Have you ever been a victim of a demonic attack?

I’ve had several strange things happen over the past 20 years. I’ve had one push over my books, I used to have a hard time sleeping at night unless I had a cross or rosary to pray with, once kicked my roomates bed and woke him up in college, I even had one yell at me once when i was about 16-17. I was doing some landscaping sidework with my dad on a house when we went inside to collect the payment. the man was nice enough, but after a few minutes in the house I felt an evil presence approach which I immediately recognized as a demon of lust (how i knew that i don’t know, it just knew it- like it could be nothing else). I didn’t see it with my eyes, but it was like how most people would say that they’ve “seen” or experianced God’s presence and just knew that it was Him. Well, I’ll never forget what happened. the demon looked right at me (i could kind of see him in my mind’s eye) and said, “this is my house. you have to leave- now!” and pointed to the door. I told my father that we had to leave b/c my mom was expecting us, and when we got into the truck i told him what happened. he laughed when i told him because the man whose house we were working on apparently bought the place because it used to be a site for Hustler Magazine photographers to shoot (Years ago, it just looked like a normal house by the time we were there). i’ve never been possesed or anything, but the expeiances that i’ve had have motivated me to write a book that would explain how the angels and demons interact with humans, while cutting through all of the “smoke and mirrors” you usually find in those books.
since then, I’ve gotten my degree in theology and i’ve put together a comprehensive “primer” of sorts that explains how human beings work and how angels and deamons relate to them and interact. there are no scary stories in it, since every book i’ve ever read on the subject seems to have that covered already. it is simply an explaination of what’s out there using sound theological and philosophical principles. if you are intersted, you can find it on lulu.com the title is “ancient wisdom of spiritual warfare in the modern age” the books by fr. gabriel amorth are also very good.
 
I voted I’m not sure because I think that I possibly was about to be attacked. I had a very panicked and anxious feeling like something bad was going to happen one day. I’ve never felt like this before. That evening, this is hard to explain, but when I went to go to sleep I kept feeling like someone was watching me and I became very very scared and nervous. Never have I felt like this before. I normally go to sleep with the TV on (EWTN usually) and I couldn’t stand to even hear anything. My ears became so sensitive that I couldn’t stand it. DH can’t fall asleep with out it on so I moved to the couch where it was quiet. I also grabbed my rosary next to my bed. When I lay down on the couch, the feelings got worse so I began my rosary and I prayed several rosaries until I finally fell asleep with the rosary in my hand.

Like I said, I’ve never felt like this before and I hope to never feel like it again because I was petrified.

But anytime I feel like I’m being tempted or that the devil is trying to get to me, I usually pray the rosary or at least say a few Hail Marys and Our Fathers and I’m immediately calm. I also wear a bracelet with the Miraculous Medal and St. Benedict Medal as well as a crucifix and Miraculous Medal necklace. I don’t see these as “lucky charms” as some might, but I feel that when I have them on the Blessed Mother and Jesus are always there with me protecting me.

I also have a St. Michael Chaplet that I carry at all times to pray as well as the St Michael prayer.
 
I initially commented on this post about an intense experience with the suicide death of a friend shortly after my conversion to the Catholic faith.

Since that time, I have on a daily basis, heard bumps, thumps, footsteps, and scratching sounds. I have seen images, even full bodies of people, and just about every time a picture is taken of me (mostly while working with my horse), you can see images of faces and bodies all over the place. My husband has video taped images of shimmering bodies moving about and have recorded voices.

We don’t go looking for this. It’s all around us and we started documenting it just so we know we’re not loosing our minds.

Ever since I converted my marriage has been extremely unhappy and my husband and I have been at odds. Our life has been challenged beyond any comprehension. It’s going on two years now.

Can these entities - or whomever they are - create (some) of the discord in my marriage? The difficulties are perplexing to both of us. The discord is something we can’t work through and does “feel” like it belongs to us.

Our Priest said that my husband and I both have the ability to “see” things and because of our being united in marriage, must be very careful how we live and to go to confession faithfully as we will draw things more readily to us. We believe what he has advised and follow this directive as best as we can… but it seems the harder we try, the worse it gets.

I guess I’m looking for others who have had similar experiences or knowledge of what I’ve described. I don’t feel that all of these “entities” or spirits are evil or bad. I don’t know who or what they are though. I don’t feel like my life is my own. I feel quite crowded by it most of the time.

If this has been happening since your conversion and you can p(name removed by moderator)oint that point in time when these things started happening, I would say most definitely these entities that you are experiencing are anything but good. Am glad that you are aware that your marriage problems etc., might be a demonic attack. I would say it’s a “no brainer” that it most definitely is. I would start at the St. Michael site that John Russell has recommended, and I would definitely pursue this. Your priest is correct that confession and the Eucharist are very important for fighting this…a good number of times being totally successful in and of themselves. And there may be times more is needed. But what you have described is definitely an evil attack.

