Our Priest told us he had witnessed an exorcism. He was still young, I’m not sure if he was a deacon or an ordained priest by that time.

This happened in Mexico. He said that the head priest there was a very nice man and one night the priest was very serious and praying in the church. Then he told the young priest to confess and to pray. Finally the head priest told him that they were going to a house and perform an exorcism. The young priest was very scared and shocked. He was only going to be there for support and to assist the head priest.

They performed an exorcism on a very young girl (12, 13, or 14 I can’t remember). She had started acting strange before that and would take away images of Jesus and Mary. They took her to doctors and psychologists to determine if it was something mental before going on with the exorcism.

She was from a small village and our priest says he couldn’t believe that this young girl was speaking Latin and Greek. She didn’t have that much of an education.

My priest told us this during the celebration of Mary’s Assumption into Heaven. He said that he noted that the demon would get very angry when Jesus or Mary was mentioned. Our priest explained to us that there are souls in heaven, but that Jesus and Mary are the only ones with their Glorious bodies in heaven. Our priest was saying to be careful of Protestants that try to push away the importance of Mary. She is the example of what we should be trying to attain.

😉 Hola!

Prior to crossing a certain university parking last night o my nearby apartment, I would hav ehad to say “noooo…,” or at least not since December of 1976.

But, in this case, how do we imply a rational motive for what may be nothing more than irrational behavior?

Here it is:

1A) I didn’t lock up my apartment last night before leavng for the U. to take cae of some stuff. BAD!

1B) I left my outside security light on. SO-SO!

1C) No lights left on in any of the rooms of my apartment. GOOD?
  1. Before I left, I automatically took out my book bag the plastic bag of devotional material I use at 5:15 daily Mass – including my Imitation of Christ, etc.and simply dropped it on the livingroom carpet, near the door.
  2. The Gideon’s bible I referred to elsewhere here was laying on top of some cardboard boxes further in, towards my dining room area. When not in Bible Class I want it where I can get my hands on it, quick, in the event any Spanish-speaking non-Catholic missionaries come by to visit.
  3. This morning I first missed my dvotional material for morning prayers, then noticed my missing Gideon’s Bible.
  4. So who were my “Night” visitors?
A) One really spaced out chic gone all hip for the Good Word?

B) Little Green Men from Mars?

C) Some Post Nine Eleven Homeland Security Detail with a really 'way out security agenda?

D) Local “Sin Caras” (literally the “faceless ones,” aka “the university enforcers”) dropping by from that same university to give us this subtle message: “Listen, Home Boy! Our (clandestine) electronic security details monitor all you creeps with rabble rousing anti-authoritarian tendencies. So, guess what? We even know who you’re talking to, when, and what about, dig? Comprende? Like, you know, Home Boy? Better back off!”

E) Oh, no! If not any of the above, then - wow! “That ugly turkey with the forked tail?” All I can say is, he must have been REALLY hard up for entertainment last night!

Anyhow, I guess what I’m trying to say in regards to all this demonic “stuff” goes, and leaving Windswep House aside for he moment, there’s that old Scotch- Irish jingle:

"That there IS a devil,
There IS no doubt!

But ishe trying to get IN,
Or is he trying to get OUT?"

In other words, good people, it pays to remember to lock up!

Thanks!

Hi All:

Have you ever been a victim of a demonic attack? If so, please describe what happened. Also, what do you use to protect yourself against demonic attack? Some folk wear a St. Benedict medal and pray to him for protection. How about you?
Sometimes when I am thinking about God, there is some sort of voice in my head that tries to get me to curse Our Lord and I immediately say a prayer to repell such ideas. I know it is satan. I love Our Lord and look to Him for my eternal salvation and help through this life. This scares me, and I would never do such a thing to Our Lord. But, every so often this happens and I know from whence it comes… I found that prayer to St. Michel here tonight and will memorize it. Please pray for me.

🙂 Hello, Adonia!

Hey, hang in there, o.k.? What you’re talking here is the real deal, not “Little Green Men from Mars,” nor all that foolishness.

Although, I DID eventually find all my “missing stuff” this afternoon.

What I’d like to know is do you or anyone you know have a copy of The Imitation of Christ?

Because there’s a section in it – around page 135 in my version, where Thomas Akempis(sp?) says something like this, and. no! This is NOT a direct quote, instead it’s a sort of “combat emer-gency paraphrase:”

“The devil tries all sorts of fancies and extravagances to mislead us and keep us away from God and His sacraments. Do not be misled.”

Moral? Don’t give up!

Good luck and remember what we say in both drug and alcohol abuse rehab: “Remember brothers and sisters, there really IS someone both ‘Large and in Charge,’ and since that’s not ME nor YOU, let’s all remember to ‘Let Go and let God!’”

It works, Sister Adonia, o.k.? O.K.!

Now im not sure if this was a demonic attack or just my own mind playing tricks but i will tell you guys anyway. Iv always for some reason had a fear of demons popping up alongside my bed while im trying to fall asleep, its a strange fear and i dont know why i have it. Anyway one night i was really worrying about it and then halfway through the night my chest was pulled out of my bed and to the floor, it felt like somthing was trying to pull me through the floor. I think it lasted for about 15 seconds but i was really scared after it. I think maybe because i was half asleep it could have been psycho-symatic but ill never ever forget that night.

Doesn’t the bible say that Elijah was also taken bodily into heaven?

Oh yes! I agree with “The devil…”. Like I say, I know it is the devil, but I fight him with the armor of God.

😃 Eureka!

I stopped by our university lab on my way home from Thursday Night Adoration so I’ve got my Imitation of Christ, with me, all combat-loaded:

Book III. Chapter VI

"But it is a sign of virtue and of great merit to fight against the evil movements of the intellect, and to scorn the suggestions of the devil.

“Therefore, do not let strange fantasies disturb you, of what matter soever they may be.”

Book IV. Chapter X

"But we must pay no heed to his atifices and suggestions, no matter how horrible and abominable they may be; but all his attempts must be turned back against him.

“The wretch must be despised and scorned; nor must Holy Communion be omitted because he insults and disturbs us.”

Hope this helps everybody from Melbourne to who knows where, who are having these kinds of problems.

Keep up the good and faithful work!

Wow! I have to get this book. Those words are so applicable to my situation. We will be going to a Latin Mass this weekend. God Bless and thanks!!!

I don’t know how this information is helpful to anyone, but if by chance it is, here’s my experience.

About five years ago I was suffering from PTSD as the result of combat experience. I was depressed and my wife and I were not getting along very well. I was a practicing Catholic, and had recently completed several years work where I had directed several programs that raised over two million dollars to successfully build a new church.

It was in the night when I was sound asleep that I had a most disturbing dream. All was black, a darkness that I could not see into. However, I could sense the rustling of a creature in darkness in front of me. I tried to see it but I couldn’t. And then I knew it was hurling a long black spear at me. The dark shaft pierced my chest and I felt it enter my heart. It was like a bolt of lightening, and so shocked me that I sat bolt upright in bed. I woke my wife and tried to explain it to her. I was so shaken I couldn’t go back to sleep and lay awake in bed the rest of night. I prayed for Jesus to protect me.

Since that time I grew more depressed and had an affair, that ended my 30 year marriage. I gat laid off from work. I quit going to church and married the woman with whom I had the affair. I packed her and her children up and traveled across the country, with no future job prospects. After arriving to a new location, I had a severe motorcycle accident that put me in the hospital for three weeks and left me an invalid for six months.

During my recovery I got into serious debt. I started going to evangelical churches, and at one church the preacher spoke of tithing as an act of faith in the word of Jesus. I’ve been tithing ever since then and started going to Mass about three months ago. I now make about $130,000 a year and I bought a new house a couple years ago. I’m making progress on paying off my indebtedness, but I am unable to receive Holy Communion until I resolve my marriage. My present wife wants to divorce. So, that’s where I am today.

I don’t know if that night was a demonic experience or not, but it sure marked the begining of a very trying time for me. I pray daily for God’s grace, and through God’s grace I will recover.

A lot of the posts which I have read on here speak about a large weight on the chest, or being unable to move, while at the same time experiencing different unwanted things which are truly frightening and realistic. I encourage people who have experienced something like this to read up on sleep paralysis. This is something which I often experience and I am very sure that it is natural and not demonic.

Basically it involves your body being asleep, but the mind being awake. It is very difficult to make your body move, and often seems impossible. It involves intense concentration and determination to lift out of it.

I more frequently experience the opposite effect…falling asleep into sleep paralysis. It has more to deal I think with a tired body, but an active mind and it normally happens when I try to take a nap after an early morning engagement. Dreams and reality can become mixed in this state for some people. Coupled with an active imagination it can lead to some frightening experiences.

I am not trying to say this this is what everyone has gone through with these experiences, nor am I saying demonic attacks do not happen.:nope:

But this information about sleep paralysis and the opposite ( Hypnagogia) which I was describing, may ease some peoples minds. Remember that Jesus tells us do not be afraid, I have conquered the world. Whatever happens happens…God will always take us to him. That may sound morbid but God will deliever us thorugh no matter what; no matter how scary it may be.

Here’s some sites:
stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

and the opposite, which I tend to experience more:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

Easier said than done, but the evil one loves us to fear. God will provide. If you find yourself fearing pray that God may heal you from it. It also can be done for anxiety. John Paul kept saying it…DO NOT BE AFRAID!

I’ve begun praying my evening prayers with the light on. It seems to help keep me from being struck with fear when I pray at night…there also seems to be fewer noises that accompany it!:whacky:

Either way, I pray for all of you. 🙂

I’ve been attacked several times. Some of my experiences can probably be attributed to a healthy imagination, but I feel this one which I’ll describe was a geniune attack.

See, I was—once upon a time—rather stupid. LOL!!!

I had moved into a new duplex, and decided to exorcise it. I prayed that exorcism prayer that Shoshana said lay people shouldn’t be messing with—the really long one—all by myself. (Though, I was under the impression that lay people were allowed to exorcise places without permission. I thought the rule was that lay people are not allowed to exorcise people without permission??? ---- but that we are allowed to exorcise property??? I’m now unsure of this).

Anyway, I prayed the exorcism prayer late at night. I used Holy Water in every bedroom and the garage. I sprinked blessed salt around the perimetry of my duplex. Got the place pretty wet and sticky. I was thorough. I don’t do anything halfway, or so I thought.

Well, being nighttime, and being sleepy and tired from unpacking, I decided to postpone exorcising the property (outside) until morning.

That entire night, I heard unearthly winds and scratching noises running along the outside of the duplex and things running around on the roof. It sounded like the 12 blind mice were having a kegger on the top of my duplex and that they’d invited the entire neighborhood!!! These noises cannot be explained by a tree scratching the siding or wind, because there are no trees beside my house and there was no storm.

The next day, I exorcised the property, using the same long prayer, blessed salt, holy water, and little rocks soaked in blessed anointing oil, which I placed at the four corners of the property. LOL!!! I am thorough, like I said.

I’ve NEVER heard those noises again.

Moral of the story: Listen to Shoshana!

See, what I’d done, in effect, was an incomplete property exorcism. I’d done only the inside of my duplex. The outside was freely accessible to the little beasties. That’s why they harrassed me all night long. I had ticked them off. What I’d essentially done is poke their little bees nest with a stick, without throwing away the whole nest. Stupid, stupid! Foolhardy, too.

At the time, I knew it was an attack. I wasn’t scared because the inside was clean! I was just irritated because of the loud racket! The little buggers kept me up all night!!!

After I did the property, they left. Never heard that sort of thing since, and I’ve lived here now for a year and a half.

Also, the moral of the story is that there is a reason we have Exorcists and Priests. Don’t try this at home, kids.

Learn from the mistakes of the Stupid One (a.k.a. Me). LOL!!!
friendly slap on the wrist

🙂 Hello, Golden Arrow!

