships I have now seem to be with much older women.

God bless you,

Nick

Have you been celibate for a LONG time? Yes

Do you plan to remain celibate your entire life? I think so. I’ve always felt like I will never marry.

Have you met the right person?

No.

I’m okay with been celibate. Being alone can be a bit frustrating (no one else to share the dishes with), but feels ‘right’. somehow. The biggest annoyance is how the world is set up for couples - sometimes I feel there isn’t a place for me.

sign of the times…

I guess if he was celibate as long as i have been, he would keel over dead… :hypno:
