Have you ever been a victim of a demonic attack?

My parents tell this story often -

They were trying to pray and Emily (my oldest sister) was a baby and every time they started praying Emily starts crying like only a baby can. So they would get up to calm her and then go back to praying and she would start crying again. This happened several times until once instead of getting up to quiet her, my dad yells “Satan, in the name of Jesus, leave” and Emily stopped crying immediately.

My brother found a statue of Mary that had been defaced with painted on satanic symbols. He brought it home. A Priest friend told us not to bring it in the house, not to touch it, but to go ahead and destroy it.

The statue was made of cement. My dad took a hammer to it, but that thing just bounced off no matter how hard my dad would swing. Then he said, “In the name of Jesus”, and swung, and the thing shattered. The fragments were bagged, and dropped to the bottom of a lake.

Hello all,

I would encourage everyone to read this rather long series of confessions from demons (enforced by the power of the Blessed Virgin). I gives great insight into the way that demons operate.

I would strongly recommend NOT reading that page. It’s full of the testimony of demons. The so-called exorcists were foolish enough to interview demons . . . when you ask a liar and deceiver to speak, guess what comes out?

The devil tries so hard in everything he does to block Gods will for us. You can count on the fact that if you have something important to do for God, you will encounter the evil one all the more strongly.

here’s an example… I spent some time with victims of eating disorders in a hospital several years back. At the very core of their fight with this ‘disease’ was negativity, self hatred, just a skewed view of oneself that isn’t true. These people all had two things in common. 1. They all have been told lies about themselves, by (in** their** mind) “themselves” but in actuality the devil. 2. They all, every single last one of the girls in this program, had thee biggest heart, and were the most caring, loving, do anything for anyone people I had ever met.

Here is my point. These girls (because of #2) all had/have the potential to accomplish enormous things for Gods family. The devil realizes this, and does everything he can to take everything away from them, their focus, their strength, their faith in God, their will to live. I believe this to be the common denominator in eating disorders. Disorders that are now being treated with drugs, that might very well be better treated with spiritual warfare against the devil.
I understand that we are faced with a constant spiritual battle but we must be careful that we do not confuse spiritual with physical and mental disorders. These are VERY REAL, as I am all too aware of. We must also be careful that we do not place blame on the devil to escape responsibility of our own choices because we still have free will. Prayer is the only way we are freed from anything that is not of God. It is also important to remember that God uses many tools for healing… medication may be one.

Having said that, I seek your prayers… I am struggling with an addiction to sex and sensuality. I have begun saying the rosary every day thinking that I will never give in to this temptation but discovering that it’s not that easy. I’m not sure whether it’s physiological (I suffer with depressive disorder), psychological or spiritual or a combination of the above. Please pray for me that God leads me to the discovery of the root of this sin and to healing.

Thank you.

cainem,

It sounds as if your friend would benefit from counseling, but s/he needs to be very careful in choosing a counselor. Some therapists seem to encourage victimhood, rather than Christ’s healing. I also hope that whoever abused your friend has been punished and put someplace where s/he cannot harm any more children.

Promiscuity is a common response to childhood sexual abuse, as are feelings of worthlessness and depression. I have recently learned, too, that fibromyalgia, gastro-intestinal problems, and even whiplash after a relatively minor car accident are often found in people who had been abused in some way in their childhoods.

I will pray for your friend, as I know you do, and also pray that s/he will find a good Catholic or Christian counselor who will help him.her find Jesus’ love and healing.

In Christ’s peace and joy,

I agree, don’t study the depths of sin, but study the word to combat sin, with the Lords help. Tim

yes. one time directly and several times indirectly within the same week. also I have had dreams lately. See my forum for details it’s called When Spiritual Warfare Gets Too Personal. Thanks.

HagiaSophia…

The ‘seer’ veronica lueken had no “divine” revelations. Bayside is a condemned apparition. I quote from the declaration by Bishop Mugavero.

"Therefore in consultation with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, I hereby declare that:
  1. No credibility can be given to the so-called “apparitions” reported by Veronic Lueken and her followers.
3…As a result , those publishing or disseminating this propaganda literature are acting against the judgment of legitimate church authority."

The entire declaration and 5 statements can be found many places including p. 210-211 in Cults, Sects, and the New Age, Rev.James J. LeBar

Perhaps you did not know that, you are going against church authority in promoting this seer and what she taught.