Personally, I have to go with CatholicMC and berwickb.

Number one, my own knee-jerk guess is that nearly anyone ever involved in prolonged combat experiences, or heavy duty police, fire, or para-rescue duties is liable for PTSD.

So, too, one might guess, is anyone taking a complex of synthetic drugs for the treatment of advanced so-called “metabolic disorders” – diabetus II (me) you name it – is also potentially at risk for what I think CatholicMC calls “sleep paralysis.”

I’m personally glad for the information from both you good people, berwickb and Catholic MC as I’ve experienced both.

And, GoldenArrow, it’s pretty scarey, as I guess you’ve learned yourself!

“Keep the Faith!”

Aurelio:thumbsup:

A weight on the chest with apparitions or without can be “night terrors” or “sleep paralysis” which is a recognized medical condition, as CatholicMC says below.

At times, when telling others about demonic influence and warning them, discussing it, or whatever, I have felt weird, kind of like a pressure, I don’t know how to describe it. It lets up when I stop. Is this oppression? I am quite aware of it whenever I engage in helping others to recognize the devil and his minions and their work.

I know someone who spent time in Thailand working with native peoples and refugees. They said that possession and curses that worked and could kill were common in the camps and elsewhere. They said that an evil spirit driving was a legal defense in a traffic accident. Anybody know if that is true or was? They described a girl who was possessed whom they prayed over–a shadow on the wall was trying to pull her bible away from her grasp.

I have talked about this before, but a relative who is demonically influenced had a channeling party with the guest of honor being a spirit called dejul kul or something like that. She and the other new agers believed this fella was from the “spirit plane” or somethign like that. I told her to ask him who he and the other spirits really were and prayed for God to make them tell her the truth. She recorded it. She asked him and he said they used to be angels but they weren’t anymore. That God had given them this world as theirs X thousand years ago and that their were different ranks of them…etc. She never understood it tho. It was like she had wax in her ears when you tried to help her. She literally would not understand you and would answer as if you had said something entirely different from what you had said, esp. if you quoted scripture.

🙂 Hello, ShirleyTowers!

Say, I think you are on to something there.

I recall reading a fascinating book about Helen Rodrigues (Potuguese spelling?), a.k.a “Helen of Burma” who had a number of striking experiences after being left behind with her Burmese nurses when the British bugged out ahead of the oncoming Japanese.

As I remember, Helen had been at least raised a Catholic, with a Portuguese father and an English mother.

She says she never really took all this Satanic so-called mumbo-jumbo too seriously, until she had an encounter with it, up close and personal.

In short, a very negative and disturbing experience.

Hope somebody out there knows of this book, or better yet has read it.

See you!

Aurelio:thumbsup:

I was baptized and confirmed last May. The very next month I was shown just how much protection I have and just what looms on the other side of the veil of this world in which we live.
Long story short, my husband had been trying to help someone who was suicidal. He had prevented 2 or 3 attempts. No one else was interested in this man: not family, authorities. No one. He ultimately succeeded in his wish to end his own life. My husband insisted on seeing him at the site of his death (before coronor arrived). I immediately felt and saw these black images flying around. They tried to penetrate my body, but they were somehow deflected. I began to recite the rosary and did not stop until we physically left the premises. For the next two weeks my husband was tormented by images and sounds that I (thought) I was unaware. Until one day I drew out a demon’s face with flames with my husband on a piece of paper. It was a strange spontaneous thing. It bothered me as I am not of the nature to illustrate in that fashion. A couple of nights later my husband took random pictures about our bedroom as I slept (he was unable to because he was so tormented). To my absolute amazement there was a picture of a hideous demon face with teeth and a trailing tail of smoke. It was the picture I had drawn with my husband days before. I was seeing them and not realizing it.
Anyway, it took a visit from our Priest and two subsequent visits from our Deacons to eradicate these entities.
In an odd way I see the whole experience as a blessing. It showed me the strength and protection of God and revealed the polar opposites of the world and that I had every hope and joy in delving into my new Faith and Glory in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
Andi V.