Andi, I think you need to speak to a priest who has experiance with this. I don’t mean to scare, but what you are descibing are very serious phenomena. these actions of the spirits you describe are not in the ordinary way of things and I will definitly keep you in my prayers. I’ve done alot of research on this subject over the last 10 years, and the things that you are describing and thier persistance lead me to believe that you need to seek good spiritual assistance if what you are saying is true. I think that the advice the priest gave you was good but incomplete. if there is this severe of a demonic attack it will require the help of an exorcist (I am NOT saying you are possesed, but you may need the grace from the rituals of the Church, the sacraments and prayer in this matter.)
Yes, demons can cause discord (that’s almost exclusivly what they do) but you have to seperate what is marital problem from demonic- they are not easy to distinguish and so I would suggest a christain counsoler. Make sure that you, under NO circumstances, attempt to communicate in any way with the spirits you encounter. at most, pray aloud to Jesus and if you end up saying anything at all let it be to the holy angels and saint in prayer.
My opinion based on what you’ve written is that this is a very serious and potentially dangerous situation. Seek holy peaple in your diocese with experiance who seem to be well rounded and intelligent for directions to the right priest. there are many reasons for why you may be encountering this “poltergiest” activity- none of which I would feel comfortable discerning or discussing on a forum but I do have a few good guesses. look up the two beeks by Fr. Gabriel Amorth. a book called “ancient wisdom on spiritual warefare in the modern age” isn’t bad for a primer to understanding the interaction between himanity and the angelic and demonic, although it does have a few typos.

AndiV, please, please, if your priest won’t call the Bishop for you, do so yourself. You need a Exorcist on your property and in your house, immediately, before these evils get worse.
 
Thank you for your responses (however frightening the possibilities are that have been indicated).

I am tired of dealing with these situations for so very long and my life has hit all time lows during this time. I have started to suffer from anxiety and don’t really feel comfortable in my own skin anymore. I used to be a person that moved quite easily and happily through life. My husband used to be very happy and upbeat and has suffered an illness that really shouldn’t have happened and hasn’t been able to hold a job in a field that he is excellent in. Every time he repairs his truck, it will break almost immediately somewhere else, and every time we try to move forward in our lives we are met with extreme opposition. I’ve lived enough life to know the difference between ordinary life difficulties and challenges and THIS. Because of these stresses - we have fought terribly. During these times, pictures will fall off the wall, the wind will begin to circle around me and my cross of my neck has bend marks on it.

OKAY, NOW I’M SCARING MYSELF. I NEVER ADDED ALL OF THIS UP BEFORE!!! AND I AM TELLING YOU THE TRUTH. PLEASE KNOW THAT WITH ALL MY HEART AND LOVE FOR GOD I WOULD NOT KNOWINGLY MISLEAD ANYONE HERE. I WOULD NOT WISH THIS ON ANYONE, MUCH LESS MAKE IT UP FOR GIGGLES.

Anyway, I have a question. Our Priest did come over and sprinkled Holy Water on EVERYTHING and said some prayers and we recieved Holy Communion in our home. So there’s more specific things to be done?

I will approach my husband and have him read these entries. I guess it’s okay to print this off and show it to our Priest so he doesn’t think I’m being overly dramatic? I mean, will he just believe me?

For anyone experiencing these types of attacks, I highly recommend the Help section on the St. Pio Center for Deliverance Counseling (see link below). They offer some excellent self-help advice, plus have individual counseling should you need it. They specialize in helping people experiencing demonic attacks.

Andi, you need an exorcist. I am not saying that you are possesed, but there are many other ways that the devil can have influence on a person’s life. Call the Bishop. Meet with an exorcist. there is a deeper thing going on here that holy water will not be enough for. If your priest doesn’t believe you, that’s ok. Call the Bishop, only he has the authority to commission an exorcist. Besides, every diocese ought to have one, but only the Bishop knows who he is (the identity of the exorcist is oftentimes kept secret). If you run into problems there, contact Human Life International in front royal virginia, the president (fr. Eutenuer, i think i spelled this wrong) has had alot of experiance in this matter. don’t wait, seek help for this problem. read good books on the topic (again, i suggest fr, amorth) to understand what is happening. if you don’t want to read the books, I have a class outline on the topic that I used with an adult class i was teaching that i would gladly e-mail to you. I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers.

If you don’t qualify for an exorcism, then deliverance counseling is your next best option. If they’ve exhausted all they can do for you in counseling, and you are still under attack, they can advocate for you to receive an exorcism.
 
I gave my husband a printout of this thread last night. He is contacting our Priest this morning. Thank you, everyone.

It’s definitely getting worse. There’s a lot of attacks he hasn’t told me about directed at him and when we’re together it’s definitely magnified. We see the same things, react, and then tell each other what we just saw. Sometimes I think we fall silent with each other because we don’t want to draw more attention, but then that silence is used against us to weaken us as a couple and put a wedge between us. This really stinks (that’s putting it mildly).

Okay, I ask you, when you do get an exorcist to come to your house…would you please post it on the Prayer Forum? And maybe even a specific time (and time zone of course) so that we all can pray with the exorcist, for deliverance of this evil.