May I respectfully suggest that you reread my post, carefully, and then I believe you may wish to reconsider yours. Thank you.

i dont really know if i was a victim of a demonic attack or just a coincidentel nerves or anxiety, i dunno. but a little less than 1 month ago i was praying the rosary, and meditating on the luminous mysteries, and when i was in the middle of the 4th mystery, the tranfiguration, i started to feel violently ill, the room started spinning, i started sweating (it wasnt hot out) and i couldnt kneel straight, and was falling against my chair. i forced myself up to the bathroom, and a few min after i put my rosary down i began to feel better, so i returned and finished the prayer, not thinking much of it (i had a lot of skol stress - i figured maybe anxiety) - only the next week it happened again - at the exact same point. this time however, i just leaned myself against my chair and kept praying - the feeling was gone by the end of the last mystery and it hasnt happened since - i really dont no wht this was - if it was from the devil or not - but with Jesus one can endure all!
A very similar thing happened to me just the other day…I’m not sure what it was all about either, but it was weird. It was this past Saturday, I was praying the joyful mysteries. I was on the 5th mystery and suddenly I began to feel nauseated and began to sweat. I was kneeling so I became unsteady and had to hold on to the table near me in order to stay on my knees. I kinda felt like I was about to pass out…that’s as close as I can come to describing it. I kept praying because I suspected the devil could be behind it…because he’s been bothering me lately (mentally…“spiritual warfare”) and it went away. It sounds a lot like what you described. I’ve been praying the Rosary for a while and nothing like that has ever happened…it could just be a coincidence. It could’ve just been stress or something I’m not sure. At any rate…interesting thread.

Peace,
Anna

Not to offens anyone or anything but I dont’ really think possesions happen as often as peopel are saying. Most of these tings just seem like physical and psychological illnesses and whether the devil can be indiretly invoilved I don’t know but they still probably are treatable conditions or maybe jsut ocnditons that go away after time. Now that is not to say I don’t believe demos exist, but I think it is a really rare occurence for someone to be possessed in the sense like Hollywood would portray it. Or maybe that is the problem. My impresson of possesion is what I have seen in the movies which seems rather unrealistic or at least an extreme rareity

Yeah I thought that’s what you meant .
I was on a prayer team many years ago while in the CCR… two sisters had dabbled w/ a "ouija board " in their past and as a result got into some real trouble with manifestations of evil …:yup:
We were praying intercessory prayer for them when the “evil” became manifest:eek: They were sent to the local bishop and were counseled by him…
I’ve never felt attacked but I saw a demon’s face appear on a person in the balcony Church - it was laughing in a very evil way and not a human face. It was NOT my imagination. Now, speaking of ouija boards - I know someone who dabbled in ouija boards and a man appeared right in front of from Abraham Lincoln’s day. This person was definitely not the type of person that would make up something like this. I wouldn’t go near a ouija board for all the money in the world.

I would agree with you that most of these are related to pyschologoical disorders. However, there have been some real cases of possession but some are kept confidental in the church. I’m not saying there weren’t ones that were done during mid evil times that were related to pyschological illnesses but there have been some real ones.
But trust me you probably if you were a pyschologist 1 out of 100 billion chance that someone is actually possessed. I just made that number up to show the rarity. I wouldn’t want to be that pyschologist to lose his job and ruin his reputation because he failed. But anyway the pyscharist would if observing him or her in the hospital would start to detect bizarrie things.)

Of course, I’m not a pyscharist. But the Vatican, before they do an exorcism, written in their new rules before an exocrism should be done. The patient must go to a pycharist. And if you are truly possessed you won’t want an exocrism.

Now one question that pyscharists say. They have a chemical imbalance. A pycharist at this time doesn’t know what causes that. So does that give grounds that the chemical imbalance doesn’t exist. No. Because it does exist because we know from observation and studies. This is just the same case with a real true possession but different methods to detect it.

A couple of years ago I read “Lord of the Dead: The Secret History of Lord Byron” by Tom Holland on the recommendation of an exBF. It retold the life of the poet as if he’d become a vampire on his Grand Tour. I was fascinated and read the whole thing in one night. When I fell asleep later, I predictably dreamed that I was being attacked by vampires, but I called on the name of Jesus (I was still UMC at this time). I noticed off to the side of the area where I was being attacked there was a group of people praying for me, people I didn’t recognize. I’m truly thankful to these anonymous prayer warriors and I frankly can’t wait to thank them in Heaven.

Yes, all the time. I get a real, heavy gloomy kind of depression where I do not feel like doing anything. In the basement of my parents house, I have objects thrown at me, things hit me, things fly off the counter, things fall over, etc.

I remember being at the backyard with a group of friends about 10 years ago. We gathered around a table and prayed the rosary. We agreed to meet regularly every week after that. That week was the worst week of my life. Everything went wrong in my life that week.

Several of the people in the group had really bad demonic attacks and ended back in mental institutions. They were nice guys, but emotionally unstable (depression, paranoid, etc).

I could not believe how badly Satan wanted to break up that group. I joined other Prayer Groups and never experienced anything like that.