Yes, now I do where they would accuse me of past sins that I went to confession for. Also, being that in my past I lead a very sinful life, they don’t like to loose souls, so I can feel them OPPRESSING me with negativity on some days, or unexplained sadness at times, etc. One example is that today during the whole day, I was feeling down and out, all a weird day, and tonight when I knelt and prayed the Rosary, while meditating on the mysteries, I LITERALLY FELT A WEIGHT LIFTED OFF MY SHOULDERS, I FELT SO LIGHT. AS IF THE WHOLE DAY THIS WEIGHT WAS ON ME, AND SUDDENDLY LET GO. DEAR GOD, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT WAS THIS??? IF SO, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU HONESTLY THINK?
Hi, yes this could very well be an oppressive spirit. A dark cloud that just hangs over your head. I have experienced that feeling. More than once on Sundays before Mass. hmmm? It causes confusion, I almost feel like I cant function at that moment. It’s not depression, for me that would be sadness. Is it consistent? Has it lasted for awhile? You shouldnt rule out a medical problem. But it is true that evil spirits can oppress us. Keep saying the Rosary, Its a great weapon. I’ve also been using Holy water more in my home and I feel the blessings from it. I recently learned what Father Corapi calls ,Spiritual 911. 9 memoraries, 1 rosary (5 decades of your choice), and 1 chaplet of Divine Mercy. It sounds like alot, to me it did, but after I did it , the peace and strength I received got me hooked. I try to do it every day now.

So far I haven’t, at least not that I was aware of. Personally it’s kind of creepy, and I’d prefer not to ever have any such experience.

It’s interesting to hear about these things. Part of it confirms what we are taught, and part of this confirms the existence of the supenatural. In a round about sort of way, hearing about true to life encounters with demons, reaffirms the existence of God and His angels.

I’ve always thought one of Satan best tactics lately was to not draw attention to himself. I believe one of the reasons why atheism is so much more prevalent today, is because Satan has been more subtle. IF folks cease to believe that Satan exists, they also tend to think God is also a myth.

Many of the saints also encountered demons and/or Satan. Sometimes most oppressively close to the time of their death. St Gerald Majella at times called for demons to appear to help convert sinners. One glance at these things was enough to make folks mend their ways permanently. The threat of these things dragging you down to the depths wuld keep them on the straight and narrow.

Reading about this saint, reminded me about the movie “Ghost” (Patrick Swayze) where demons from hell dragged the bad guys down to H***. In this day and age, I think a lot of folks could us a good demon scare to keep them on the straight and narrow. Fear can be a fairly effective device to get or keep folks on the right track.

Many times, when I am tempted, it is definetly a demon at work.

My defense is the blessed Mother since Christ gave us her as a Mother and place us all under her protection during His Passion. Put yourself between Jesus and Mary and nothing can bother you.

Saint Louis de Montfort on his death bed:
You attack me in vain; I stand between Jesus and Mary. I have finished my course. I shall sin no more
God Bless

When I was taking classes to convert to Catholocism I had and encounter with a demon/or Satan right before my baptism. I was at home with my children and we were working on school work. I was supposed to meet with the priest later that day for one of the last classes. There were footsteps up the front porch and a knock on the door. I could see out the front window and there were no cars in the drive. I went to the door and looked out the peephole and there was not anyone there. While I was at the front door someone knocked on the back door. Thinking it was perhaps the utility guy checking meters I went to the back door–no one was there. I sat down with the kids again. A few minutes later there was again a knock at the front door. I went and looked and there was not anyone there. Thinking it was perhaps a prank I went outside and walked around the entire house–no one was there. We lived in the country and there really wasn’t anywhere for someone to hide. I went back inside and sat down once again with the kids. This time the footsteps stomped very loud up the front steps and there was banging on the front door with both what sounds like both fists. I got up went to the front door looked out the peephole–no one was there. I got the kids together and we left immediately. When I went to visit the priest later that day I told him what had happened. He said that it is not uncommon for Satan/demons to torment adults who are converting.
