I’ve never been a regular lector anywhere but once or twice a priest has kindly invited me, on the spur of the moment, to step in to fill a gap and do one of the readings. There’s nothing to it. If you’ve ever addressed a meeting of any kind, or if you’ve ever taught a class, you already know how to do it. You don’t need “training” or “formation.” It’s just reading aloud from a printed book.I can’t see how this would obligate me to do something I’m not trained or gone through formation for.
Around here, the 8 a.m. morning mass at the cathedral draws considerably more than 10 people. But its on TV too.No. The weekday masses here have a lot more than ten people.