My wife has been having serious health problems.

Please keep me and her (especially her) in your prayers.

Keep the Faith.

I’ve been attacked several times. Some of my experiences can probably be attributed to a healthy imagination, but I feel this one which I’ll describe was a geniune attack.

See, I was—once upon a time—rather stupid. LOL!!!

I had moved into a new duplex, and decided to exorcise it. I prayed that exorcism prayer that Shoshana said lay people shouldn’t be messing with—the really long one—all by myself. (Though, I was under the impression that lay people were allowed to exorcise places without permission. I thought the rule was that lay people are not allowed to exorcise people without permission??? ---- but that we are allowed to exorcise property??? I’m now unsure of this).

Anyway, I prayed the exorcism prayer late at night. I used Holy Water in every bedroom and the garage. I sprinked blessed salt around the perimetry of my duplex. Got the place pretty wet and sticky. I was thorough. I don’t do anything halfway, or so I thought.

Well, being nighttime, and being sleepy and tired from unpacking, I decided to postpone exorcising the property (outside) until morning.

That entire night, I heard unearthly winds and scratching noises running along the outside of the duplex and things running around on the roof. It sounded like the 12 blind mice were having a kegger on the top of my duplex and that they’d invited the entire neighborhood!!! These noises cannot be explained by a tree scratching the siding or wind, because there are no trees beside my house and there was no storm.

The next day, I exorcised the property, using the same long prayer, blessed salt, holy water, and little rocks soaked in blessed anointing oil, which I placed at the four corners of the property. LOL!!! I am thorough, like I said.

I’ve NEVER heard those noises again.

Moral of the story: Listen to Shoshana!

See, what I’d done, in effect, was an incomplete property exorcism. I’d done only the inside of my duplex. The outside was freely accessible to the little beasties. That’s why they harrassed me all night long. I had ticked them off. What I’d essentially done is poke their little bees nest with a stick, without throwing away the whole nest. Stupid, stupid! Foolhardy, too.

At the time, I knew it was an attack. I wasn’t scared because the inside was clean! I was just irritated because of the loud racket! The little buggers kept me up all night!!!

After I did the property, they left. Never heard that sort of thing since, and I’ve lived here now for a year and a half.

Also, the moral of the story is that there is a reason we have Exorcists and Priests. Don’t try this at home, kids.

Learn from the mistakes of the Stupid One (a.k.a. Me). LOL!!!

I believe I’m under spiritual attack every night. In particular there is one night that has made a vivid impression on me (though the same thing has occured about five times now). I can’t say for certain whether it was a demon or if it was just shock I was in because I don’t know whether or not I actually saw what I think I did.

but I was asleep in bed and having a terrible nightmare. At the end of the nightmare, I was in a dark room adjusting my eyes and discovered in the darkness a horribly demonic face. fear engulfed me in a way I had never felt before. I felt like I was fighting a battle trying to wake up and it was as though a demon was fighting to keep me asleep. I remember that waking up came in stages and was a process. granted, it was quick but I felt a struggle and my body was shaking throughout it. In just a second or two I was fully awake. I had had my eyes open for only an instant but I thought I saw the same demonic face above my bed. I shut my eyes quickly out of fear so I don’t really know whether what I believe I saw was really there.

that wasnt the worst part though. I had a weight on my chest that is indescribable. It didn’t feel internal or external, but something different altogether. I also felt like I was sinking into my bed. I tried to speak but was physically unable to. This is when a new rush of fear swelled in me. I had always had nightmares when I was little where the scariest thing was not being able to cry out for help. and there I was awake and trying to speak but unable to speak a word. I wasn’t short of oxygen but anything I tried to say was gagged.

I thought of Jesus after only a few seconds of all this. I thought, Jesus, save me. Not only was I able to say it in my heart but when those words entered my mind, I immediately said them aloud. Jesus’ name was the one word that hadn’t failed me. and right when I said it the weight left me and I felt the greatest peace in calling on His name. I prayed for about three hours that night with the same incredible fear but I kept saying that I trusted Jesus and there came an incredible peace by calling on His holy name. For me, the Jesus Prayer is the greatest deliverance prayer.

I fight a battle with my fears everynight but I’ve been more tenacious with my prayers before I fall asleep and it seems to be working. I now say my prayers from start to finish without falling asleep as I used to. St. Pio once bilocated to wake up one of his spiritual children who had fallen asleep when he should have been saying his prayers. I pray every night now on my knees to build up a defense before I go to sleep. I pray to St. Pio for protection since he fought Satan every night for most of his life. Satan once told St. Pio that he was becoming more troublesome than St. Michael the Archangel. If St. Pio is more troublesome for Satan than St. Michael the Archangel, anyone looking for deliverance also should pray to St. Pio.
